The Pheasant Inn
I meet with a friend for lunch at the Pheasant. Four times a year as it is located halfway between us. It has always been good. In many years ever had a bad meal.
Excellent service, fine array of Find. The staff were both professional and friendly. Our meals, consisting of breads, olives, halloumi burger, goats cheese and lamb were superb. A lovely experience from beginning to end.
Tasty food. Friendly atmosphere. Good gluten free menu & vegan menu.
Excellent meal all rpund.
The service was extremely good - the whole team ( including bar staff ) were very friendly and helpful. Our fish was delicious and serviced promptly and piping hot. This pub is so convenient for the M4 junction 14 with adequate parking - it a great location and super ambiance for meeting friends. thank you!
I like the fact that this place still functions as a pub as well as a restaurant.
Food is unfussy but well done and service, from a young and friendly staff is beyond reproach- not the cheapest but worth it!
A good cheerful atmosphere completes the picture - I’ll definitely be back.
Excellent food, beautifully cooked. All 3 courses. Can see why it was popular on the night we went. Will definitely be back.
Service was excellent, the staff were polite and efficient. The food was also excellent. Nearly every restaurant has fish and chips on their menu so this meal is a good guide to how good the food is in a particular establishment. My partner who chose this from the menu said it was delightful. I chose the mushroom wellington and I didn’t really know what to expect. It was fabulous! Both meals were also beautifully presented.
A lovely experience, thank you!
It's several years since I last visited the Pheasant. There have been a few changes. The Service, food and friendliness of the staff was second to none. Although I no longer live in the area, I have already recommended it to those who do.
Great time, good food
Went for a Birthday celebration and were looked after well. Excellent nibbles and they had a decent vegan menu too. Worth driving to for sure!
We booked an offer of premium room, dinner and breakfast for one night on 6 Feb 2020. The pub and hotel room were superb. The food, which was dinner and breakfast was lovely.
The only dampener was that we were charged a supplement of £25 to cover food items we ordered on the menu at dinner. This was not pointed out to us when we ordered and there was no mention of any supplements on the menu. We thought this unfair but paid it. Otherwise we had an excellent stay.
Very enjoyable experience with excellent service. Ambient noise was fairly high but the restaurant was very busy.
My favourite place to come for lunch. Delicious, original food, warm welcome from friendly staff, incredibly convenient location, lovely decor and atmosphere. An absolutely wonderful find.
For those who need a halfway stop for drinks and eats between Bristol / Bath and London this is perfect. Close to M4, service, food and ambience first rate - and the horsey atmosphere of nearby Lambourn all complete the picture.
The food was delicious, plenty of vegetables , more than enough for everyone, staff were very friendly, very good value for money, ambience was also very good, had a very enjoyable time.
Great food and very good value for money. The service was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Whilst the food and the setting were very good, the service was poor.
The staff were pleasant and helpful, but there did not seem enough of them to deal with the number of customers.
We had to actually ask for everything, wine lists, table water, dessert menu and eventually everything took so long that our taxi arrived before we had time for coffee, although we'd been at our table for nearly 3 hours.
Great country pub and delightful staff. Really good food, too. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, very nicely presented. Friendly staff. Will come again.
Delicious food and good service made the evening very enjoyable
We had a slight problem with our Starter. It was handled very well and knocked off the bill.
We did seem to wait some while between Courses but they were very busy. On a Thursday lunch?
Also we were with old friends so it was not a problem for us.
A good luncheon.
Really good food
Service was excellent and the house wine was good
Good food with interesting specials. Would recommend to anyone as a great pub for lunch any day.
we've visited this pub for a few years now and have always had a good evening. My partner has gone Vegan this month and we visited on Saturday night as the website had a good vegan menu. He enjoyed the starter but it was missing the root vegetable crisps but he enjoyed the soup. However, the main course (tofu burger) was not very good at all. It wasn't a burger but slap of wet tofu. He complained and the waitress agreed it didn't look correct. Another member of staff come over to say someone else had also the same issue with their meal. They kindly took the course of our bill. It will not deter us from visiting again but if the restaurant is going to try and appeal to the Vegan dinners they really need to improve
Went with my in-laws, wife and son to celebrate our daughter's birthday - we had a fabulous evening. We had a lovely time - food was superb. Great Vegan menu. Service excellent and great value for money. No hesitation in recommending if you are looking for somewhere special to have a family celebration
OpenTable asked and we provided information that it was our anniversary but this had no impact on our meal and was not mentioned at any point. Not sure if this is down to The Pheasant or OpenTable though.
Rather mean helpings (especially the veg: 3 Brussels sprouts, halved, one small kale leaf, half a roast potato and a slice of celeriac) and the crayfish element of a first course ‘crayfish and smoked-salmon salad’ had run out by the time of our order at 1.15. Maybe it was it was a reduced, Sunday lunch menu, but it didn’t live up to reviews or my expectations.
Lovely country pub with a real ‘Racing’ feel
Superb gastro-pub; fantastic food; wonderful country-pub contemporary decor; efficient friendly service; easy access location from M4; reasonably priced too...ticks all the boxes and some! Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent meal from menu choice, the service and the food itself
We visited the Pheasant Inn for supper at the end of December. It was a very busy night but the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; lovely young women. The food was delicious; my husband had soup and halibut and I had burrata salad and venison. There was a rather lovely Christmas pudding dessert special which we both enjoyed. The portions were on the smaller side for a pub, which was perfect for us because we'd been eating a lot over Christmas, so we could try everything without feeling stuffed. As it's a pub, some cutomers can drink quite a lot and get a bit loud even in the restauant, but this certainly doesn't reflect on the quality of the food or the staff.
First time. Really excellent fish & chips. Wonderful friendly, fast service. Tables a little crammed in certain places, but a good atmosphere, happy customers. Friendly local crowd at the bar. Very well run.
Centrally located and ideal for a family (of 9 +2 babes) re-union that is scattered over a 50 mile radius .
Booking and service on the day very helpful and courteous. Food and presentation excellent. With two small children, high chair age, staff very good. Overall performance could not be faulted. I have visited several times and had recommended you. All family very happy. Well done.
Food and staff were lovely. Very reasonably priced too.
This was an excellent restaurant, the food & service was great 5 stars
Thank you to all at the Pheasant for a wonderful Christmas lunch. Lovely, friendly staff. Always smiling and helpful. Fantastic food, beautiful surroundings and a lovely relaxed ambience . A lovely experience. I would thoroughly recommend.
Very good food in pleasant surroundings, very close to the M4 and so much better than a service station for a stop. Turns a dull journey into a pleasure.
Kelly, Bea and bar staff were all very welcoming & attentive to our needs - we will definitely be visiting again soon. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all at The Pheasant. Jason (Cirencester)
