We went to the Petersham for a birthday dinner on a sunny Saturday evening and all had the tasting menus. The beef course was quite good, although the beef was a little bit chewy, and the dessert was superb. However, the other courses were all generally a bit disappointing for the price of the meal (£90 a head for the food). They lacked favour or were a bit lukewarm. The wines, all Italian, were nice and the sommelier had tonnes of enthusiasm. There were a few free tables which was surprising for a Saturday evening. It's a nice venue but I'd say they need to up their game on the food if they want to continue charging premium prices.

The venue is great and the outside tables will be even better when it gets warmer. The service was attentive and discreet. I ordered the beef fillet which came rare as requested, the Jersey Royals were massively over cooked and mushy. I ordered their “baked” cheesecake which was not like any baked cheesecake I have had before. It wasn’t unpleasant, but not baked and mass produced. Then I asked for the bill. I was charged £1.50 for tap water and on top of that the total was over £100 for just me. I resent being charged for tap water and if you are going to charge such high prices the food has to be perfect - it wasn’t. I shall not be returning I am afraid.

We celebrated our anniversary at the Petersham in floral court. We knew the moment we walked in that we were in a special place. We both ordered the beef fillet with a side of beans and the flavours were out of this world. By far one of the best meat dishes we have ever tasted. This was also accompanied by a bottle of red which was paired beautifully by the sommelier who clearly knew what he was talking about. As it was our anniversary, they had written a nice message on the desserts plates which was a nice touch, but the hidden gem was when they came with their own Polaroid camera and took a snap of both of us. They arrived with a photo in a car wishing us happy anniversary. This was going above and beyond! Overall the entire experience was flawless. The ambiance was second to none. The restaurant was full but the noise levels were low. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience something special.

Went for lunch with a couple of friends to celebrate their birthdays and the restaurant kindly arranged for a dessert treat to be sent out for each of them. The restaurant is beautiful and the service absolutely brilliant. Hadn’t seen these friends in ages and didn’t feel rushed at all - a relaxed and delicious lunch. More on the pricey side but perfect for special occasion.

A lovely evening where we were looked after so we’ll by the waiting staff and especially the Transylvanian sommelier who was very personable. Tasting menu and wine flight were perfect for such a special birthday meal.

For what my friends and I had, it was extremely overpriced. Furthermore, they charged for bread on the table and we were charged for still water when we asked for tap. I would not go again unless there was a significant reduction in the price or a discounted menu.

Beautiful setting, slightly limited menu although wide choice of antipasti and starters compared to mains. Extensive but very expensive wine list. My main was tiny (cod) compared to fellow diners who ordered a meat dish. Had to order a side to supplement.

I was dubious to make a reservation here since I had read so many bad reviews. However, I did go to dinner and had a nice time there. Food was perfect, service by this Italian girl was very nice, and the wine list was looong. Location was lovely.

I would never normally leave a bad review of anywhere, particularly after what the hospitality industry has gone through in the last couple of years, but I also appreciate that reviews are hugely helpful to other diners… The Petersham has been on my list for a few years and I finally made it there yesterday evening. Sadly, I really regret it. The starters were lovely and fresh, but our main courses were cold. When I questioned this with our waiter, he told me that was how they were supposed to be (for context, we had the pork and the cod). He then walked away before we could discuss further. It was a polite question and we didn’t ask to send the food back, we were surprised, especially as the mains are around £30 each, not a premium for London, but enough to warrant the food at least being hot. The service was generally poor, the same waiter topped up my water glass and then spilled water all over the table and left it there. It was a very odd atmosphere and quite confusing in honesty. There are many other restaurants in Covent Garden that are far better value for money. Maybe we caught them on an off night, but sadly, I won’t be returning to check.

I just didn't think the menu and dishes that we ordered were interesting enough to justify the price tag. The food was perhaps a little bland and not exciting or special. To be really honest I think you can get this product for half the price elsewhere. Simple dishes are great but the flavours have to be distinct which they were not.

Oh we really wanted to love this and we hate leaving less favourable reviews but the experience did disappoint. The pork arrived cold, the asparagus risotto was so so bland and the artichokes where just a bowl of deep fried crunch. Totally over priced for what we received. However, the mackerel croquets and the cocktails were delicious, but not enough to save the experience! Service was polite but also didn’t seem like they communicated well, as we were asked the same questions multiple times by 4 different employees. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful restaurant with a nice looking menue, maybe we just got them on a bad day!! Their sister restaurant La Goccia next door is much better.
