Very slow service, long delays between courses and repeated need to ask for menus, etc

We arrived at The Plough to be told our reservation should not have been accepted by OpenTable as they were full, but the staff were charming and made up a table for us that suited our needs perfectly. We all enjoyed Sunday lunch and would very much recommend it. Special commendation for the concept of 'mini-dessert-plus-hot-drink'.

When we turned up, the restaurant did not know about the reservation made via OpenTable - "the booking does not exits in their system" - this can happen, but most annoyingly the staff did not care - tried to give us a random table in the corner with an attitude "take it or leave it". This spoiled the event, really. I will think twice before using the OpenTable-The Plough combination again. Food is good and we enjoyed it (especially scallops).

I went twice within 30 days for the Saturday night special-Prime Rib. It was the best Prime Rib that I have had in years. The Chef came out to the table-a great personal touch. The salads are large enough to share and are delicious. The Chef sources his food from a locally owned family farm.

Very nice pub in attractive village with waterfront setting. Contemporary decor with comfortable seating and not too noisy. Imaginative menu with excellent service. A nice touch was to bring my daughter a drink on the house for her birthday. The food was elegantly presented and looked amazing, although some portions of dessert were slightly small. The peanut butter bombe was one of the best puddings I have ever tasted. Well above the usual pub food fare. highly recommended.

The Plough at Fen Ditton provided a great lunch spot for us and visiting friends. Great location, all our food choices were pronounced delicious, service was attentive and when there was a delay we were kept informed. The mini-dessert-plus-hot-drink option is a particularly good feature. Highly recommended

It was Sunday and accodring to the waiter a lot of staff did not showed up to work. They where overwhelmed as there where no waiters enough. People had to queue long time to pick up food or to get a drink. I am sure it works better during the week. Fantastic garden, good views, kids enjoy it very much.

Very attentive staff, great feel to the place, ideally situated, clean but how can a main course be cooked so that everything tasted the same? Pile high regardless of quality was a pub strategy 40 years ago. Either you don't have to try very hard for customers or the kitchen staff need some staff development. Very disappointing. Starter was good, obviously bought in, the strawberry dessert - three strawberries and a blob of ice cream - also disappointing, sorry, could do better but won't be back to assess.

On booking on this site” opentable “I received the garrentee of a booking by e mail.
When we got to the plough in fen ditton to my surprise this booking was not true , spoke to the manager whom was very apologetic and reported that this site doesn’t register to get us a table very upset at this being a bank holiday Friday lunch for 4 adults the manager was very professional and managed to get us a table.
So do not trust this site Open table next time the manager suggested that I
ring the restaurant directly .
I would like to thank the manager for his hospitality in finding us a table as all was booked up.
As for opentable booking I will never trust this site again.
Our meal at the plough was beautiful and staff very hospitable will go there again but phone them directly next time .

Nice atmosphere inside and efficient staff. Food was tasty and hot, and served on hot plates. Very good value for money. Nice touch was a small bunch of flowers for all mothers on Mothers' Day.
