Very pleasant staff and dining room. Small intimate room. Helpful staff which change the tasting menu to accommodate our needs. Good selection of wines for each course, excellent Somiliar. Highly recommend this restaurant away from the bustle of the city.
Fantastic experience, staff where very welcoming. The food was fantastic!
We’ve been to the Park several times now and really thought this was the best menu yet! Scrummy. Was a little noisy though as there was a big family group in the restaurant with 3 children. Not the usual ambience as a result . Fabulous wine pairings as always
my wife & i have been to adams restaurant previously were blown away then and this time did not disappoint we have been to many quality eateries and adams is among the very best his understanding of flavour combinations is nothing short of fabulous we had the six course tasting menu and ended the evening well satisfied looking forward to the day when adams experience and talent get the recognition he truly deserves we cant wait until we return again
Adam Jackson fed us on my husband’s 60th Birthday at his very low key restaurant he ran part time at Sutton Park.We and a fabulous time then for my family. He has now moved venue to make his amazing food within Marmaduke’s Hotel in York.Although he only offers a set 4 or 7 course menu (with an optional additional cheese course) he prepares and serves exquisite food. The attention to detail is exemplary and each element of each course is amazing.I always feel a place is extra special when you realise that you would have trouble replicating the food at home yourself. The ingredients are seasonal and fresh. Our asparagus course was fabulous-how do you confit the egg yolks? The smoked trout was subtle and prepared with the usual beetroot and creme fraiche but presented with a delicate touch and the shards of linseed crackers were to die for.Adam presented me with a little box of these to take home so that I could enjoy them on another occasion.A main course of pork three ways include pork fillet stuffed with truffle but the star was the pork cheek which was melt in the mouth gorgeous.Pudding was lovely with a homemade blood orange sorbet. The wine list is short but very comprehensive although we took some special wine which we aid corkage on since it was my husband’s 65th Birthday. Not sure why it has taken us so long to return to tast Adam’s cooking but we will be back and be singing his praises to anyone who appreciates fabulous food. Many thanks for a lovely evening. Thanks for signing our bottle of Nytimber which we had as an aperitif(just as we had 5 years ago)
Excellent food and service. The noise level was quite high and background music was not appreciated.
Fantastic food and service, loved the music too! Thank you
Food is quality. All the 7 courses were great. The accompanying wine at £50 each I thought was a bit pricey
An amazing experience. The food was exceptional. Definitely recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the park . The service was excellent and the food delicious and beautifully presented. The portion sizes which are always small in a tasting menu were, I felt , particularly small. We don’t have big appetites so I selected the 4 courses but would I’m sure have managed the 7.
All our party enjoyed all the courses and could not choose a favourite, which must be a compliment to the Chef's choice and cooking.
The best restaurant that I have been to in York. Would definitely go again.
Fantastic tasting menu and seamlessly matched wines. My only criticism would be the setting and background music which slightly detract and although this won’t stop me going again the meal that we had deserves a much better stage
Recommended by family. Fantastic service and dinner, intimate setting and like visiting someone’s home. Every course beautifully presented and a nice wine selection to accompany.
The Park Restaurant in York is one of the best restaurants in York - actually one of the best restaurants I've been to anywhere. The menu is stimulating, different, and innovative showcasing an amazing grasp of texture and flavour with a logical sequence to the progression of truly amazing dishes that combined to provide one integrated dining experience. Nothing jarred or was out of place so that each dish was in harmony with the previous without (as sometimes happens with tasting menus) ever being reduced to a duplication of style or flavour. My partner is a pescatarian and we really appreciated the very different but also aligned menu that he had which combined some elements of the main menu but also provided some welcome differences of approach dependent on where in the menu you were. The wine list is extremely interesting, different and very reasonably priced and overall it was an utterly sublime experience enhanced by friendly but non intrusive service and a gorgeous dining room and amazing crockery! Go soon and as often as you can afford!!
Exceptional menu. Delicious food which was beautifully presented at a relaxed pace. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. £65 tasting menu good value for money, would definitely go again!
Simply a superb restaurant and an excellent meal. Very careful cooking and balancing of taste and the wine pairings were exquisite. High point was the service with very knowledgable waiting staff who took real care with their work. A nice ambience with a real sense of occasion.
Foodie heaven. Unusual setting in the dining room of a "suburban" hotel, but nothing to dislike. The music was too loud for us (note to youthful staff – older folk need it quieter than people your age), but they kindly turned it down for us at once. Everything else was as it should be.
Something of a disappointment.Have been followers of AJ from Black Swan ,Sutton on the Forest (both locations) and we have been enthusiasts. I think the goal posts have shifted and at the price point the food needs to be outstanding and I would no longer rate "The Park" as such. For me the standards are set (in York accessible locations) by other competitors. Whilst I am happy to take a set Taster Menu if the courses are really outstanding ,if each of them is not I would prefer the ability to choose those that most appeal. If it is of any interest our current favourite haunts are Le Cochon Aveugle,Skosh and ,for a speedy lunch or supper The Ivy.
This was our second visit to the restaurant. Our first visit was 9 months ago and everything was excellent. We came away feeling that this restaurant would give Gavroche a run for its money and we felt it was deserving of a Michelin star. Sadly, on this visit we were proved wrong. There were only 2 other couples eating in the restaurant and due to a lack of replacement light bulbs, we could barely see what we were eating! There was no atmosphere whatsoever. The Venison dish was served cold and was inedible.it was returned to the kitchen but no hot replacement was offered. The pork dish was served tepid with a very small portion of overcooked tenderloin and burned reheated potato. We asked to speak to the chef and we were asked to wait until the end of the meal. This we did and when the chef did not appear we were told he had gone home as he had a young family! There are too many good restaurants in York to be treated like this. It was a birthday treat for my husband that turned out to be very disappointing to say the least.
Fantastic food, great staff. Fine dinning with a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect
Having visited a number of Michlen starred restaurants in London - Adam is right up there. He is creative and accomplished.
Wine selections on the paring are out of the ordinary and well refined.
A great evening out - thanks Adam and Team
Great food. Friendly staff. Definitely will eat here again
Excellent food, with imaginative wine pairings. Thoroughly charming service, food and pairings well presented by 3 delightful young ladies.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Each course was well presented and announced. The serving staff were friendly and very professional.
Very good food. Chef produced a fish alternative for us as we did not eat pork. It was delicious! Shame not to have an alternative for each course.
It was really good, quiet, relaxing, nice and different !
Excellent food and wine with very friendly and efficient service from a very well trained staff. A very pleasant dining room and comfortable with limited seating. Not cheap but well worth the expense for a special occasion. In every way we enjoyed an excellent evening in pleasant surroundings. We will come again.
This was our first visit to celebrate my fiancé’s 40th birthday so we were hoping for something very special and we weren’t disappointed in any way. The food was absolutely beautiful, The dining room cute and very relaxed, The staff were very informative about all our courses and personally we thought it great value. We are just trying to justify another reason to come back quickly, But will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the seven course tasting menu, every course was well presented and the food was excellent
It was slightly odd to have a bread course second on the menu as we would have expected this to be a side dish and replaced by an amuse bouche or similar.
The restaurant surroundings are quite low key and the setting does not quite live up to the high class food.
One of our party had a lactose intolerance and the chef went to great trouble to amend each of the courses to suit the dietary issues.
Overall it was a great evening and the food was of a Michelin star establishment.
We will certainly recommend the restaurant .
Why has the park not received a star yet? Having eaten here every christmastime for four years the chef’s (Adam) food has moved from fabulous to outstanding. We eat in many Michelin starred restaurants where attention to detail has not been as detailed as the parks. Come on Michelin rate the food, it deserves it!
We will be back without question!
This is a very good restaurant with fine food, attentive service, an interesting wine pairing, and a nice quiet ambiance.
Great food, great service and overall a great night out.
An excellent dining experience in a relaxed and friendly setting. We had the 7 course taster menu which was beautifully presented, flavoursome and fun. The front of house team bring a wonderfully relaxed feel to a high end dining experience.
This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge team at The Grand Hotel in York and they're confidence was well placed.
Simple the best restaurant that doesn’t have a Michelin Star. In fact it’s a lot better than most of them as well. The creativity and the way the food is put together is genius. Add to that the brilliant front of house staff who are so knowledgeable and passionate about the whole package it makes dining here the best experience. Looking forward to next years visit already.
Have been before and enjoyed the taster menu this time we had the 4 course menu. As before it was outstanding. The front of house we're knowledgeable and very helpful. If your in the area it's worth a visit if your not it's worth the drive. How Adam hasn't got more recognition is a mystery.
We spent a lovely evening with friends - fabulous food, nice ambience and great service - as always! We have highly recommended you to many friends! Worth getting a taxi from Stamford Bridge - for special occasions! Thank you again...
Was lucky to find a table at such short notice. Heard good things about The Park and saw it had excellent previous reviews. After being in York for the day we wanted to relax and treat ourselves to a fine dining experience. The ambience and reception we received was acceptional. The food was really outstanding and offered a sensational combination of flavours and textures. The only reason I did not give this place full marks is that unfortunately after having the 4 course set menu, myself and my brother were left slightly hungry which is a real shame as we enjoyed the food so much. Makes me wonder if the tasting menu would have been the better option and more filling. Other than that the experience was very good.
