Date night and it was excellent
Although there are only 2 vegetarian/vegan options for mains, the vegan shepherds pie was amazing!
It would be nice to see more choice especially on the daily specials for non meat eaters. Because of the lack of choice I would not make this restaurant a regular visit. They do have a nice starter selection.
Desserts are fabulous. No one came to check on us after our mains were delivered. Bit of a mixed bag really.
We really like the Plough and have been going for 30 years.
The food is always very good with a good variety of options and always a nice range of tasty starters.
Service as always been below par, for the quality of the food and the establishment. The service is good but could be better and more customer focused.
We will be back and often.
Draft from entrance door through to our table. Food ok. But good dservice.
Had a lovely meal. Great service and friendly staff.
Really lovely ambience. We had a booth for four people and we were the last to leave the restaurant. No need to rush off. Staff very-friendly and accommodating
Good overall, great value for money, service straight forward and pleasant, decor pleasing. Starter and mains impressive in terms of portion and taste. Dessert was massive but a bit bland, additionally and not a big issue but coffee was forgotten at end of meal and was still on the bill at time of paying. Still overall would recommend and dine again. Cheers
Haven’t been here for a while and I was looking forward to seeing if there were any changes, pleased to say it was great . We had booked for the mid afternoon slot so missed the crazy lunch rush and the busy evening time. Pace of service was relaxed but not slow, the food service was quick but not rushed and the food itself was excellent
A proper 10/10 experience all round
Arrived early, and as our table wasn't yet ready, we had a seat in the Bar and ordered drinks. Our Server arrived and escorted us to our table. Was very knowledgeable with the menu, and gave us time to peruse it and decide on our choices.
The food was worth waiting on and was well presented. All meals were very tasty.
The Server brought us the Dessert menu and again answered any questions.
Desserts were well presented, and very tasty.
At no time were we hurried or felt pressured to vacate our table.
All members of staff were tidy in appearance, and very polite and sociable.
As we have dined there before, I would certainly return and recommend it.
We were seated at a table beside the door despite the restaurant being empty. The draught coming in was so bad I had to put my coat back on to eat my meal. I ordered a small glass of white wine which was served at room temperature. Whilst the food was lovely unfortunately the service was slow. We waited at least 15 minutes for our table to be cleared and when we got the dessert menu again no one came near us to take an order. It was supposed to be a celebratory lunch out and it was dismal at best. We left very disappointed 😔
Our meal was quite early in the evening and the area we were seated in was to say the least cool.
As the area filled up the area became warmer.
We enjoyed the food though one plate was cool. My impression of the cod cheek was of a pre-cooked item to which was added the accompaniments.
Scampi was good and plentiful.
Wine prices are too high as we know the wholesale costs.
No heaters in the Ladies worked. Toilets were not well kept.
We will be back and recommended to family and friends - Quality, tasty food and lovely surroundings
It’ll we has a fantastic time at the Plough. My parents were visiting for Christmas so took them to the Plough as it is a lovely pub / restaurant. The food was exceptional and we had a wonderful time. I would definitely recommend it there and am looking forward to visiting again.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Shown to our table straight away and all staff very friendly and prompt. Will definitely return
Fantastic food, good variety on menu to suit all tastes at reasonable cost. Service was very good.
The food was not particularly hot and one of the items was missing from the dish( leek and Chorizo gratin)
Because we ordered Champ the waitress assumed that we did not want this as it was also potato ( which was not stated on the menu!!) when it eventually did arrive we had finished our meal and it was not very hot!
Service was excellent, fillet steak was disappointing and chunky chips were more like wedges and not crispy. Also no background music so you could hear people's conversation around us.
The food was great however they were unable to serve about 4 dishes from the menu as they had run out and it was only 6:15pm
Gorgeous food - great price for sunday roast and staff very helpful, pleasant and accommodating
Not a very impressive lunch
As a group of 5 we enjoyed our evening. We had asked for a quiet table and that was honoured. The menu was varied and all of us thought our mains were tasty, well presented and good value. The desserts got a mixed review. The sticky toffee was great but a little too much, the roulade and lemon were pleasant but not a rave review. A little creamy and bland. The coffee was good, the wine was delicious and the service was friendly but due to where we ended up it was hard to catch a waiter's eye as we were passed by so quickly in the alcove. All in all I would recommend and would certainly revisit myself.
Lovely staff who made the evening. Food was nice and portions ample.
We had a very enjoyable family meal in the Plough Inn (in the Bistro). The restaurant is beautiful, the menu had great choice and our meals were all gorgeous. Great service too! We would highly recommend it.
Having popped into a couple of places on Sunday for lunch and unable to get a table, it was so easy to book The Plough on OpenTable. The food was fantastic! Perfectly cooked; sauces were well balanced and the dessert, which we are frequently disappointed with in many places was simply delicious. We will definitely be back!
Anne and I had a very pleasant evening in the Plough, we are regular users of this establishment.
We had a lovely time from we entered until we left. The food and service were excellent.
I met two friends for lunch at the Plough and we enjoyed the experience very much. Food was good, staff friendly and parking convenience...........we will be back!
Although the layout of the Plough is rather confusing when we got to the correct area it was a wonderful experience. The starters were delicious and very well presented.. The mains equally well received. Our only dismay was that we couldn't manage a desert!! The waitress couldn't have been more attentive. We would definitely recommend The Plough.
Great food. It was a hot day but it was comfortable in the Bistro. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. We’ve been there before and will definitely go again
Lovely family meal.
Nice variety and options of specials or normal menu.
Starters a bit pricey
Dessert selection could be better?
Excellent food, excellent service and couldn't fault it, really enjoyable evening.
Some of the food was good but most weren’t of the usual level
Amazing staff. Food was really delicious. Its silly that opentable make you write at least 50 characters to review though
Enjoyed a recent lunch with a friend. Like the Plough but a little disappointed in menu choice. As it was summer I had expected a salad eg prawn open to be available
Excellent meal with pleasant and welcoming service
This is only the second time we have visited the plough, we had a brilliant experience the first time although this second time the food was not quite as good. The starters were very tasty however the mains were disappointing this visit. I had the goats cheese and pepper pasta and it was very tasteless. In comparison to the other meals on the menu it was very basic and cheap tasting. My parents had the beef but they felt it tasted very Asian inspired rather than just a nice roast dinner. My husband had the lamb leg but didn’t feel there was anything stand out about it. This was disappointing as the first time we visited with my husbands parents it was fantastic and the food was brilliant. This time when we visited with my parents it didn’t live up to the hype we made about the plough to them. The service was brilliant as always though and atmosphere lovely. The starters and puddings were also gorgeous it was just the mains that let it down.
Gorgeous food, excellent service, have been several times before and always want to come back. The banoffee in particular was lovely
This was our first time eating in the Bistro after a bad experience a few years ago. This is how The Plough used to be and we were really impressed with the changes.
Very pleasant evening - would recommend to anyone.
Good food and location but table was quite tight in a corner and had to sit side by side
