Welcome to The Perch at the Peacock Inn, where each meal is a celebration of community-driven produce and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients. We are continually inspired by our area’s hardworking farmers and by the myriad possibilities of seasonality. It is a privilege to share this moment of comfort and attentiveness with you.
At Perch, our food pays homage to the idea of terroir—that each product grown and raised in our particular corner of New Jersey carries its own individual taste. Our rotating dishes adapt with the changing seasons of the local microclimate, and we work closely with our friends and purveyors to bring you the best in peak season.

Will definitely go again. Service was excellent.
This was an absolutely terrible experience. As we waited for our orders to be taken my son was yelling, as babies do. Before we could even get our orders taken the manager said “we can’t have this here” and asked us to leave. Instead of being a bit more understanding, perhaps he could have offered to bring him food sooner than ours, a little treat? He was so condescending and rude. As I began gathering my belongings he then offered to sit us in an empty bar that was entirely dark. At this point I was already humiliated and disgusted with his treatment of us. To no surprise, we were unable to find another place taking bookings so last minute. Thank you for ruining my Mother’s Day. I have dined and stayed here many times in the past and I will never return again.
The staff, apart from him, were extremely nice and accommodating. Especially the woman running the front desk. Such a shame that man is in charge. I have no doubt he’s awful to other customers considering the way he treated a mother on Mother’s Day.
Our second time around at The Perch for Mother's Day brunch and it was spectacular. From the food to the service, it was just wonderful. Special call out for the beignets and veg toast. Simply delicious. Our server, Daniel was great and got me a perfect Bellini. My husband loved his spicy Bloody Mary. The only thing is that I ordered the Tomato Pie -- didn't realize it was a quiche and served cold but that's on me. Overall, we loved it and will be going back to celebrate yet another occasion.
We recently went for Mother's Day. The patio area where we made our reservation was lovely and the Inn had heat lamps which was quite nice. The experience was just really discombobulated. We know restaurants are just getting going again, but this place had unconscious and poor service all around. Literally everything arrived late. I asked for milk for my coffee. We waited nearly 20 minutes for someone to bring it out while coffee got cold. We asked for salt. It didn't come until 30 minutes later when the food had been eaten. There were hairs on our plates and all the dishes felt like they had been prepped ahead of time and at least one component on all of our plates was burned or inedible in some way. It was really disappointing.
The Perch has a beautiful, sophisticated design aesthetic. The staff is very attentive and friendly. It was so nice to receive the complimentary amuse bouche. The food was carefully prepared and delicious. A great way to celebrate re-entry into fine dining.
My wife and I went to Perch for first time to celebrate Mother’s Day. Such a great meal and overall experience. Our waiter was very detailed in explaining a few of the entrees we asked about which helped us decide what to order. Great atmosphere, food quality, and presentation.
Would definitely recommend and we look forward to going back!
We began our meal with the Jersey clam chowder, which was poured into your bowl from a small pitcher. It is filled with clams and herbs and very tasty. Our entrees were a seafood salad with fresh greens and farro with an excellent complementary dressing. It was a light and flavorful meal. For dessert we had the chocolate nest and the white chocolate cheesecake. Both we delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was very knowledgable about the dishes offered, e.g. the waiter was able to explain the difference between farro and quinoa! The only negative I could say about the restaurant is that each time we have been there it has been very cold. It feels that they either have a door open or the air conditioning on even when it is 50 degrees outside. Bring a jacket or sweater!
The afternoon tea was fun & delicious. My sister & I brought my mom for an early mother's day outing & everything was perfect. We enjoyed all of our tea choices along with a varied, tasty 3 tower selection of nibbles. I don't like tomatoes so I didn't think I'd like the Heirloom tomato toast, but it was one of my favorites. Our server Eric K was awesome. He was attentive & so personable. Can't wait to go back again!
We tried The Perch for the very first time based on the reviews on Open Table. It was everything they said about it and more. The service was great and the food good. We'll definitely be back.
We love this place, this is our favorite restaurant in Princeton, it’s such a splurge, but it’s so worth it every time!
Celebrated Mother’s Day a little early - afternoon tea on May 1st! It was wonderful. The food was great and the tea was perfect. Daniel our waiter was attentive and excellent. Will definitely be back. Only thing- I wish there were options to order larger items off the menu but I guess that defeats the purpose of afternoon tea. It’s $65 for tea of your choice plus a tower of sweets and savorys to split. Will definitely be back
We had an amazing anniversary dinner at the Perch. The food was delicious and the staff truly went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. We cannot wait to come back!
Our 44th Wedding Anniversary with one of our daughters and son in law. The menu was great and I could tell this would be a restaurant I will visit many more times.
The staff and all the service was very engaging and professional.
The appetizers and entrees were off the charts In taste and originality
Beautiful place. Excellent service. We did not feel rushed. We'd love to go again.
Awesome place and very elegant . Nothing to improve
Great day. Quaint, cozy, friendly service all the way around.
Food was really tasty. Loved the personalized French press coffee as well.
Halibut and steak dishes were impeccable. The “smoky old fashion” was phenomenal
Fantastic food, even better service, very reasonably priced (as compared to similar restaurants), and valet parking was a big help for our out of town dining partners. I’ll certainly be back soon!
Great ambience and service. Drinks pricey but yummy. They are generous w the bread and small bites before the actual meal. Romantic place. Gets busy tho, earlier the better.
Fabulous food and wonderful service!
Outstanding dining experience! Amuse bouche was nice surprise and so tasty! I was urged to try the French dip for first course and it did not disappoint- my only complaint was it was a meal in itself! My friend had pork entree which was incredible- never had anything like it. I had halibut and it was divine. Large wine list and staff helped us pick wine within our budget that went perfectly with both the pork and my fish. Service was impeccable. Needless to say we will be back if ever in Princeton again!
Food and service were excellent.
Highly recommend the maitake french dip appetizer.
We had a great experience and will be back. Food and service was excellent. A great place to celebrate a special occasion.
We selected the restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. It was a milestone birthday. It’s a nice restaurant which we frequent quite often, on this occasion we were disappointed. They did not acknowledge the occasion, which I informed them about when we arrived.
What a wonderful evening and meal at The Perch. The mushroom french dip was a delicious twist on a classic. The entrees were excellent. The service and special attention Michael Rohrbach provides is second to none. The Perch is one of our favorites. We can't wait to return.
Dinner began with amuse bouche sent from the kitchen. We had broccoli rabe with marcona almonds, assorted olives and fried green tomatoes, crusty bread and butter with sea salt. For a first course my husband selected Norwich Meadow Farms Kyoto Carrot Soup (caraway, rye bread crumbs, gingered cultured cream) and I selected Jersey Clam Chowder (fresh Jersey clams, warm roots & herbs, smoked pork jowl, crispy clam fritter). We both thoroughly enjoyed our soups. The carrot soup had a hint a ginger and my chowder was rich and the accompanying clam fritter was light and crisp.
For entrees I went with caramelized sunchoke agnolotti (heirloom tomato butter, swiss chard, kite’s country ham). The agnolotti was feather light in a rich, creamy sauce, it was heavenly. My husband chose Heritage Pork Chop (hakurei turnips, crunch brown butter groats, apple blossom, bee pollen mustard). The kitchen sliced the around the bone and then sliced the meat into slices. It was a nice presentation. The pork was fork tender and delicious.
Although I was comfortable satisfied after my dinner, my husband insisted that we share dessert. We chose Fig Chiboust Tart (roasted fig & almond layer cake caramelized fig chiboust, honey, yogurt sauce) accompanied by a cup of decaf coffee. The cake was light, a hint of sweetness and tasty.
Wonderful outside patio, with delightful service!
I have been here a couple times. The food is excellent and the servers are very professional. There is nothing but kindness and courtesy when a person dines here. It is such a pleasant experience. I cannot say enough good things about the Perch at the Peacock Inn. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful meal, service, and ambiance. Felt very Covid-safe!
Our favorite restaurant for a special occasion. Expensive but always worth the price.
Service was outstanding. Very charming ambiance and atmosphere. Wish there were more options on the breakfast menu but the food that we selected was good overall.
In past lives this was a first rate refined Inn and restaurant with classic bar. The food, drinks and service all at the highest standards and quality standard cuisine with chef making some creations that if not of someone's complete liking at least caringly adventuresome. It was better to not focus on the very high prices, knowing much of that was for just maintaining the ability to have such a place available.
Pandemic, a slow Thursday in a cold February certainly are a consideration.
With 6 customers and 2 servers, we were attended to professionally but not at all ridgedly.
The place remains as it has been, comfortable and classic albeit aging.
The food was well proportioned, in fact fairly large. The one item that was special and wonderful (a mushroom sandwich au jus) - different and by nature a small sub a casual presentation and an especially perfect appy/snack if at the bar. We may well return for that.
The other courses were satisfactory (nothing showing exceptional quality or preperation), with the entree (a pork chop) cooked to dryness. I suspect the delay in preparation (including being brought the wrong order once) may be because of some back of house problem.
Essentially with all aspects in one, it is on par with the many other places in the area. However, t is not in the league to justify a total cost for 2 glasses wine, 2 apps, 1 entree and 1 dessert and coffees, gratuity totalling $170.
Finally, I did notice there is a lovely back patio I had never considered before. Not just for pandemic, but perhaps as an alternative to the cave like bar and bar menu, with heaters or nature, that could be a lovely spot.
Has to be in the top 3 best restaurants I've eaten at in the past 10 years (and I'm a huge foodie!)
The food was crazy off the hook amazing. Great presentation. Perfect service. Gorgeous ambience. My friends and I celebrated a birthday, and we already promised each other we would be back - and often!
The service was impeccable from start to finish. Mike Rohrbach the General Manager took care of every detail and Eric our server was friendly and very attentive. The food was truly a magical experience, creative and tasty and stunning to the eye. Highly recommended!
I love The Perch! Wonderful food, service & ambience. Will definitely come back
The service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Were looking forward to going back and staying overnight!
Amazing! Food was amazing and the service was Stella. High recommend and would go again.
Absolutely wonderful experience and food. Drinks especially were a treat. Made for a perfect Valentine's. <3
Simply a fantastic experience with exceptional food and service for a wonderful Valentine's day dinner ;-)
