Excellent food, excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. We had a table of 8 people and our food turned up all together, we didn't have to wait for drinks. A real pleasure to have a family meal there.

We visitied the Pelican a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it the staff were amazing and the food was outstanding.
We recommended to other friends and we visited with them last night, unfortunately although the waitress was very good and friendly the food was way below the standard we experienced before and the atmosphere was nowhere near as good with lights too bright and not very warm.

Lovely food, lovely restaurant. Staff were great, very helpful. Lovely to be in such a normal environment again. You were able to simply forget the last 18 months and enjoy being out with no signs, directions, restrictions or requests for your medical history .... perfect. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Like the quiet atmosphere. Food enjoyable. The portion of pulled pork was a little too small and the brioche bun could have been warmed. The fries and coleslaw were excellent. The seafood risotto was a little dry but tasty. The two desserts of sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake were delicious. Overall decent lunch and would return and recommend

The two staff on duty on a moderately busy lunchtime period managed very well. The food was well presented and enjoyed by all. Not too pricey! I would definitely visit again. My only niggle was that the only tonic water available was orange flavoured. Whether that was down to faulty management or stock transportation issues at a difficult time was not explained. Overall a good experience.

Excellent service and food. Catered well for gluten free guest - very knowledgeable.

Only issue which is out of their hands was a really loud group and because my hearing is bad, we left a little sooner than we normally would have.

Can't fault the staff or food though!

Nice place, plenty of seating inside and out in pleasant surroundings, bit of intrusive noise from the A4 mostly motorcycles!
Service good, food good but I do wish it was a bit hotter especially the plates, maybe it's just an older person thing.
Obviously renovations ongoing as I had to duck under a power cable on the way to the gents!
We would visit again.

The pelican has just had a refurbishment (August 2021) both inside and out. It looks amazing the garden has a lovely eating and drinking area which looks onto the pond, plenty of space for children to play.
Inside everything looks new.
The food and service is as great as it always has been.
I will be going back soon.

Service needs improvement, bar staff are trying to describe to you where your table is instead of showing you, no-one checks if the meal is ok and if there are any problems and it’s hard to get someone’s attention if there is something wrong as they are all flitting in and out. It’s clear they need more staff because the staff that are working, don’t have enough time to be fully attentive.

Found this restaurant whilst on holiday on the kennet and avon canal. What a find!, as we don't eat meat we were concerned there wouldn't be enough choice. There was lot to choose from, it was a hard decision! I can thoroughly recommend the falafel bites with sweet chilli dip, followed by a wonderful Greek salad with side of sweet potato fries. We were too full for desert, but the menu did look tempting. We will definitely be returning!

The food was classic pub food, good enough to visit again. Our table needed polishing and the area we were in lacked pictures and personality. Very nice helpful staff and as a casual night out was it a nice experience!
