The Pheasant Inn
But someone stole my wallet. How and why did that happen.
We ordered two main courses of Gnocchi. When it was served we pointed out to the waitress that both these portions were on the small side as if served as the first course. The waitress checked with the Chef whom firmly told her that the serving we had was a main course item.
Me and cousin and I doubted this and we left the restaurant disappointed.
With regard to the room it was obvious that the previous occupations did not make either tea or coffee as the flex on the kettle was too short for it to be plugged in a suitable socket. The manager had to collect a further adaptor and a waitress made teas and coffees for us in the kitchen.
Room One needed to be thought out regarding facilities.
Both these issues down rated our stay.
Could have been better
Overall a pleasant, relaxing experience with friendly, respectful and attentive staff making all the difference. However the food was pretty disappointing, especially at the price. Bland, totally lacking inspiration and flair, luke warm, raw veg and garnish obviously wilted and not fresh. We went for the food and left feeling cheated of the dining experience we were hoping for. Chefs need to up their game because they definitely let the serving staff down. Big shame.
Great place to meet. Lovely lunch and great service
Lovely food and fantastic service. We were very well looked after. Enjoyable day at the Pheasant Inn
Great food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The only downside is the car park which is sometimes so full it becomes a problem.
Lovely staff, the food was amazing, the fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was superb.
We had a very special and happy time - a birthday lunch for my friend. Excellent food and a most relaxing atmosphere. Perfect!
We had a wonderful Sunday lunch. The waitress went above and beyond organising lovely birthday treat for out party. Excellent food will definitely be back.
Enjoyed our meal & stay @ The Pheasant, very comfortable rooms & helpful, friendly staff.
Will highly recommend
Very friendly staff and nice to have a full vegan menu!
Very warm and cosy atmosphere
Great mid-country location for a business lunch. Very pleasant service and good selection of food from the snack to the sophiscated - lobster and chips!
Very civilised nice service I would prefer slightly fuller fat milk or even single cream in my coffee!
Good food and service and a buzzy atmosphere. A great lunch - again. Thank you.
Lovely pub, very cosy with a log fire and nice ambience.
Food was hot and beautifully cooked. Very interesting varied menu - also have great gluten free options.
Very impressed for our first visit and will definitely recommend.
Utterly charming staff, great atmosphere, good food, the best of gastropubs. Always busy for a reason.
Excellent as usual. Meet friends here quite often & would thoroughly recommend The Pheasant. Well done.
Superb fish and chips with the lightest batter and lovely triple cooked chips
Excellent food and atmosphere, service was quite slow (but is was busy peak lunchtime) overall very good and will return
Suitable location for racehorse enthusiasts. Excellent parking and good food with quick friendly service.
Very relaxed atmosphere. The rump of lamb was delicious as was the panna cotta. Service was very good. Highly recommended.
Slightly crowded, but very good. Lively smiley staff xx
A lovely meal, my Mushroom and Truffle Risotto was cooked to perfection, I even had some to bring home with me! Friendly and polite staff.
A brilliant experience. The food was brilliant and served quickly, the value for money is reasonable and I will definitely be going back!
Couple of small issues but resolved durning the meal.
A lovely Saturday lunch get together. We were very impressed with the choices available. Food was very well presented and extremely tasty. Excellent wine choices too. What we liked in particular was the attentive staff who were very pleasant and knowledgeable when discussing food and wine choices.
Great place, friendly staff, good food and lots ambience.
The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced but the service was poor
First time at The Pheasant Inn.
It was very busy as they had a christening on as well but the service was excellent, they kept keeping us in the loop as to when our food would be arriving so we were never left wondering. We had the sharing chicken which was not very tasty and it came with all the trimmings and well cooked veggies. We took half of it home so great value for money. We don't usually have room for pudding but were tempted to share the special of the day which was a waffle with chocolate ice cream and raspberries, think when we go back we shall request it again as it was to die for.
A great experience and we will be back.
A warm welcome greeted us and we were shown to our table. We were immediately offered menus and throughout the meal a selection of staff checked we were okay and if we need anything.
The food was delicious - the scallops were perfectly cooked and served on black pudding, the lamb was wonderful - pink and melt in the mouth served with minted peas. One of the specials was tempura prawns and they were stunningly good.
There is a a very impressive wine list, excellent house wines and some really wonderful wines by the glass.
Very good meal. I asked whether chef had changed as the food was so much better than it used to be.
The service was excellent. Altogether a good experience.
Excellent and friendly service, great food and a fair price.
Lovely food and nice staff. Slightly slow for the food to arrive but overall would visit again
We stopped at The Pheasant Inn on our way home from Wisley for dinner. We booked a table for 18:30 on the way but arrived early so we had a drink in the bar beforehand. The bartender greeted us and was very friendly and helpful. Wide selection of drinks on the drinks menu. We were the first people to be seated in the restaurant area but a few more people arrived soon after. There were some specials available in addition to the main menu. Service was very friendly, the food took quite a long time to arrive but it was worth waiting for. Generous portions, lovely crispy skin on my sea bass. It was a shame we were just passing through, we would have liked to have made an evening of it and tried the desserts and a bottle of wine.
Our waitress "forgot" our guest's first course, and only realised when the rest of us were being served, by which his choice had sold out, leaving him to sit there whilst we all ate. Additionally, the crayfish salad was very average - not the dining experience we have previously enjoyed. A disappointment.
I keep returning so that’s is the best feedback I can give
Okay, food was not the best quiet simple and tasted better. Don’t think anyone was interested as to how it was. Booked a table but staff unaware of this. Nobody even checked if the food was ok, which was fine as it was only ok.
Lovely meal, Excellent service. Had a super evening.
We loved everything the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food excellent so tasty. Can’t wait to return. I plan to stay with you when my daughter graduates from Cranfield defence academy.
We have dined here before and thought food and service was fantastic. Very disappointed, service was sporadic and everything took a long time to arrive - menus, drinks, food, desert menu and finally dessert. The restaurant wasn’t even overly busy.
Food was also disappointing, the kids mac and cheese was bland - even my pasta loving child wouldn’t eat it. The roast beef was fatty and the roast potatoes was so over cooked it was almost impossible to cut them.
Unfortunately we won’t return after a disappointing experience.
