The Pigs Edgefield
Restaurant OPEN from 24th of July. Bookings now available via open table.
Real culinary heartbeat pumps through the pub with a unique attitude driven by our dedicated chefs and the team.
The Style is proudly British, and very local, taking influence and ingredients from Norfolk where possible. You will see dishes from the past, back in vogue at The Pigs, cuts of meat forgotten in recent years, used to great effect on our menus. Although the food is taken very seriously, the style of service and environment is very relaxed and casual.
This is a country pub, and although we are passionate about our food, we stay loyal to the building’s roots and ensure it has the atmosphere we all relish from a pub.

Such a lovely evening, the mains were absolutely delicious. The staff were as ever really friendly and helpful, even when faced with our most fussy and particular friend. Nothing was too much trouble and despite the heat they served with a smile. The ONLY thing I would have changed was the selection of desserts, and my sticky toffee pudding was particularly dry and a bit blah. Luckily the wine more than made up for it. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we'll definitely be back. Sorry!!!
Absolutely delicious food, our whole party enjoyed every meal. Great service and relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
We went for lunch and the food was great. We shared tapas for starters and ate fish & chips and a chicken and bacon salad for mains. We had been wanting to try the Pigs restaurant for ages so the 'Eat Our' promotion gave us a perfect opportunity.
The restaurant was busy and we accepted waiting half an hour or so for our starters. It was when two or three tables who we were sure had ordered after us had their meals delivered whilst we waited. On a hot busy day I wasn't going to complain but the service on this occasion was disappointing.
We will be returning when we go to stay locally in October and hope our 'service' experience will be quite different.
Fixed menu with no specials but plenty of choice and some original ideas. We both had skate which was generous and delicious. I think kale had been substituted for watercress but fine.
Hand wash had run out in the gents and paper towels on the verge of so doing in the h
ladies so staff need to monitor more vigilantly.
Thank god we only paid half price as the quality if food was poor considering the prices. Took over an hour before main courses arrived and the food itself was just average. I feel this pkace is trading on past reputation they no longer live up to.
A girls lunch was enjoyed by the three of us taking advantage of the money off deal - restaurant was very hot and noisy due to being so busy and the extreme heat but service was good and food arrived quickly and when I said I wasn’t happy with my chips a fresh bowl quickly appeared with no fuss - excellent ! The Pigs is worth travelling to to enjoy the food and the rooms n Spa are in my to do list !
Having eaten here on several occasions, we are always impressed by the level of service, quality of the food and the ambience of the surroundings. Very enjoyable-we will most definitely return!
Great 15 mile breakfast and unlimited coffee .... perfect start to a Norfolk Day!
We enjoyed the food we had, however my daughter who has an allergy to nuts was very disappointed that her Sticky Toffee Pudding had nuts in it! This should be noted on the menu surely?!
We were disappointed there was not a vegetarian salad menu on the mains - Pigs House salad with a bean or pulse alternative to chicken+ bacon. The majority of our family are vegetarian and we live locally so always looking for good veggie options.
Lovely meal and the service was excellent, we all felt very at ease.
The dining tables were very well spaced so there was no problem with social distancing and there were some tables outside. The food was fantastic but we would have liked more choice on the menu.
Excellent service, great staff and wonderful food, always happy to recommend The Pigs.
I opted for one of the few vegetarian options; the beetroot, sweet potato and lentil burger. Was purple, in a purple bun, with purple coleslaw too...very stodgy, unpleasant texture.
Waitress was sullen too. I appreciate it was a very hot day during Covid times but we have stayed at The Pigs and eaten here plenty of times...this was a well below par visit. Felt unwelcoming ..sorry...
We enjoyed an amazing roast pork dinner and will continue to visit The Pigs every year when we are in Norfolk as it’s one of our favourite places to eat.
Lovely interior. Attentive service and great food. Bonus of outdoor play area for the kids. Will come back again
Amazing food, fab service (was advised it was the waitresses 4th shift) she was brilliant!!! Great drinks. My all time favourite restaurant. Well worth the trip :)
First time coming here, the place was beautiful, the staff were very welcoming. The only downfall was the food we ordered we didn't enjoy. We will come back again and try something else.
Menus far too specialised for our taste. Am sure ‘foodies’ would love it.
No waitress so had to order at the bar then three appeared to ask us if we were enjoying it...
Recommend Only to real foodies .
Quirky sort of place very nice Terrace. Great if you love pork... breakfast menu lovely..nice bar and surrounding.. great ...
Out for an early evening meal we were seated quickly to our booked table the service and staff were very good the food was excellent and very tasty there had been a small problem with one of the deserts but our waitress was very apologetic and when we paid the deserts had been taken off the bill Would go again and thoroughly recommend the place
fantastic food and really friendly helpful service.
Family holiday - also visiting family who live locally.
Easy to book, also to amend the booking. Food, service excellent.
A very busy lunchtime. The only table available was apart from the main restaurant which meant that we were in splendid isolation for most of our meal. One of the reasons we decided to eat out was so that we could experience a bit of "normality" that is, how life was, before the pandemic. However having a meal prepared and brought to us was very welcome after months of self catering.
The food was of the normal high standard, we could not have asked for better service.
Thank you The Pigs for helping us out of lockdown. We have donated the saving that we had on the meal to charity, The Children's Society.
We came for lunch having booked a table but managed to find one outside so the kids could play in the play area, the food was amazing and great value with the eat out to help out scheme. Service was great 👍
Really great breakfast apart from mine was missing an element, rather than explain there wasn’t any they just tired to see if I wouldn’t notice. Apart from that was a lovely visit
Great children’s play area. Had a very relaxing breakfast while they were entertained! The food was lovely too.
Amazing food and service as always definitely recommend.
Lovely food. Lovely surroundings. However sat next to a very loud party table and at time couldn’t hear ourselves speaking to each other. We benefitted from the eat out scheme so didn’t feel we could mention at the time but the kids desserts were £1.25 for a 50p squirt of cream and another £1.25 for sauce. Kids ice cream was priced at £5 for two scoops, smallest squirt of cream and a little sauce.
I really would recommend this as an eatery the play area is fab. But pick menu standard food. The kids brownie and ice cream was cheaper than just the ice cream!
Lovely food, felt perfectly safe with regards to covid. Friendly, helpful staff.
Very welcoming, staff are lovely. No long delays on food. All round a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend.
Fantastic in every way, great choice of food and standard of ingredients - great value too
Excellent customer service
We will definitely return.
The pub was busy but the three men serving were doing an incredible job, despite being rushed off their feet.
The food was prompt, well presented and very tasty; so filling that we didn't have room for dessert. We would definitely return.
There were a few issue with our room ie: clogged shower extractor not working & audio cable broken which I feel should have been checked prior to our stay & I’m still awaiting response to a few emails. I was also sent an email regarding massage but wasn’t told it would be from an unrecognizable account so I assumed it was spam
Overall loved the stay accommodation food and quality & attentiveness
Such a relaxing experience, will definitely be back!
Upon our return to The Pigs after 4 years, we found it had gone dismally downhill. We visited on a Sunday, the menu was very limited apart from Tapas and a roast, only a few choices over those. Drinks took a long while to come so we went up to the bar to collect them ourselves. The roast had no Yorkshire, pork mostly consisting of fat, and I am 90 % certain the potatoes were frozen Aunt Bessies, really unpleasant. As for the tapas my daughter ordered, the crackling was so hard it almost broke your teeth, the tomato salad had both green completely unripe tomatoes in it slushy overripe ones! The cheese fritters were bland and hard also. And the ribs were stone cold, like not even lukewarm, stone cold! There was no ambience or music on in the pub so all we could hear were the kids in the playground shouting and playing, we had to close the windows ourselves to block it. So disappointing, I hope they up their game soon. But we won’t be visiting again to find out unfortunately.
My Sunday Roast pork was overcooked (and therefore very tough) in parts but the rest was lovely. Not sure The Pigs have got the memo on Covid though. I think the open sweet trolley has risk of contamination and was taken aback to see the waitress replace cutlery on the next table by holding the ends that go in your mouth!
Disappointed. Beef overdone and a little tough. Yorkshire puds overdone. Roast potatoes not roasted enough. Meal lukewarm. Pudding table was OK. Wine came in an ice bucket but was lukewarm and only a little chilled when the readily dissolving ice cubes were added to it.
No hand sanitiser offered. Staff not wearing face coverings.
Our first and last visit.
Absolutely beautiful would totally recommend to all friends and family
Great atmosphere, great food and a great stay overall!
Good quality food that was delicious. Varied menu. Good service, sorry did not get the waitress name. Managed to get booking on a Saturday afternoon on Friday evening.
Just be careful in the car park during street food Saturdays, nearly got wiped out by car driving too fast to get to street food car park area. The lady in car park doing her best.
