From starter (bread) to main meal we waited an hour! We asked twice where our food was and were advised each time it was on its way. The pork belly roast and fish eventually arrived lukewarm. It was such a disappointing meal - the fish in particular was very bland and average.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was unpleasant as well. It became so loud that we could not hear or speak to one another. The bigger tables definitely received preferential treatment over the smaller tables.
We asked for the bill 10 minutes after receiving our meal. It never arrived. We eventually had to tell the front desk where we were seated and what we ate so that we could pay our bill...
Sadly won't be returning or recommending.
We have been here several times and have enjoyed it whether for Sunday Lunch (particularly good), weekday lunch or evening meal.
We are so glad we chose the plough for Sunday lunch, it was absolutely delicious!!
We have already recommended it to friends and will be back!
A pleasant venue serving tasty food.
A little spoilt by a rushed service culminating in the bill being presented without request or confirming that no further drinks or coffees wanted.
Perhaps unfairly comparing it with our favourite eating places in L’Estartit Catalunya.
Not s disaster.
I had a dinner with colleagues as I am leaving my company and The Plough provided just the right location for us. Food was great as always and service excellent.
It was our first visit, and I couldn’t rate it highly enough. The food was brilliant, the service was on point and the pub was lovely. We enjoyed it so much we’ve already booked another table in a couple of weeks, and are bringing some friends!
Lovely anniversary meal. Staff are super friendly and very helpful. It’s becoming our “local”.
Having visited the plough numerous times, I have to say this time was the first time I've been disappointed. The service was poor. We weren't offered both menus or a drinks menu. Waited an age for drinks to be asked when they came "do you want a glass?" Told there was only 1 left of 1 of something to then be forgotten again before taking our order. Service has always been fantastic but highly disappointed on this occasion which happened to be our wedding anniversary 😥
My wife and I had dinner on the occasion of her birthday. The Plough was recommended by our daughter. We arrived and entered through the door into the bar area. Some DIY work was taking place which was quite noisy. I ordered two drinks and a bowl of olives, to be told there are no olives! Bread and olive oil was suggested as an alternative. Having ordered that I was then told a few minutes later that olives were in fact available so the order was altered. The olives duly arrived, nothing special, could have been tipped out of a jar of olives from Aldi! Got fed up with DIY work so went through for dinner. Ordered Chateaubriand but was told that it was off the menu as "it's very expensive to have and we are about to change the menu". Why have it on the menu then? So ordered fillet steak and my wife lobster thermidor. I've never seen such a thin fillet steak. And the lobster was gone in three mouthfulls. The starter of pate was also very measly. Unusually we had desert because the starter and main courses were small. Whilst the food was very tasty the bill came to £109 including a single glass of wine. Overall, not good value and a poor dining experience. Don't go when they are about to change the menu!
The pub looked good from the outside and had a lovely garden area. Unfortunately the food was very poor. We wouldn’t return
Could do more to give everything a bit of pzazz. The service was great and attentive, the food was ok but a bit unimaginative. Especially the pudding selection. Ice cream selection was strawberry vanilla or chocolate !!!!? There are some great producers of ice cream here in Kent.
Its a lovely place to eat. It was around £20 for a huge steak and the pork belly was lovely. There was a large party in when we went which made the noise level louder but the ambience was good and I didn’t feel it was spoilt by anything. Excellent waiters and waitresses too.
Good chef, glad we found him. I have to travel as local restaurants are poor, but worth the journey :)
Very nice. Just a little pricey. We went on a Wednesday which was steak night. Three of us had the ribeye and that was good value.
As a party of 4 we called in for Sunday lunch. Three of us had white onion soup, one had salmon fishcake to start. We followed with three roast beef lunches and one kedgeree. The food was very good. The roast beef was lean and succulent, the Yorkshires puffy and crispy, the cauliflower cheese was delicious. The poached egg on the kedgeree was perfect. The staff were friendly and efficient. Can't fault it and have been there a few times now and always enjoyed it.
Very good table service. The food was much better than expected from a country pud.
Will not hesitate to visit again
Not a good dining experience. Small portion (main course but starter size) expensive for what it was. Sweet not as it appeared on menu - when queried was told chef had changed it - that is fine but then change the menu to reflect the food accurately. Waitress not really too interested in our experience. All in all a costly but disappointing meal.
Excellent quality food. Service was excellent - worth the drive from London.
We’ve always enjoyed eating at this restaurant and had looked forward to sharing it with our friends. Disappointingly we were sat outside the loos and had to wait a very long time for our mains. We asked for our food and the 2 burger dishes looked like they had been thrown on the plate. We then had to repeatedly ask for the bill. The large window onto the kitchen does the serving staff no favours as we could see them tucking into some food as we waited while they chatted. We were told repeatedly that they had had a very busy weekend (- this was Saturday evening) and although this explains why a few menu items were unavailable it doesn’t mean that peak service time can be allowed to drop to such a low level.
Service charge included on bill. Sadly won’t be back.
Only positive is that my meal of the special beef was lovely
I have been over visiting family for a couple of weeks (I live in Western Australia), and wanted to find so ewhere to spoil my Mum with a decent meal in a decent setting. The Plough did not disappoint. Excellent service, superb food and a very charming setting, thankyou, it made my - and Mums - day. Thankyou, and I'll be back the next time I'm in England.
Beautiful interior, lovely and spacious. Service was brilliant although the food was very expensive for what it was.
Excellent food & service a bit noisy though as we were in the large room, prefer the smaller room
Starters and sweets excellent. Main courses dissapointing, meat very tough the beef in particular undesirable. No charge made for main course which went someway to alleviate our disappointment. Service prompt and efficient.
Food and service couldnt have been better.Booking was easy online .
Celebrated my husbands birthday with the family. Very enjoyable afternoon. Very friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Very relaxed too. Would definitely recommend.
With the Potting Shed just up the road I knew I was in good food territory. When I approached the Plough I felt a sense of happiness. The simple, clean, bright face of a traditional pub lay before me.
As I entered I was seen to by the enthusiastic staff that saw me to my seat. I had a good look around and loved what I saw. Traditional agriculture meets modern elegance is the best way to describe it. Not too dissimilar from it’s neighbour, the Potting Shed.
The Plough at Langley does everything really well. Their menu offers an exciting range of traditional dishes. Food is carefully prepared and served quickly. They have a great set menu offer, 3 courses for £21.
Amazing food & staff, lovely decor, wonderful Sunday lunch and a cheeky couple of glasses of very nice wine..... can’t wait to come again!!
Fantastic meal at the plough with my family. Great service and food. Highly recommended.
Great food, lovely place.
We had breakfast here on a Saturday with friends from Los Angeles who were very keen to experience a traditional English Breakfast in a British Pub. We have not been at the Plough before but I must say, we had a great experience. Adam and Rachel were very friendly and accommodating, even gave us free black puddings for our guests to try! Lovely little pub in an English countryside, will definitely come back for an evening meal with family and friends!!!
Another great meal at The Plough. It never disappoints!
Excellent food and service, the evening spoiled (only slightly by the high level of ambient noise.
Last time we visited this venue it was very dated and the food was okay. On recommendation we booked for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Totally transformed the decor and the food was excellent. The idea of fixed price menus is appealing.
Perfect evening with lovely food and very good service.
Both bar staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The meal was absolutely outstanding and we thought it was great value for money considering our choices of expensive ingredients such as lobster. We will be returning very soon. Thank you.
Drinks were expensive, £10:30 for a large wine!!!!! Dearer than London
Great service for Fathers Day.Lovely round table for us so we could easily talk during the meal.Friendly service and excellent food. Will definitely be visiting again
We had a lovely lunch on Saturday the food was amazing and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Great food and service.
I was told how good the food and service was. However our experience was not so. The service was very long with only 2 other people in there! and the menu stated vegetables, plural, yet there was only one vegetable with the shepherds pie. Not good value at 14.50! Gave feedback to waitress at the time. Noy impressed. Sorry.
