Gorgeous food, excellent service, have been several times before and always want to come back. The banoffee in particular was lovely
This was our first time eating in the Bistro after a bad experience a few years ago. This is how The Plough used to be and we were really impressed with the changes.
Very pleasant evening - would recommend to anyone.
Good food and location but table was quite tight in a corner and had to sit side by side
Our meal was absolutely delicious the roast beef dinner was to die for my husband had the lamb and said it was cooked to perfection.
Dessert was also delicious I would highly recommend the Plough if you have never been give it a try.
The food was delicious and the staff attentive. The starter and main course portions could have been more generous; the starter especially was on the small side. Overall a very good experience, though, and we'll definitely be back.
Food was better than last visit which was a while ago and only went as was given a voucher at Christmas. Enjoyed meal but service was poor. Still waiting on dessert menu! Waved down waitress ordered a coffee then waved down waitress asked for bill - waiter that had cleared table and asked if we wanted to look at desserts was wandering around other tables and never came back with menu. There was an 80th birthday party finishing off beside us and when they left staff were putting balloons on table for next birthday party - perhaps have a couple more staff on a night with few party tables. Tables beside us were waiting on placing order for drinks and food for quite a while - another table sent food back to be re cooked. Disappointing night.
Service slow - order continuously got wrong and then had to wait for fresh food to be prepared despite clear order.
Excellent service and food. Great ambiance and friendly staff.
Thanks for a lovely evening and good food! Mum and Dad really enjoyed their anniversary!
Fabulous meal for Mother’s Day. The daffodils were a lovely touch. Would recommend
Excellent food, friendly and attendant staff. Very happy and would definitely recommend.
It was nice however the food was almost “over done”. I personally prefer something I bit simpler and there was just a lot going on on the plate. However for someone else this may be something they love. Just not for me. The service was great and they were friendly but efficient. Just not for me
A great restaurant for good food and comfortable ambiance
Disappointing choice on menu. Have never had smoked seabass before and would'nt be tempted to have it again. Also not a fan of black pudding mash, infact, didn't eat much of the main course so not value for money!
Have been before and food was lovely so very disappointed this time
Booked for The Plough bar and was seated in The Vintage Rooms. Noisy, busy, not suitable ambiance or atmosphere for family lunch. Vintage Rooms basically a coffee shop so feel very disappointed with my experience. If I book via the website I expect to be seated in the bar. I did not feel valued as a customer. Food nice but seating area spoiled it.
A very enjoyable experience. Food excellent, service friendly and competent.
This review has been quite difficult to write as its not actually about the Plough but its 'overspill room?' the Drawing Rooms. We wanted to eat in Hillsborough and the Plough gets great reviews so we looked at the menu on the website and booked a table for 2 for lunch. When we arrived we were told that our table was in 'the Drawing Rooms' which was just next door. When we went next door we found a room much more like a cafe than a pub - with children colouring in and people enjoying coffee and cakes. The service was laidback - we were given a menu and then left for 10 minutes. Unfortunately however, the menu was completely different to that for the Plough. When the waitress came back she asked for our food order and I'd to stop her to ask for drinks first. We ordered a glass each of the house white and the house red and she asked if we wanted normal or large. We ordered large. She returned with normal. We felt someone out of place being the only people in the room glasses of wine.
We deliberated on whether to ask the waitress to find us a table in the Plough as this was what we had booked but we had booked a night's B&B in Dromore and were under time pressure to check in so we stayed and ordered off the cafe menu which was much more basic.
The food arrived promptly, was very tasty and good value for money (a burger and scampi & chips) but it just wasn't the experience we had looked up online and subsequently booked. It may well be that locals know to specify when booking which 'side' they want to eat but we are not local and at no stage in the online booking process was it made evident that we wouldn't get to eat in the restaurant and from the menu that we had chosen. Disappointing.
Food great & staff lovely - will be back!
We had an excellent late breakfast and dessert - thoroughly recommend the eggs Benedict and the chocolate pavement.
Excellent from entering until leaving ....food..service...value...as good or even better than you would get anywhere
Great experience, lovely food
