Our menus are designed to offer the best and freshest of local produce, including game from the neighbouring Larchfield Estate and ingredients and dishes from around the globe. As a sister restaurant to the Award Winning Plough Inn, Hillsborough, naturally seafood is our house speciality all year round. Our other sister restaurant is The Tannery in Moria.
Our aim is to offer something to satisfy everyone’s tastes. Our friendly and attentive staff are here to ensure that you relax and simply enjoy a taste of good olde Irish hospitality.
Food was really good and cooked to our requirements - would have preferred more chicken options though.
Our server Rachel was very friendly and attentive, she made the evening very pleasant
Excellent food and friendly staff
Out for Sunday lunch you couldn't do better than visit the Pheasant
Excellent friendly staff as always meal was tasty apart from my steak big tuff vein in the middle of it and couldn't chew it but can happen even at home was not charged for it which was very good of them rest was first class. Will be back soon. Excellent restaurant for first class food and great staff.
Went to the pheasant for the first time with my wife , we had a lovely meal and the service and ambience in the pheasant was great , would highly recommend for a good meal.
Fantastic Valentines 4 course menu tonight and great value with a glass of prosecco on arrival. A worthy choice for any occasion.
Great good. Excellent service. Great value
Have been to the Pheasant many many times and just love the atmosphere and the food is always delicious.
Problem with table booked. Confusion by staff. Two people had taken table 14( our allocated table). It appeared that no staff member had allocated table to the people sat there??Kept waiting until another table was found. Not the best start to a special occasion day out!
Food was outstanding but the service was very poor, After we were seated and given menus , we had to ask for the table to be cleaned , was offered a drink once, had to keep calling waitress to bring my son his beer which never arrived, we had to ask for dessert menus, and at no time were we asked did we need anything or how was our meal or would we like another drink or tea and coffee, when you pay a fair about of money for a meal you are paying for the whole experience, not just a meal and when i go out i like to be made feel special, i don't like to be made to feel I'm putting staff out, and staff would need to learn customer service skills, a smile goes a long way, this was my first visit to the pheasant and even thought the food was amazing, i don't think i would go back. very disappointed .
Delicious food served by very friendly, helpful staff.
We had the holiday menu. I am a vegetarian and had a limited choice of food. I had the stir fry. I was disappointed in the quality of the food. It was very sweet with too much sauce. I wanted a veggie burger but that was unavailable. Would have liked to know that that main menu was unavailable before booking a table.
My first time at The Pheasant restaurant, the service was very good. The waitress was friendly and attentive. All three courses were delicious. It was our anniversary meal and we received a glass of champagne each which was a nice touch. I would highly recommend and will be returning.
Been several times with same experience each time, nice place good service , great food and fair prices. What else could you ask for.
Excellent range of choices on the menu. Food was first class and well presented. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Excellent fresh good quality food freshly prepared. Friendly polite attentive staff nothing is to much bother for them no matter how busy they are. Well worth a visit.
Beautiful food. The crisp chilli pheasant was outstanding.
Food was unbelievable. Nicest meal I've had this year. Highly recommended
Good food at good prices. The menus is extensive and it was hard to choose there were so many dishes I wanted to try.
Have been to the Pheasant many times and have always found it to be excellent, unfortunately this time I found the service below what I have come to expect from this restaurant. Slow to take the order, when first course arrived 1 person’s food obviously not ordered from the kitchen so it arrived 15 minutes later after I had asked again about it. 1 main course arrived incorrectly and had to go back to be corrected. I accept it was busy but it’s a busy time of the year, the waiting staff seems inexperienced.
I had heard a lot of great reviews however I found the entire experience mediocre at best. A TV on with ‘I’m a celebrity’ on and no Music in the back room was a let down creating zero atmosphere.
We where very well attended too but a few of the servers looked confused half the time. The steak was too tough and it couldn’t even be cut with the knife provided and the fat made my son feel ill, but the dog enjoyed it. We also didn’t get everything we ordered for our main but extra coffees at dessert?
The place was very dated throughout but if your looking a no thrills family meal for a good price then try it. Maybe the restaurant offered a bit more?
Great food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Very good service.
Such a great meal for each of us tonight. As always, The Pheasant did not disappoint regarding food, drinks and atmosphere. As a family, it is very rare to get together due to work commitments, on a Friday evening and share good food, wine and company. We each enjoyed our food choices, the wine was delicious and the ambiance was relaxing and cozy. We already cannot wait until our next visit.
We enjoy a lovely sunday lunch as a family of 4. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and accommodated our 2 younger children bringing their meals out first alongside our starter.
The box of toys was a great way to keep the kids seated altough my daughter is a tempermental 2 year old and may of been a bit nosey for other diners
Easy to book, friendly and helpful staff and good food
We were early evening so the restaurant got busier as the evening went on but still remained relaxed. No crazy music
We had their steak offer for two. Really excellent sirloin and sauce and very affordable so will be finding a way to repeat that experience.
We recommend the Malbec red with the steak.
Lovely venue and great food, just really slow service. They did offer apology which was helpful as the chef was snowed under with desserts. I understand why, as they were yummy.
We were put to two round tables which wasn’t suitable for 3 people it felt as if we weren’t together.
We waited 15 minutes before our main order was taken and similar with our dessert.
We had a table for 4 as it was my daughters birthday. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly courteous server was welcoming. Our food arrived promptly and tasted delicious. Mine and my daughter’s Filet steak was cooked perfect (Med/Rare) 🥩 Overall the ambience, the wood burning on the fire and the fabulous flavours of food made this occasion all the more enjoyable.
We hadn’t been to the pheasant in a while and have to say we were disappointed . No atmosphere at all food was just ok . Nothing special about the restaurant at all . We have used the pheasant very often in the past but won’t be rushing back .
First time at The Pheasant. Lovely evening. Thank you.
On arriving at the Pheasant, we were given directions to our table. After about 15 minutes, we were given menus. About another 5 minutes passed before a drinks order was taken. Serving staff were indifferent to sullen throughout our meal. Food was generally good, but the venue was badly let down by poor service. Decor was very dated.
We'd heard about the Pheasant so wanted to try it...ambiance was nice...food was good but nothing special - 3 of us had a range of dishes from fish to turkey to burger, and we all thought they were nice but a bit bland.
When reserving online, we were had the opportunity to say it was a birthday - my son's 18th, but this wasn't mentioned...so why ask?
My favourite place menu varied and food and service top drawer back soon
Excellent food and really pleasant and helpful staff.
A perfect meal. The specials were wonderful, particulalry the pigeon. Great service and ambience.
I was a bit disappointed with the Chicken burger I chose - it was a little dry - but otherwise I enjoyed the ambience and service as always.
Had an excellent meal in The Pheasant. Staff were very friendly and professional.
Food was really tasty and good size portion.
Definitely recommend and will be going back again in the future 👍
First time at The Pheasant although we had heard good reports about it from colleagues in the past. Didn't disappoint - nice varied menu, very reasonably priced and the food was very good. We were in a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed their meal and the ambience. Would recommend to others and will go back.
Great service and great quality food .will be back again soon !
Very nice place, pleasant atmosphere. Food was very good!
