The Pavilion at Kensington Palace
The staff were very attentive Really wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time there Food excellent Service outstanding. Would definitely recommend
So disappointed in the temporary Pavillion.....we missed the Orangery.
Amazing ambience, lovely surroundings, perfect place, very traditional, totally recommend!
Our trip to the Pavilion at Kensington was for my mother's birthday . We had a lovely experience , the staff were very friendly and attentive . We had a lovely table by the window - the only disappointment was the weather !!
Really nice cream tea, great and very polite staff, will definitely go again
Fun Tea at the Garden! Excellent time!
Booked a table online as it was a special day trip to Kensington Palace. we were early by 30 minutes, but welcomed in and shown to a table by the window. The staff were attentive, pleasant and very efficient. It was a perfect noise level, quiet, background music and we had two hours eating at our own pace, never hassled to move quicker. Service charge already added and even got 10% off when the waitress saw my Historic Palace Membership card then redone the bill! Will definitely use again. It really made the day special and then we went into tour Kensington Palace.
I loved the low noise levels, hope I’ve filled the form in correctly!
Food was good, setting peaceful, service excellent and not intrusive.
The service was excellent as well as the food. The view was gorgeous! I would highly recommend the Sunday roast!
Expected more luxury for £68 plus service afternoon tea. Very basic looks, no special factor. Not worth the money. Tea was nice but cakes just regular, nothing special. Next time will go to Dorchester, at least you have the wow factor. Not worth the price.
Lovely food and nice enough place but we were expecting something super elegant which this place is not. Staff are nice and accomodating.
Like two years ago I had made a reservation for my wife and myself to celebrate my birthday as we were spending the weekend in London. I had mentioned this point in my reservation.
Disappointment at the end as we noticed no specific attention referring to my birthday (Two years ago, I did enjoy a small kind pastry; some chocolate et a candle!!
We found the portion of the "Afternoon Tea" for two people quite "thin" and ordered a second portion to be able to enjoy yours (nevertheless) delicious sandwiches and pastries.
The tea room is lovely and the place settings were beautiful. The view of the garden is very nice. We had the Royal Tea which includes champagne. The server was very helpful and explained the different flavours of tea to us so we could order what we liked. The presentation was very elegant and the food was fabulous. The sandwiches were tasty and the desserts were very decadent. We left quite full! I would highly recommend afternoon tea especially for those who love following the Royal Family as you feel like you are right in the palace.
We sat outside on the terrace, which was comfortable, but less decorative than inside of course. The tea service was lovely, the cakes and scones disappointing.
It was wonderful! Food and tea were great. Wonderful atmosphere and staff was very nice.
It was very relaxing and very good. We go there every year when in London and have taken out grown up children and other family and they love it too.
We had the afternoon tea at The Pavilion while the Orangery and the Palace are being refurbished. The plates , cups, saucers made you feel like you’re at the ‘Palace ‘. The cakes, scones were delicious. Tea was ok. The rest of our company ordered lunch. It was ok. One of the dishes came 20-30 mins late. No reason was given why it was late and if we did not followed it up we would be waiting longer. Being advertised as “Afternoon Tea at Kensington Palace” our expectations were high. One of our tea pots had a big crack on the side. We sat outside ( they call it the terrace) as it was quite ‘stuffy’ inside and one of the glass double doors separating the inside restaurant had a big obvious crack on it. Patrons going back and forth were sometimes unable to figure out how to open the door.
In conclusion it was an OK experience. I would say to future patrons to not expect so much.
Charming way to cap off a visit to beautiful Kensington Palace and grounds.
Come to relax and enjoy your company.
We arrived a bit early but they were happy to seat us and there was no rush. It took a bit to get service for a refill on the tea, but not a big deal! There was plenty of food, we didnt finish it all! Scones were fabulous, my favourite all week! An excellent last day of a week long London explore.
Our experience was excellent.
My wife and I were visiting London for the first time and were staying near Kensington Palace. We always wanted to have afternoon tea in London and picked this as the place to go. Upon arrival with a reservation we were offered poor seating but eventually did get moved to a better seat. The teas didn’t have much flavor. Maybe that is to be expected but it was a bit disappointing. The scones and desserts were average - not special. The best part was the finger sandwiches- those were quite good. Overall I’m glad we went but I’ve been to better afternoon tea!
Amazing afternoon tea. Highly recommend
Lovely afternoon tea which was a birthday present from myself to my daughter. Very well presented and sandwiches and cakes were very fresh and tasty. Good choice of tea and coffee and I also had a glass of sparkling wine as it was a special occasion. Lovely table by the window.
I was a bit disappointed about one aspect though. I had phoned the Pavilion the day before to check that they still had my booking and asked if there was anything special they could do as it was my daughter's birthday. I had also requested this on the OpenTable booking form. The lady I spoke to said yes, they had that request and they would do her a birthday plate with Happy Birthday on it and a little cake. I was very pleased with this and thanked her. However, on the day we had our lovely afternoon tea, and I was waiting for the birthday plate to arrive. It did not. I then made the excuse to my daughter that I was going to the bathroom, and went up to the desk to enquire whether this was going to happen and the young man looked at me blankly. It had obviously been forgotten. They did do it after I asked, but as we had finished our afternoon tea by then and were about to leave, it was a bit late. Shame as everything else was lovely.
It was the perfect experience. The whole atmosphere of being on the grounds of the palace was surreal. I would do it again.
Thought afternoon tea at this locale would be special but the actual pavilion is being restored so it’s in temporary building, you can’t see gardens just bushes and food was very average
We enjoyed our visit to the Pavilion. The afternoon tea was excellent. Service wasn't as good as we were expecting but would visit again!
The Pavilion is a makeshift setting until The Orangery renovations are complete. I would suggest going somewhere else for ambiance. It did not feel like we were at Kensington Palace for tea.
Fantastic atmosphere, the afternoon tea was just amazing! Ordered table back home in norway before trip, everyting went smooth.
One of the best afternoon teas I’ve experienced. Scones were amazing!
Our first time in London and my wife want to try high tea. Kensington Pavilion was a excellent choice. It was easy to find, service was good, we sat out on the patio. Even thought it was raining,it wasn’t that cold. The scone, dessert and finger sandwich was really good. I would highly recommend doing it.
We were 15 mins late and were accommodated without a fuss. Pleasant experience all round.
Amazing experience! I’m sure there are other places to have TEA but having it right outside Kensington Palace was extra special. Highly recommend
Lovely sunny day to have birthday breakfast.
We visited for afternoon tea in a lovely sunny Friday afternoon. We had a very pleasant table outside, but there was plenty of seating inside, so we're able to chose where we sat.
The sandwiches and scones were excellent, the cakes were mostly good (the Victoria Sponge was a little dry). We were very full after the sandwiches and scones so it didn't really matter. However, we did have to ask for more clotted cream as the small dish provided was enough for one person, not two. Staff were more than happy to fulfill our request for this and more tea, so providing just enough meant there was no wastage by over provision: appreciated.
As we were celebrating a birthday we treated ourselves to some Rose sparkling wine: it was delicious and very reasonably priced. I can't wait to revisit.
Absolutely stunning place for high tea. Well done.
I am so sad. This used to be one of my favorite tea spots. A worthy substitute in many ways for the Orangerie. But something has happened recently to the food -- and even the usually lovely service. The sandwich filling was almost non-existent and more like a thin spread of fake flavor. Forget about the salmon or coronation chicken -- now wimpy egg salad and strange ham. The petit fours and cakes were stale and missing that awe-inspiring color. Thankfully, the scones were fine. We were largely ignored by the waiter -- never bothered to ask about refill for tea or the most rudimentary 'do you need anything here." Considering that we paid a minimum of £40 a head, this downturn is distressing indeed.
Loved it as always, staff is friendly and courteous, food is delicious.
A one off birthday treat was much enjoyed . Was surprised at the 12% service charge added to my bill though !! This was not expected as very expensive. Tea was cold by the time it had brewed and had to ask for pastry forks. However overall very filling and was not rushed in any way.
Our family of 4 had afternoon tea at the Pavilion. The setting was nice and ambiance was lovely. We liked the tea, but the sandwiches and pastries were mediocre in my opinion. The waiter even refused our request for an extra scone for the kids. Unbelievable.
Sandwiches were tired and dry. The tea was cold and the waiting staff looked disinterested. Having said that, they were pleasant and helpful but it certainly was not service with a smile.
