The Pigs Edgefield
The Style is proudly British, and very local, taking influence and ingredients from Norfolk where possible. You will see dishes from the past, back in vogue at The Pigs, cuts of meat forgotten in recent years, used to great effect on our menus. Although the food is taken very seriously, the style of service and environment is very relaxed and casual.
This is a country pub, and although we are passionate about our food, we stay loyal to the building’s roots and ensure it has the atmosphere we all relish from a pub.
Absolutely gorgeous rooms and communal areas. Tastefully decorated and stylish corridors and as for the rooms- sumptuous superking bed, top quality bed linen, best tv ever (huge and amazing sound system) plus one at the end of the bath, fire pit and sauna. Staff all super helpful.
Nice and quiet too. Thoughtful touches like bath robes and slippers (bigger size robe be great!) plus pig shaped toiletries what’s not to like!!
Lovely aromatherapy oils for the sauna and as many marshmallows as you can comfortably eat - bliss!
Food nice- I enjoyed breakfast more than dinner and great choice of the latter. Plus you can order room service which is very civilised.
Treatments look lovely but are expensive.
The Pigs isn’t cheap but as a treat it’s hard to beat and the nicest place I’ve stayed. Near to Holt which is good as not much to do in Edgefield itself.
Excellent choice of menu to suit all. Love the iffits. Staff always friendly and helpful.
Really enjoyed the food. On checking the bill 2 gin and tonics had been added, which we had not had. The bar staff returned our money without question and many apologies. Only down side was a very loud barking dog who’s owners seemed to have no control. Otherwise will return.
Just perfect.. Cannot be faulted..
Second visit.. Beautiful.
Good home cooked food ,Well presented.
Nice welcoming feel. Having a good play area for children. Outside dining if weather allows. Not the cheapest but well worth the visit.
Lovely child friendly atmosphere! Great to have a games room and play area. And dog friendly. Food very nice. Service relaxed but they were busy!
Sunday lunch was really nice with some plates (non Sunday lunch) going to other tables also looking as good, averagely priced (in line with the area) and have already recommended to a friend who is due to visit the area soon and we will go back again.
Fantastic place, a very chilled, welcoming place. Food was delicious and service was great too, highly recommended
Although the overnight luxury room costs are quite high (but worth every penny!) the restaurant food is very good but not too expensive. The menu is a little limited on mains (with extra specials) but there are plenty of starters and ‘Iffits” to go for and some lovely desserts. Worth a visit in the evenings but don’t forget Sunday lunch - amazing value.
Really loved it
Value for money
Will go again
Booking easy, service friendly and speedy and food good although strawberry tart base was a bit like a cracker!
Great place - kids loved play area - food good quality - more vegetarian options needed.
Stayed at the pig spa so booked an evening meal in the restaurant. Must say the food and service were excellent, my wife and I both had the pork burger which was delicious, followed up by a half pint mint choc chip sundae, also, delicious. Can't rate highly enough- you will not be disappointed.
The food was very good, the staff were pleasant & friendly.
Can’t fault it even if we wanted to. We’ve been a few times now and the food and the service have been excellent.
Lovely food as always. Fabulous iffits, although sad that the Cley Smokey was missing from the menu this time! Pork burger was superb. Desserts were great too.
When arrived lots of staff about but no one seemed interested in serving us? Waited a good 5 minutes standing at the bar while no one was attentive although standing around doing nothing? Food was amazing as usual
Food was lovely we got our mains about 10mins after ordering but it did take a hour from clearing mains to ordering and getting desserts as think we was forgotten about
Nice choice of ‘tapas’ starters.
Better choice for vegetarian and vegan customers as I didn’t enjoy the only option which was the Beetroot burger.
Good dessert choices.
Really lovely place, love the decor and it’s really good for kids too with indoor and outdoor play areas. They were also great at catering for my little one who has gluten dairy and yeast intolerances - will definitely return
Brilliant stay and meals at the Pigs. Would recommend to anyone
Fabulous food and service as always.
Wonderful setting. Varied menu for both food and drink. Our meal was delicious and food was such a high standard, not only taste but presentation also. Staff were so friendly and helpful.
Chicken and bacon salad was delicious! Service very friendly.
Incredible roast dinner and few drinks in the sunshine.
I had heard great things about the pigs and it exceeded expectations.
Excellent experience with per luxury break for a relaxing weekend
Easy booking via Opentable, friendly welcome when we arrived. Nice table excellent service. Food excellent. Thank you.
Excellent place nice and relaxed would go again and would recommend
It was a hot evening and on booking we were lead to believe they were fully booked. There was plenty of space yet we as a party of eight were sat next to the kitchen wall with the heat from the kitchen on top of the hot weather. The food was far from outstanding, even mediocre at best
Chilled ambience with really delicious and locally sourced food - breakfast was the highlight! Room was a family spa one and was lovely, although, the air conditioner didn’t really cool us down as it was too high up on the floor. Air conditioning in the restaurant may also be a thing to consider as it was baking in there!
Very good service and a tasty well cooked meal. Will return when in the area again.
Food was very poor compared to our visit last year. No real summer dishes which didn’t help with choice. Restaurant extremely hot but not one member of staff suggested we could sit outside to eat (the outside area was empty). On a plus side restaurant is dog friendly and the staff accommodating
Thoroughly enjoyable experience - will definitely be booking for another stay.
Excellent food. Well cooked and full of flavour. Would return again.
Always delicious fayre and sooo dog friendly. Will come again.
A good selection of all 3 courses. Great beer and other drink selection. Food arrived in a good time period. Was all well cooked, presented and tasted great. Service was friendly and efficient. We had an overall great, relaxed, and enjoyable experience eating at The Pigs.
Amazing food and friendly staff. Would certainly drive the 40 mile round trip just for a meal out. Certainly great value for money too, the prices are very reasonable when considered against the quality of the food and the overall experience.
Stopped off for some food ,had the pork belly which was delicious, used the Norfolk passport and got a discount , 1st class food at a very reasonable price will definitely be comming back .
We were very pleased with our room. But just outside our bedroom window was a smoking bench. During our stay we had a bad experience of people smoking outside there and the smoke was coming straight into our room. Both being none smokers wasn’t very pleasant at all. I think the table should be moved away from that area because you have two more tables further round the corner out of the way from rooms.
Disappointing! The roast dinner had lovely meat but the rest wasn’t very good at all. The roast potatoes were somewhere between a roast and boiled and tasted re-heated.
We ordered a gluten free roast dinner which arrived with no Yorkshire pudding and no cauliflower cheese which was fine but there was no alternative so was half a plate full. Also no gravy! Very difficult to eat. It would have been better to have known this before ordering as we would have chosen something else.
The smell from the septic tank was revolting, so we chose to eat inside.
