About

Loved by locals, The POB is an award-winning restaurant in Watford that is the perfect place for a chilled out meal with friends, dates or family. Inexpensive and centrally located on the Langley Way, The Prince of Bengal ticks all the boxes for a brilliant neighbourhood Indian restaurant: Bollywood tunes, Cobra beer, screens for sports fans and authentic, freshly made curries. With plenty of parking and super friendly staff, The Prince of Bengal won the Bangladesh Caterers Association Silver Caterer of the Year award in 2006 and the kitchen continues to goes from strength to strength. Alongside everyone’s favourite classic curries are some modern dishes, unique family recipes and Thali menus.

The Prince of Bengal is a very decent curry house but it needs to decide if it wants to be a restaurant or a take-away / delivery place. The food was good but the service was so slow. I would have been served much quicker if I'd come in for a take away. Not good enough on this occasion

I like my local indian restaurants but POB is always my favourite. Has great lightly spiced curries and glad they always serve my ale not from a fridge. Always go back.

The Prince of Bengal is amongst the best curry houses in the Watford area. It offers a more interesting and varied menu than most and the place is always very busy. Service occasionally can be slow but on this visit it was fine

The Prince of Bengal is a very popular restaurant and for it to stay like this it will need to improve on the standard of this visit. Service was very slow and the food, off a very good menu, was on the bland side. Jalfrezi with next to no chilli flavour anyone?

Not bad - slightly better than your average curry house

The Spencer Arms, Putney.

Very nice Sunday roast. Good amount of food. Average service. Don't sit too close to the toilets!

Prince of Bengal Watford. We had poppadoms to start but they came with no salad, but the sauces were nice. The main meal was really nice although we had to wait it was worth it.

The Prince of Bengal is a very, very popular venue. I went there on a Wednesday expecting the place to be quiet but it was packed, the reason being that it was 'banquet night' which comes with a reduced price offer.

The food, as ever, was very good but the service was slow on this occasion. This was more than compensated for by the excellent value of the meal

Excellent food, as ever, at the Price of Bengal. However, the waiter was clearly new and to say he has things to learn is an under-statement. Bumbling...

Prince of Bengalin Watford impressed yet again. Dinner for 6 at just over £60. Service was impressive and did not hurry us on despite having to turn diners away as they were full. We had a range of curries from medium/hot to light which were all very good. Best curryhouse I have been to in Watford. Only shame was the ale was kept in a fridge.

The Prince of Bengal in Watford is a bettter than average curry house. There is a range of choice on the menu that is not typical. The food is generally good and this is borne out in how busy it tends to be.

Went Friday night to the Spencer Arms.

It took a long time for us to be shown to our table but then the staff were attentive Food was reasonable although the fishcakes whilst being made of fresh salmon were a little tasteless

Came back after great time back in February. Tried two different specials this time and both very good. Nan's are nearer family size. All excellent value. As it was hot, they opened fully up the front doors which was good. Only wish they would keepm ale bottles out of the fridge!

The Prince of Bengal in Watford is a top curry house. It's very popular - pretty much full from 7 pm onward on the Saturday I went - and deservedly so. Good Indian food, with a different menu to the standard, and well cooked.

Very good food. Good value at the Price of Bengal in Watford. Got a drinks order wrong and bill wrong but quickly rectified without any fuss. Good sets of specials that we both went for. Nans are big for their 'normal size'. Good choice of chutneys. Ended up loving all we ate but couldn't eat all we had ordered!

Our visit to The Prince of Bengal was a very pleasant, tasty experience. Their Sunday buffet lunch was excellent value and, with drinks, including 2 glasses of wine and 4 cokes between 4 of us, came to £46. There was quite a small selection of buffet food available, but popadoms & naan breads were brought to the table. Stand-out dishes include their veg samosas and the lamb curry - beautifully spiced and delicious. Def. recommend for family dining.

Good local restaurant that has a more varied menu than most curry houses - certainly one of the best of its type in the Watford area. The food is well prepared and the restaurant very popular - it is normally full at weekends, always a good sign

Very popular 'curry house' in Watford and deservedly so. The POB offers a menu of much greater variety and interest than your standard curry house. Good food at good prices in a restaurant full as early as half 7 - always a good sign. Service was a little slow but, overall, a very good meal

The pub looks good and was popular with familes. This meant the noise level was quite loud, so not so great for the hard of hearing! The main issue we had, though, was the pretty slow service, which was worst for our desserts - 3 ice-creams took 20+mins to get to our table and no explanation as to why the delay. May give it a another try as it was a nice looking pub in a good location.

Really nice gastropub. Well worth the extra walk from Putney High Street. Nice decor. Good pub menu - delicious Shepherd's Pie for £9.95. House wine £13.95. Attentive service. Will definitely go back!
