The Peacock Inn
We celebrated a birthday here with my husband and his parents. The dining room was very elegant and wasn't too loud (good for older people with hearing aids), but we sat with menus for over 30 minutes before our waitress took our drink order. If it wasn't for the excessive waiting at the onset, I'd give this restaurant a higher rating. The food and wine were all excellent. The menu was abundant with gluten free options and clearly labeled, which was great for me (but no GF bread or crackers were offered with the delicious spreads and charcuterie that came with the bread basket). We had a wonderful time overall and I would definitely come back when the occasion was right.
The Peacock Inn remains one of the hidden gems of Princeton. The food was outstanding. The menu and wine selection is nuanced. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere is difficult to top for an intimate evening.
Great service and food.
Wonderful, attentive staff; great cocktails; creative menu.
I had the mushroom omelet and it exceeded my expectations. The meal could not have been more delicious.
Went to brunch. Very disappointed in the portion sizes. We were 4. One person ordered the crepes and they were tiny, not even real fruit to go on top. Another ordered the pasta bolognese. There was literally couple of spoonfuls of pasta in the bowl, it was ridiculous. The food itself tasted fine, but for the price, the portions were miniscule. It's lovely inside so it's a shame. I really wanted to love this place. Won't be back anytime soon.
I was there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and it was a wonderful warm, rich, elegant experience. We left pleased, full and would come again.
We had a lovely dinner.
I enjoyed every bite of the food: the wine was also out of the world. Service was very good too. I enjoyed non-pretentious but upscale environment with delicious food.
A wonderful place to enjoy quality service, beautiful atmosphere and interesting and tasteful food.
This is the first time we have been back here since it was renovated and reopened. We went for my son's birthday and my anniversary. It was a very enjoyable dinner. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. It is quite expensive but was perfect for our celebratory occasion.
Beautiful, formal dining. Very quiet, would recommend for breakfast/brunch. Get the continental breads basket - wonderful! Very attentive high level of service. Great special occasion place.
Perfect way to end a great day! Everything was perfect from the delightful plantings in the front yard to the server, the wine and the food was excellent. We felt very welcome and unhurried. Thanks
Pretty atmosphere good food smaller lunch portions
Everything was outstanding. Lou, our server, was knowledgable and efficient. Very quiet which made it very easy to have a conversation. I had great of duck which was done perfectly. My business associate had scallops and he was very pleased. The appetizers (Soup/Caesar salad ) were both excellent. We shared the cheese plate for desert and the three selections (France, Spain and Italy) were very good. My only hesitation is that the food was a bit overpriced as was the wine.
Lovely dining experience in a quiet, elegant atmosphere with creative food.
Food was delicious and Grovet was excellent!
First time there for my sister’s birthday. My brother-in-law and I had the filet, good portion, outstanding flavor and presentation. My husband ordered the duck and his portion was so small, 3 little slices, that he actually ate a snack when we got home. Beautiful restaurant, terrific staff but fell short on entree portion.
Haven't been in years. We took my mother for brunch for her birthday. Food was very good. The waiter was fabulous. I will most certainly go back.
Very good local experience
Food and service are top notch!! Definitely will be returning multiple times in the near future!
Fabulous experience: delicious food, elegant decor, relaxing environment, and wonderful service! Best restaurant in the Princeton area!
Food portions were less than expected especially for the price
The Peacock Inn is what I would consider a special occasion restaurant. The drinks and food are exceptional but a bit pricey. The tea service is also exceptional. I can't recommend it highly enough if price is no object.
Went here on Saturday for my 21st wedding anniversary... didn’t know what to expect after the brief shut down. Absolutely enjoyable experience. Clearly recognized this important day to my wife and I with a champagne toast and complimentary chocolate soufflé dessert. Food was outstanding. Had west coast oysters and the wife had a bib salad to start. Wife had scallops which were great and perfectly cooked. I had the filet mignon. Was ordered medium rare but came out well done. Waiter promptly removed it, apologized and replaced it with a perfectly cooked MR filet. Chocolate soufflé was outstanding.
When we got the check, the filet was comped and so was the soufflé.... the restaurant absolutely did not need to do that.
Only negative was it was pleasantly quiet when we arrived for our 6:15 reservation, but a big party of 8 was seated next to us and very loud.
Other than the big table.... perfect anniversary dinner and will not hesitate to bring friends there for a couples night out soon.
All very well presented and flavorful
Seemed small portioned for price
Service was impeccable.
My husband and I went for our 33rd anniversary dinner. The service was very friendly and respectful with Ashley as our waitress. The arugula salad was nice, and my husband enjoyed his Caesar salad. I asked for a very fruity drink, so Ashley recommended the watermelon margarita. I said, no lime, make it sweet, so when it came with a salted rim, I was forced to send it back. Once they made it a sugar rim, then I was happy. Sadly my filet mignon was very overcooked. I asked for medium rare, and it wasn't even pink in the middle, and the cut was rather shabby looking. They took a LONG time to get my replacement, which was bigger, and cooked well, but this is not what I would expect at this place for a $48 order with only about 8 items on the menu for an entree. Sure they did not charge us, but my husband was almost done by the time I got mine. Yes they also did not charge us for the DELICIOUS chocolate soufflé, nor the complimentary glasses of champagne, but still. They did try hard to make up for the fact that they have a hard time delivering on the quality that they portray. We were disappointed last time we came, and with so many great places around, we may not be back. the place is beautiful - rich in character, history and decor, but it just does not live up to the high-quality standards.
A hidden gem! It was a wonderful dining experience with a great menu offering something for everyone. Our waiter Grover provided excellent, attentive service, while Chris at the bar made terrific drinks with great conversation. A special thanks to them both, as well as Alexis, the general manager, for creating a great ambiance and dining experience in the heart of Princeton. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a special fine dining experience!
We returned the following day for lunch after having a superb dinner the previous evening. Highly recommend the white lobster bisque, scallop dinner and the steak. Preparation is perfectly delightful; presents very well.
Our Sunday Lunch was very relaxing and our waiter Grover was excellent . I could not decide what i wanted and I let him make my selection which was perfect . Looking forward to our return trip .
Really enjoyed the staff. They were very attentive. The food was excellent.
With the exception of the desert, the food was outstanding. We ordered cheesecake and it was not very fresh or tasty ( server did take it off our bill). The atmosphere was exceptional. Very relaxed in an elegant setting. Our sever was very personable but a bit over the top in his praise of each item we selected. I would suggest a bit more restraint. I thought the entries were priced fairly, however, the appetizers and salad were overpriced as were the cocktails. Wine was marked up about 3 times retail which is normal in most restaurants.
Overall, the food was better tasting then any other restaurant in the Princeton area.
The Peacock Inn restaurant is a masterpiece of classic service and dining. After the complimentary valet parking (so helpful in crowded Princeton), our group of six were served cocktails on the wrap-around porch, then perfectly-prepared brunch in the bright and roomy dining room. The restaurant's attitude was purely, "what else can we do to make your visit special?" Fans of chefs Paul and Alida from the At The Pass, Rosemont Supper Club, and Stockton Market will be happy to know they are now at the Peacock.
Very pleased with the sevice and menu for our 6 person group having brunch/lunch prior to attending an opera performance. jtb
Most horrible experience since the change of owner please avoid this place.
The food has no flavor! it is basic at a very expensive price while everything from hostess to waiters act like if we were in a Dinner. It was a dinner experience in an unfortunately very expensive way.
Please do not even try or go!
Will definitely go back!
We went for a late lunch and everything was perfect. The restaurant is a real gem with a perfectly manicured lawn to a beautifully appointed interior. We were well taken care of by the staff. The food and specialty drinks were absolutely delicious! What a wonderful way to celebrate Fathers Day.
Lovely all around!
What a find. This little gem is such a pleasing place. Food was outstanding, really some of the best I have had in my travels. Cocktails were extremely well crafted. And service was truly great - thank you Amanda. You made our dinner memorable. Will be back.
What a lovely time! The food was delicious and the service was attentive. The Peacock Inn also has a lovely front porch, where we sat, enjoyed the gorgeous weather, and their garden. It's a perfect spot to feel a little fancy!
