The Pink And Lily
HADN'T BEEN HERE FOR QUITE SOME TIME BUT WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED THAT WE HAD A GREAT MEAL, GREAT SERVICE AND IN A REALLY NICE ENVIRONMENT
Went 30 miles out of London to eat again at the Pink & Lilly, as it is yet to disappoint.
My only gripe would be a little ventilation would have made the meal more enjoyable as the low winter sun through large glass doors was baking hot next to the wood burner! The hot, plentiful Sunday roasts were promptly served by really attentive young staff who care about your dining experience, which reinforces your natural satisfaction level further. The casual, shabby sheek ambiance matches the mix of walkers, bikers, family lunch parties and couples eating there - its not high end, but why would you want that in when relaxing in the middle of the stunning Chilterns. Go, eat, enjoy.
Highly recommend you visit when in the area.
Wonderful welcoming pub for walkers. Delicious food served promptly and very friendly and efficient staff
Lovely time with my colleagues after a long day's work. The staff were all very courteous. The food arrived swiftly for everyone at the table (4 of us) and was delicious. I will certainly visit again if I'm in the area again.
Food was great, and the service very attentive and quick.
I wasn't too thrilled with the reserved table, my Hearing Dog didn't have much room to lie and was partly blocking the stairs down to the dining area which is reserved for people without dogs. In theory she should have been allowed in there!
Good evening otherwise.
we were told that there was a new chef and I have to say the food was fantastic. we were a party of 6 so there were 5 different mains ordered and everyone said their food was great. There were a couple of things that weren't available but that's a minor gripe.
The service was very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was terrific as well - no tv's or music just the sound of other diners/drinkers enjoying themselves.
We will definitely be going back!
Always a lovely time going to the Pink and Lily
The staff and the food never disappoint
The food was good but service was very slow despite not being busy at all. The same music was on loop for the duration of our time there and became a bit tedious. Other than that, the ambiance was good, lovely indoor and outdoor areas.
Pink and lolly was a lovely accommodating pub with very yummy food. The only reason I lowered the score for service was that it was rather slow but it was exceptionally busy. We would still go again!
Lovely place with welcoming staff and wonderful food. Great selection of drinks and super tasty desserts too!
Despite the food and service both being really good, the background music was a little on the loud side to say the least!
Good ambience, reasonable value, felt honest and not too commercial.
Such a lovely pub! The staff were so accommodating to me and my dogs, one of which was larger so they gave us a room out of the way with lots of space and were so kind and genuinely friendly! Food was great too, a nice lunch after a walk. Will be back, thanks again! :)
The food was lovely what let it down was the service. We had to get up twice and get our own drinks, and no one asked if everything ok. It was a quiet time of day we were just left in the restaurant so would have thought better service. We even had to tell them when the bill arrived they left all the food off, good job we are honest.
Main meals ordered, 15 minutes later told one wasn't available. Lamb shank came cold and in a sauce which was so strong it was inedible. Chicken burger over cooked and dry, one of the buns burnt.
Dessert - after 30 minutes told the Banana split was off the menu due to chef was not happy with the condition of bananas ?. Sticky toffee pudding cold in middle - tasted like been microwaved, sauce cold.
Ice creams nice........................
Probably recommend it to someone I didn't like
Lovely setting, food good and pleasant staff. Would highly recommend.
My vegetarian son and daughter-in-law would have liked more veggie choices, otherwise a good lunch, thank you
I visited the Pink and Lily with friends and two toddlers.
For my Daughter (who is 19months old) I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich with chips. When the sandwich arrived the bread was cut about 2 inches thick per slice, making the sandwich huge and impossible for her to eat. I checked with the waitress if this was actually meant for a child and apparently it is. She offered to take it away and get slices of bread cut smaller but I would have preferred for this to have been done in the first place? The chips also came with salt on them.... I would have liked to choose how much salt she had with her meal.
The adults had roast dinners and pie which were okay however the deserts were not the best. Half frozen cheese cake and a very bitter fruit crumble which was not edible.
We’re not likely to return, especially with children.... it’s not a very family friendly place.
Lovely pub, great food, great for kids and we had a nice private area for our party of 17. Highly recommended.
This was one of the worst meals I have tried to eat. The evening started with a limited selection of food, with items on the menu unavailable at 8pm on Saturday evening, with only a relatively small number of diners. My taglatelli pasta was uncooked so sent back. On the sevond attempt the Game Ragu topping looked and tasted as if it had been made with chicken and stewing steak. It was also very bland. On giving up on the main course we asked for a pudding which again they had run out of, at which point we paid up and left. Not a pleasant experience.
Tasty food but it was very quiet on the night we attended, which was a shame as there really wasn’t any atmosphere.
Very pleasant country pub, good service and tasty, well cooked food.
Waited over an hour for a couple of sausage sandwiches and a burger, when they did arrive the sausages were cold. Burger and the chips were very nice. More empty tables then full ones, this was a Saturday lunch time.
Very little meat on Sunday roast, small portions, extra drinks added to bill, service very hard to get any
Started off well, attentive host, but went down hill thereafter. Seasonal vegetables which consisted of only green beans (not seasonal in Nov) arrived as I had finished my meal, paying £3.50 for a ramekin of green beans is ridiculous, I didn't pay for these as they were so late. Veg should have been included with lamb shank and mash potatoes, or at the very least more than one veg (or change your menu not to read plural). Thai style sauce on my friend's fish tasted more like a butter sauce, no Thai flavour. Charged for an extra glass of wine which we didn't have and actually £7 for a glass is irritating in a pub-style restaurant. Maybe that's why is was empty by 9pm!
Lovely, friendly bar staff - who joined in our fun evening.
Generally very good. No vegetarian main course option and unable to offer on asking. Whilst eating our desserts staff started to sweep the floor around the adjoining table which seemed rude. Food and surroundings very nice.
Went for casual lunch with an old friend and had a lovely time! The non alcoholic gin was great - you must try! Big portions - we shared a starter had sandwiches for main and a dessert each but no other drinks and cost over 40 pounds so not cheap!! That was after refunding the cost of one sandwich as the beef was so tough it was inedible! The staff were welcoming and attentive and acted promptly over the sandwich issue which was compensated by the warm atmosphere. Lovely venue but at that price I will probably use only for special occasions!
Roasts were fabulous. However, Chilli king prawn salad was less so - prawns were overcooked and lacking flavour. Chunky chips were greasy.
We waited 45-50 minutes for our food - a BLT, two roasts and the prawn salad - no idea why it would take so long. We placed our order after 2pm on Sunday also so hardly peak time.
Lovely location - we had a table in the sunshine outside, but experience was dampened by mixed quality of the food and very long waiting time.
Lovely friendly staff and a great looking if marginally tired pub.
Food was just ok, kids mac n cheese seemed to go down well. My steak pie special was nice, lacked a little depth of flavour abd seasoning. My wife's veggie roast was the big disappointment.
Tired boiled veg and no vegetarian gravy.
Will go back but won't rush to spend £60 on a quick lunch.
Staff are super lovely however so worth a trip
The lunch menu was limited, would have liked more choice.
The food was very tasty, well cooked and presented, and friendly staff.
The dining chairs not the most comfortable for my elderly father in law, celebrating his 95th Birthday.
This was a great venue for a quiet evening meal with an out of area visitor.
Fantastic food. Absolutely delicious. But service appalling. Had to chase everything, (drinks, pudding, bill, card machine) orders wrong, and extremely slow. No continuity of staff serving table which didn’t help. Need to get their act together before we go back.
Good food, good service and clean and comfortable restaurant.
Chunky chips were amazing, however service was lacking
Lovely lunch in very nice surroundings. The staff went to a lot of trouble to make us feel welcome and made sure we had a nice warm place to sit ( it was unseasonably cold). Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The staff could not have done more for my Dads birthday and the food, ambience and customer service was outstanding. 6 stars
love the location and ambiance of the Pink & Lilly but found the menu expensive.I had the fish & chips and thought it had an odd flavour & did'nt think the batter was cooked
Lovely food, great location, quiet and perfect for a night out talking over wine/food.
