We have 7 beautifully appointed rooms including a honeymoon suite with a Queen Anne 4 poster bed, all bathrooms tiled in Artisan Limestone with 8″ rain head showers.
We also have a cosy wine bar offering an extensive range of drinks, including 100 different wines, 20 by the glass, a range of cocktails, 40 different Gins and draft beers.
Food was amazing but disappointed by the service. We had to wait a while to be offered our first drink and no one asked us if we were happy with our meal.
Had a beautifully cooked and presented lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. Including a complementary glass of prosecco for the birthday girl. The service was impeccable. Thanks for a lovely meal.
Amazing food totally perfect good service friendly stall
The food and service were immaculate, but the noise level from the next table was absolutely appalling. They drove us to an empty table next to the door, and they drove everybody else out of the restaurant. I think that the staff should have done something about this
enjoyed the food - it was a Friday lunchtime so not too busy - pleasant helpful waiting staff and really good food.
Excellent food and wine. Good service, not hurried.
Usual great service and lovely meals. Thursday was fish night specials and the John Dory with risotto was really lovely as was the pork chop. I felt a bit let down by my choice of dessert, which was a pumpkin and seed ‘crumble’. But when it arrived there was a dollop of mashed up pumpkin with a big handful of mixed seeds on top. It could have benefited so much from a bit more finesse and perhaps some mascarpone or cream? However the other two puddings were delicious so I shared them. Altogether a very good evening and I’m sure I’ll be back again soon as it’s a favourite - but I won’t have that pudding again 🤭
Booked a table for lunch with my elderly mother. Really friendly staff and accessible for someone with a walking stick. We had the sandwiches which were excellent with fries. A little pricey but you got what you paid for. Nice decor and comfortable chairs. Really good coffee. Loos were 5 star too!
The waiting staff and bar staff are a credit to the Peppermill, they are so helpful and Sams knowledge of gin was inspirational!!
Lovely meal, very quick service.
Lovely meal, absolutely great vegetables.
Food was mostly delicious although the rhubarb in the creme brûlée was a little undercooked for my liking. Moules for starters were delicious although would have been better served with bread not frites. Main courses of pork and lamb delicious and the most amazing mashed potato! Service was friendly although a little slow at times. Overall very nice and we’ll be back!
As always, the Peppermill is just amazing. The food is Delightful and the service perfect, always attentive and personal. Best place for a meal in Devizes and I can’t recomend highly enough. Fantastic drinks menu also.
Excellent restaurant- delightful lunch in good atmosphere
My husbands and I are regulars at the Peppermill and the food is consistently delicious. I usually have mussels for starter and a fillet of cod or hake for main, my husband has soup and steak, and they are always cooked exactly how we request. Very friendly service always happy to advise. Owner Phil stocks some really good bottles of wine on the shelf which you can buy and have with your dinner for a flat corkage fee, so ask him for his recommendation if he’s in! You won’t regret it ☺️
We met up as a group of friends for lunch and had a lovely time. The restaurant was busy but there is enough space around tables not to feel overheard and it is nice to see in to the open kitchen. Our food and drink orders were taken promptly and the food was served amazingly quickly. All the food was delicious and only narrowly missed scoring 5 stars for the following reasons - the mayo dressing on the Caesar Salad was applied a little heavy-handedly - it would be nicer to serve some in a tiny jug to allow the customer to add as much as desired. I had the steak sandwich - perfectly cooked steak and chips. However the bread for the sandwich was doorstop thick. It may have been less stodgy & soggy and more attractive, if it was served as an open sandwich with the tasty horseradish sauce drizzled over the top.
Minor issues in what was a most enjoyable few hours and I will definitely return.
A return visit - and I've recommended it to more than one friend already.
Lovely food as ever , never disappoints
Drinks are a bit expensive
The décor was very pleasant clean and welcoming, the service was satisfactory and the staff were informative about my needs of vegan and gluten free. We had a lovely glass of wine and one course. Food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Would like to return.
The Peppermill has become our go-to favourite local restaurant for family visits and special celebrations - we have never had a bad meal, the wines are excellent and the service friendly and professional.
The Peppermill is a really good restaurant and it was lovely to eat at a place that offered a wide range of choices. I feel a bit guilty not giving this restaurant five stars because it was really good but I have decided to limit the number of "outstanding" ratings I give.
Lovely food, lovely time here as always. Would recommend. Good choice of food and drink, the Virgin Mojita is delicious.
My husband and nephew had a roast dinner on Sunday that was huge and they both enjoyed it very much, one having beef and the other pork. I don’t eat meat so was unable to have the roast, which really did look delicious, but was equally happy with my dinner of sea bream and new potatoes, which was cooked to perfection. We were all too full for dessert but thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service was very good and so was the price. We would definitely eat there again.
Fantastic as always! We love the Thursday Fish night- the food is outstanding along with the service and atmosphere.
What a beautiful restaurant! From the attractive decor to the helpful and friendly staff to the fantastic food, everything was perfect! Definitely the best meal I have eaten for some time. All the food was imaginative and beautifully cooked by a chef who cares what he is cooking. The wine list was pretty good too!
One of my favourite places to eat and have a drink. It’s a must if your visiting Devizes. From breakfast to dinner it’s fantastic.
Just had a sandwich lunch which was nice. Could have done with a little bit of salad on the side. Overall one of my favourite places to eat in Devizes. Staff were lovely and efficient.
Nice pleasant atmosphere for a drink and meal. Service extremely good. Our food was a bit of a let down but meat can be a bit uncooperative sometimes. A bit pricey and choice a bit limited. Would recommend though. We had a lovely evening.
Excellent food, exceptional quality. The service was fantastic - knowledgeable and friendly without being intrusive.
Very enjoyable meal. The waiter was able to recommend a very nice wine to go with our meal
This is a very consistent, high quality restaurant with very attentive and cheerful staff. Key for me they deal with coeliacs with knowledge.
We arrived a few minutes before our booked time, which was easily arranged via the website. After being shown to our table our order for drinks was quickly taken and menus left. We had already made up our mind after viewing the website menus and our choices given to the waiter bringing our drinks.
The food was excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending The Pepper Mill to anyone visiting Devizes.
Really enjoyed our meal the skate was perfectly cooked nice relaxed atmosphere
The service at the bar when we arrived wasn't great. the girl that served us got halfway through pouring our drinks and left them on the back of the bar and forgot about us. It was only when I reminded her we were there that she finished our order.
The food itself was very very nice, we decided not to stay for dessert and coffee as the noise coming from a party of 8 sat close by was unbearable. As a result we went to a different bar to finish our evening.
Excellent food and service in a lovely little restaurant. Go there if you like food food and a nice atmosphere.
Our first time here, service lovely, the place is really nice and we felt very comfortable. The kitchen is open at the back of the building and it's good to see Chefs at work. Remarkably quiet for being so close. We both had rib-eye steak, deciding that chips were going to be too filling I had salad and other half had new potatoes and veg. Sticky toffee pud and rhubarb creme brûlée were both lovely, the steaks were very tasty and there is an extensive wine list.
Really pleased, we had a great time and will be going back.
Went by reviews and the local counsellors recommendation in a magazine and they weren't wrong. Excellent, knowledgeable service. Food good and tasty
Great service, great food. Polite prompt service with a smile.
Good job. Wiltshire suffers for decent places to eat, glad to find Peppermill.
Our first visit to The Peppermill and it won't be our last either. Clearly a very popular restuarnt, we were greeted and quickly shown too our table. The waitress was quick to take our drinks order.
The menu was not massive, but the selection will cater to everyones taste. The drinks list was very good and reasonably priced.
The waitress was polite and again quickly took our starters and main meal selection. All other tables were occupied but it didnt feel cramped or overly noisy . Staff were busy, but not rushed.
Both starters were a good size, and were delicious....recommend the Chicken Liver Pate with caramlised onion marmalade and the Sweet Potato Croquettes with blue cheeses.
Main course was also delicious, Atlantic Cod with scallop and spinich and smoked pancetta and herb crust pork tender loins were both fantastic.
Pudding menue was again small but the Sticky Toffee Pudding was amazing.
All in all would highly recommended the restuarant for dinner for two or larger groups. Parking is easy in the town centre. Staff quick and friendly and the bill was very reasonable and worth eveery penny.
Well done The Peppermill, will recommend you to friends.
