Relaxing ambience and friendly service. Great range of vegetarian options. Quite expensive for comfort style food.
Nice location for a pre dinner show with a delicious and well Served main.
Had a great pre theatre dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday, great setting, service and food!
Overall, it was a nice lunch. As part of the Petersham Nurseries, the decor and atmosphere was very nice and seasonal. The service was good and pleasant. Although I enjoyed my starter (delica pumpkin, bufala mozzarella and radicchio) and main (lemon sole with capers, chilli and orange zest), my husband found his white truffle pasta dish bland. It was a shame as he loves truffle. I hope that can be improved as I'd like to go back and try their desserts.
For the price, the portions are on the mean side, a little over £100 per head with wines at the bottom end of the wine list which seemed expensive. There appears to be no publication of the wine list on their website so not easy to check the percentage mark-up . But the most disappointing aspect was being told when the restaurant telephoned earlier to confirm the booking for 8.30pm that they would require the table back after only 2 hours – i.e. 10.30pm. It is true they withdrew that stipulation on a threat of the booking going elsewhere but any restaurant that thinks it is reasonable for people to get seated, enjoy an aperitif, select food and wine for the evening over 3 courses with coffee (perhaps a digestif), pay the bill and get out within 120 minutes clearly doesn’t care much about their paying customer so why would the paying customer want to return?
High quality food, service below par. Everything took ages and serving staff were a bit weird.
The Petersham is a venue you have to experience. To me it felt a little cramped but the food compensates for that. Lovely autumn menu too
Slightly underwhelmed sadly. Service, decor and ambiance were all excellent. The produce was all clearly high end but a little bit bland. For the money you pay I would go elsewhere for a more wow factor meal.
Beautiful restaurant, lovely food, abominable service.
I was a bit disappointed in the food and service for what we paid- nothing outstanding. There was a big group leaving as we arrived and we didn’t get noticed by staff for a quite while. On the plus side it was a beautiful venue.
My favorite restaurant in London! Great atmosphere, wonderful and fresh food. Excellent attention to dietary restrictions.
Delicious food, lovely staff and beautiful decor. A bit pricey but will definitely be returning for special occasions
Don’t like the restaurant adding discretionary 12.5% tips !!
I have been to the Petersham for my birthday.
It is a nice restaurant located in covent garden. The food is good but not exceptional, and considering the bill we paid and am disappointed.
To explain the above, we had 2 cocktails, a bottle of water, bread (4 small slices), rump stake with wild mushrooms to share (the meal was prepared for two) with mashed potatoes and cabbage, for a total of £120. We didn't even have wine! The price could have been easily reduced to £80 and still be profitable for the restaurant. I found the price unreasonable for the quantity and quality of food.
I will not go back to the Petersham. Shame, the restaurant is nice!
I visited the restaurant with my friend and went for the tasting menu. The food was good but the best part was the service! We were really lucky to have Peppe as our waiter! He was not only attentive but also knowledgeable of the dishes. His warm attitude made our evening!
Fabulous! What can one say? The food was out of this world and the service faultless. Thank you for such a memorable meal.
Love the food and the ambiance - I would definitely recommend it to anyone
Beautiful space, beautiful food and drinks. Great Afternoon tea
The starters were good. Some dishes where amazing! But the Vegetarian Aubergine dish was so bland. The passion fruit meringue dessert was amazing but the Almond tart with pistachio ice-cream was very dry & the ice-cream did not taste of pistachios at all! Service was v good & our waiter took on all our comments. The drinks menu was original & we loved everything. Ambience gorgeous!
Lovely atmosphere and delicious sounding menu. Enjoyed all our food but is wasn’t served very hot. The pasta first course was ok but the fish main looked like the creamed potato had been waiting around awhile. Bread served was not super fresh. We were there for the pre theatre menu as had tickets for the ballet. The bread felt as though we were being served lunch time left over.
For a gorgeous ambience I would recommend to friends but with a gentle mention food could have been served better. Hopefully this was a one off?
The Petersham has a beautiful ambiance. Autumnal floral and leaf arrangements were stunning. Friendly, helpful wait staff. The food was delicious. Fish perfectly cooked and the wine was devine, we took a photograph of the wine list so that we could find the wines back home!
Cold hot chocolate, missing items on our afternoon tea. Overall extremely expensive for very little food and so busy the staff weren’t overly attentive.
This is one of the best dining experiences I've had in London. The service was impeccable; warm and friendly. I just loved the finishing touches on everything - the snapdragon flower on my hummus, the beautiful illustrations on the menu, the floral displays and the light fittings. I had the fish and it was so sweet and delicate.
The staff were very friendly, the service was great, and the food was exceptional.
The food was great but they made a mistake on the fish main meal that delayed 3 people’s main courses as they redid them ( there were 8 of us dining) The service overall was pretty poor for the calibre of restaurant and we kept having to track down a server whenever we needed anything. To be fair they didn’t not charge us for the 3 main meals and removed any service charge so they did acknowledge the problem and dealt with it well.
What a fantastic restaurant, the staff are brilliant and attentive even when it’s incredibly busy. Very intimate place yet is full of energy at the same time. All the food is superb. Can’t wait to go back.
A really beautiful restaurant and excellent food. The service was attentive but not too overwhelming. Just right.
Our evening at the Petersham was absolutely wonderful! Great food, great ambiance and an absolutely lovely manager who helped make our evening all the more special. Looking forward to returning soon!
Private event made it less enjoyable for people eating there
Fantastic place, very lovely waiter from Sicily 🙏🏼😉and the food was delicious. Thank you, we will come back fore sure
Alessandro and Christoph
Special thanks to our waiter Thomas who made the day unforgettable for us! GREAT service!!!!
The Petersham is such a lovely experience. Very pretty things to look at everywhere and the food quality is divine.
Pre theatre dinner celebrating family member Birthday. Sorry we didn’t have longer to enjoy the wonderful food, service and surroundings. Also great wine list!
fantastic experience! we loved their lychee and rose black tea.
Rip off if we consider quality of the food vs price
I had the delight of already visiting the Petersham twice before for special occasions so when it was my birthday I knew where I wanted to book. First you are in awe yet comfortable with the space; so beautiful and welcoming, then the friendly professional service leads you into a relaxed special evening. This is followed by the fresh, absolutely divine food. It is truly by special place to visit on special occasions. Just perfect.
This was my first visit to The Petersham. My friend and I enjoyed the fresh food and the recommendation from the sommelier was great. The food is really fresh and seasonal and while it was busy it wasn't too noisy. The perfect place to unwind on an evening. We will definitely be going back.
Made a 3:30 booking for afternoon tea for my sisters birthday on a Saturday. The staff were very friendly and the food and drinks were delicious - couldn't fault the food at all, but the timing of the service was awful - i have never been to an afternoon tea that took so long to serve.
The booking was for 3:30 and we arrived on time, and it was a set menu for afternoon tea so the tea order would be the only part of the meal that was different for all diners. It then took 20 minutes for anyone to take our drinks order, another 15 minutes for anyone to bring our drinks and another 30 minutes after that to be brought our food - by which time it was 4:30 (an hour later) and we had drunk most of our tea.
The Petersham also start their dinner service at 5pm, so by the time we had started eating our food staff were setting up for dinner around us which ruined the atmosphere.
Would come again for lunch or dinner as the food was delicious, but dont think The Petersham are prepared to do afternoon tea.
Absolutely fantastic afternoon tea at The Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden. From the delicious rose petal Bellini to yummy savouries, scones and patisserie ... too much to eat - so boxed up and taken home. Seamless, friendly and efficient service - will definitely be returning!
Lovely setting, very good food, and attentive staff.
But lacked a bit of atmosphere. And the wine by the glass was expensive.
But overall I’d recommend.
