One of the prettiest restaurants in London. The flowers were sensational!!
We were a table of 4. I had previously eaten at the Petersham Nursery and was excited to try this new sister restaurant, closer to where I live. We opted for the tasting menu, with accompanying wine flight. The food, wine and service were certainly of a high standard. In particular the vension starter & the lamb main course were superb.
A couple of suggestions to deliver a 5 star experience:
*We requested a copy of the menu, so that we could read what we were eating, while eating. We requested 3 times: it never arrived. The courses were introduced when they arrived, but the introduction was timid and brief.
* Portion sizes. This is not a request for larger , but a suggestion to make them more even. It reduces the chance of angst among guests!
Overall: @London prices' but highly recommended.
Lovely afternoon tea in a beautiful place. My only regret is that there was a lot of sweet food compare to the savory one. Too much sugar for me!
Truly wonderful lunch - everything was perfect! Amazing - Thank you
Can't wait to go again! Lovely delicious ingredients, gorgeous setting.
Excellent fresh food lovely environment and excellent service would definitely come back
Fabulous setting: an oasis within the lively bustling Covent Garden. Beautifully decorated, great, attentive service and truly delicious food! Will definitely come again and in better weather would love to sit outside in the courtyard.
Such a beautiful place amidst the hustle and bustle of London.
Beautiful surroundings, beautiful ambience, beautiful food and an excellent wine list & the service was superb.... what’s not to love?
Stopped taking customers as short staffed.
Great restaurant; lovely courtyard; serious food at affordable prices for the quality.
We booked the Theatre menu for an opera house visit. Sadly we felt the dishes were rushed to us despite us arriving 2 hours before our show. Our appetisers arrived the same time as our starters and twice our drinks order was messed up not arriving until our main course arrived. Finally we struggled to pay our bill as staff were minimal and the card machine was not working
Sadly The Petersham wasn’t up to its PR. Having been to the original in Richmond this is a poor relation. Over priced, underwhelming food and very poor service. The bar staff have to be the worse in London, quite put out by us wanting drinks and table service despite seven other customers in the place. Bad show, really bad show.
Quality of food varied. Risotto & Dover sole were excellent. Tortellini(hard) & monk fish ( rubbery) mediocre.
Dessert different & interesting.
A good restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden but away from the hustle and bustle. The food was imaginative and beautifully cooked and presented. The wine list was interesting and not overly expensive. The staff were attentive and friendly.
This must have been our fourth time at the Petersham and it's getting better and better. The food, again, was so delicious and beautifully presented. My husband's steak was 'the best ever' and I loved my risotto. All washed down with an excellent Rosé from Tuscany. The service, as always, was impeccable and super friendly. It's just a joy to sit there and enjoy the lovely ambience.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the setting, looking forward to returning on the 24th.
Perfect place for romantic dinner. Nice atmosphere and decoration, lovely staff, highly recommended 🌹
Afternoon tea. Superb. Just the right amount to eat. Staff lovely. Flowers fabulous. A gem.
This was my first visit to The Petersham and I was very pleasantly surprised as how lovely the whole experience was. The staff were attentive but not smothering, the setting was lovely with all the fresh flower arrangements and the food was amazing. Their attention to detail was excellent. It was my friends birthday and they arrived unexpectedly with a plate with an ice-cream boule, edible flowers and chocolate writing saying "Happy Birthday" on the rim of the plate ! A nice touch - thank you.
Setting is beautiful with lovely floral displays, service is speedy and attentive. We are from the set menu which was delicious and good value.
I must qualify my review by saying that my expectations were very high. I may be mistaken but I had thought I had peeked in to look at the restaurant last year and it looked wonderful. However the restaurant that we sat in was in a completely different area within that building and so maybe it has been re-furbished and moved within the building or maybe I am confused. Anyhow, it was perfectly good the food was nice - some parts excellent some parts fine. The set menu is very reasonable but wine by the glass was £15. The service was lovely with 2 of the waitresses, but hit and miss with other waiting staff. It was fine for a daytime lunch without wine, but for a special occasion which this was, it wasn't that special especially for the price.
A special birthday lunch with a beloved goddaughter, in this leafy, bucolic little garden of paradise...in Covent Garden! More Italian than the original Petersham, with a rare delicious bagna cauda. Service al light and fresh as the dishes. Particular mention for the excellent sommelier who directed us to a memorable white wine. A very happy lunch!
Lovely ambiance and some dishes exceptional but others plain average. Dover sole bland and small at £40. But the monkfish on spinach was exceptional - as was the crab salad. The experience was let down by a surly self-possessed waiter who repeated jarred and intruded.
Wonderful setting with the most beautiful floral arrangements ever. Such a special place.
Lovely flowers- sort of like a ramped up urban glam version of the original as you’d expect. Service friendly- wine delicious- food characteristic. Something not quite as knock out as the original maybe scale?
This was a really lovely midday lunch experience, delightful ambience and excellent, simple, fresh food. Could not fault it! And will return.
Alex and the staff gave us extraordinary service for our tea/luncheon on Monday. The food, from starters to desserts, was exquisite! Everyone went all out to provide us with an over the top meal that we are still talking about. Thank you, Alex!!! We are so appreciative.
Really lovely bright and airy venue for a ladies lunch! Fabulous fresh food!
Beautiful decor and delicious food. Being a Monday lunch it was quite quiet but we had a very enjoyable meal. I did find the Italian wine menu rather unfamiliar and hard to navigate.
The restaurant has very good ambience but sadly the food was not to the expected standard. Two main courses were replaced but then it appeared the food had simply been reheated so was overcooked.
The Petersham charges premium rates for food and drinks and the service and ambience were very good indeed as one would expect.
Although a profuse apology was given and deduction made for the poor food this is not what we wanted and it's unlikely we will visit again.
Typical Petersham decor, similar to the Ivy Brasseries. We ordered the roast which was £32 each but didn't come with any vegetables which i thought was cheeky. You had to order sides at £6.50 each of carrots and cauliflower so overall this made a very expensive roast with watery gravy. I have had much better roasts at Hawksmoor for £22 flat price. So, overall, i can understand why this place isn't fully booked. Its too expensive for what it is. You can pay the premium in Richmond as you get the garden centre experience but not in CG.
Staff we friendly enough, decor was nice. Not sure i will go back.
We heard about the new seasonal menu restaurant. We booked through ‘open table’ all was smooth and easy.
The restaurant is central but a bit hidden which is a big plus. Then, the decor is so unique, fresh and contemporary.
All was super professional, the service, plating, topping up our wine and water glasses.
The portions of the food is precise, not big or small. The selection on the menu was wide enough for everyone to find there dishes. The food was super tasty and beautiful. Thank god we didn’t skip the desserts, they were divine.
We are definitely coming back. Thank you Petersham people
We had afternoon tea at the Petersham. The food selections for the tea were remarkable. The food and staff were superb!
Service was a little disappointing but the food and vibe is divine!
Our experience at the Petersham was overall very nice. The best parts were the atmosphere and the decor of the restaurant. The service was exceptional and the staff were lovely. The food was also of a very high standard however our starters were slightly under seasoned and the appetiser of king scallops didn’t see you getting a lot for your money’s worth!
Wonderful setting , welcoming. We ordered the pre theatre and the serving size was great. Too often pre theatre / set menu leave me hungry as they are tiny . Risotto was wonderful as a starter, dessert delicious. The only slight negative is that my main course of Cornish hake, leeks and pink fir was perfectly cooked but lacked any seasoning / flavour which was a shame and the carrots side a bit under cooked. My friend's main was lovely , really delicious and the other 2 courses were so delicious it was a shame but I'd definitely go back. Only other thing is the price advertised on Open table is incorrect for pre theatre. I wish them every success, great service too .
My favorite restaurant in London! Beautiful space full of light and ambiance, and the most delicious fresh food.
The table was booked for a Birthday celebration and they brought an ice cream with a candle and a Happy Birthday plate.
I went there for Easter with my daughter and they had a very nice Easter menu which I ordered. My daughter did not want it as she is on a diet. However some minutes later the waiter came to tell us that this menu was only available if the whole table was ordering it. I find this despicably commercial and not festive at all.
We loved the restaurant and the food. The only thing I would say is the lighting outside, there isn’t any except a candle on the table.Would be helpful to see what your eating, even if it’s just subtle.
