What with all the empty space there, we were surprised that we were all bunched together during the ear of COVID-19. We were almost touching elbows with the couple sitting next to us.

Food was excellent & much enjoyed. Main course plates not cleared away. No dessert menu arrived & we weren't asked whether we wanted desserts or coffee. Puzzling as It was not at a busy time and waitress walked passed us at least twice.
We paid at the till as not presented with a bill, staff seemed to lose interest

Arrived and was seated fine, was not asked if we wanted drinks etc. When waitress did arrive at our table a couple of other tables that had arrived after us had already been sorted with drinks etc. The starter seemed to take forever to come out but as it’s fresh that’s understandable. I had the wrong main brought out to me and my wife’s food was extremely bland. Once finished it took a long time for the plates to be cleared and at this point We had lost our need for desert and we had had enough so went to the till, paid and left.

The ambience was pleasant, the restaurant was busy but not overcrowded and the portion sizes were ideal without being too much. The food was excellent and the service good. My wife had a delicious risotto and I had catch of the day which was an excellent fillet of trout. Selection of desserts was a bit limited but we both managed to find something we liked. The draught beer was served chilled which is just not on, but luckily it didn't spoil our enjoyment. Overall, a very satisfactory meal and we will certainly be visiting again.

The Pepper Mill is a wonderful gem in Devizes. The food is excellent (we had a roast for Sunday lunch) and the staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant decor is lovely and we look forward to going back!

Made my wife feel special on her birthday. Delicious food, great service. However, the restaurant felt fairly chilly we popped our jackets on at one point and had to request for the heating to be turned up.

We will definitely visit you again!!

Unfortunately didnt get the table I had requested....however luckily there was noone on the table next to us or it would have been too close for comfort.
The food we ordered was fine except for the fries which looked as if they had come out if the bottom of the bag as they were all very small ‘bits’!
Otherwise it was all OK

We enjoyed a wonderful evening at The Peppermill, which had a lovely ambiance. I ordered the halibut, an unusual combination of foods that worked amazingly together. The egg was incredible! Everyone else ordered steak and it was outstanding. We will definitely return.

Really enjoyed our food. The service was very good. Disappointed in the Sauvignon Blanc choice so had Gin instead. The barman knew what he was talking about. Unfortunately we were not able to order coffees at 9.45 due the machine being switched off which was a little odd when we weren't the only ones left.

We did arrive 15mins late due to traffic and was told the kitchen was closed. We were made to feel awkward due to this and pre warned we might not eat because of this. The waiter share they would take our order immediately or not at all. The order was taken we thanked the waiter.
Soup was delivered in 15mins then we were asked if we would like a drink.
Main arrive later and the food was good.
No one checked back with us we were just left, plates were cleared after an hour.
We were not asked if we wanted dessert and other tables were eating dessert.
Ignored for a further 30 mins, without drinks.
I had to ask for the bill.
Was contemplating getting up and walking out, to see if the noticed us!
Poor service and killed the mood on Christmas eve. Felt unimportant and insignificant in the establishment.
Will never return

The food and service were immaculate, but the noise level from the next table was absolutely appalling. They drove us to an empty table next to the door, and they drove everybody else out of the restaurant. I think that the staff should have done something about this
Thanks

Usual great service and lovely meals. Thursday was fish night specials and the John Dory with risotto was really lovely as was the pork chop. I felt a bit let down by my choice of dessert, which was a pumpkin and seed ‘crumble’. But when it arrived there was a dollop of mashed up pumpkin with a big handful of mixed seeds on top. It could have benefited so much from a bit more finesse and perhaps some mascarpone or cream? However the other two puddings were delicious so I shared them. Altogether a very good evening and I’m sure I’ll be back again soon as it’s a favourite - but I won’t have that pudding again 🤭

Booked a table for lunch with my elderly mother. Really friendly staff and accessible for someone with a walking stick. We had the sandwiches which were excellent with fries. A little pricey but you got what you paid for. Nice decor and comfortable chairs. Really good coffee. Loos were 5 star too!

Food was mostly delicious although the rhubarb in the creme brûlée was a little undercooked for my liking. Moules for starters were delicious although would have been better served with bread not frites. Main courses of pork and lamb delicious and the most amazing mashed potato! Service was friendly although a little slow at times. Overall very nice and we’ll be back!

My husbands and I are regulars at the Peppermill and the food is consistently delicious. I usually have mussels for starter and a fillet of cod or hake for main, my husband has soup and steak, and they are always cooked exactly how we request. Very friendly service always happy to advise. Owner Phil stocks some really good bottles of wine on the shelf which you can buy and have with your dinner for a flat corkage fee, so ask him for his recommendation if he’s in! You won’t regret it ☺️

We met up as a group of friends for lunch and had a lovely time. The restaurant was busy but there is enough space around tables not to feel overheard and it is nice to see in to the open kitchen. Our food and drink orders were taken promptly and the food was served amazingly quickly. All the food was delicious and only narrowly missed scoring 5 stars for the following reasons - the mayo dressing on the Caesar Salad was applied a little heavy-handedly - it would be nicer to serve some in a tiny jug to allow the customer to add as much as desired. I had the steak sandwich - perfectly cooked steak and chips. However the bread for the sandwich was doorstop thick. It may have been less stodgy & soggy and more attractive, if it was served as an open sandwich with the tasty horseradish sauce drizzled over the top.
Minor issues in what was a most enjoyable few hours and I will definitely return.

The Peppermill is a really good restaurant and it was lovely to eat at a place that offered a wide range of choices. I feel a bit guilty not giving this restaurant five stars because it was really good but I have decided to limit the number of "outstanding" ratings I give.

My husband and nephew had a roast dinner on Sunday that was huge and they both enjoyed it very much, one having beef and the other pork. I don’t eat meat so was unable to have the roast, which really did look delicious, but was equally happy with my dinner of sea bream and new potatoes, which was cooked to perfection. We were all too full for dessert but thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service was very good and so was the price. We would definitely eat there again.
