This was the first time we had been to the Potting shed and it won’t be the last.
Food was ok not great. I had the Veal Escalope- one of the more expensive items on the menu- the portion was huge but the meat was chewy and the breadcrumb coating was too dense. Service was slow even though the restaurant wasn’t overly busy.
Very disappointed have been many times in the past was always good service and food unfortunately this time was a let down mains were brought out to us whilst we were still eating our stater they took them back to kitchen but clearly left them on side as when they were brought back out food was cold they reheated (supposedly) brought out again but food was still cold ...duty manager seemed quite indifferent added to which even if it hadn’t been cold quite frankly was unappetising..definitely gone down hill which would explain why it wasn’t very busy compared to usual Thursday night. Won’t go there again. Is now very overpriced for what you get.
Delicious breakfast, very attentive service, great ambiance. Will definitely come back!
The restaurant is gorgeous and food was faultless and fab! There was one waitress who banged each plate down on the table! Unfortunately there was a guitarist playing and whilst it was beautiful, my friends and I had met for a long overdue catch up and found ourselves struggling to hear over her! My recommendation would be to check where you’re sitting at the time of booking so you can ask to be seated away from the music.
I thought this was a very nice place. Nothing too fancy but food was good and perfect for the quiet night out we wanted.
Lovely chilled out restaurant, good food, staff were amazing, very professional. Wasn’t rushed or made to give back the table after the two hours. Will defiantly be back
Slow service, average food, not what you would expect from this hotel chain would not go again.
Nice food, good ambience. Good value. I’ll be going again when I’m in the area!
It was early so the restaurant was empty. However, the service and food were very good. The next morning we had breakfast and the restaurant was full. Again, the service and food were very good.
The pea and mint soup for starters had decent flavours but was a little heavy on the mint and a slightly thicker soup would have been appreciated. The braised pork belly with broccoli and apple was excellent. The pork belly had a subtle sweetness to it and the apple had a delicious spiced flavour that worked superbly with the pork. The server forgot our mash potato so there was a short wait for that but it was decadently buttery and a lovely accompaniment to the meal. The two course offer was great value for money and the restaurant decor was quirky and full of character - I especially liked the wall at the back that lit up various cups with words to form cricket related quotes.
Really enjoyable lunch with colleagues would recommend. Staff very good
Great little restaurant very near Marylebone station and Bakers Street. Fab set menu, intimate setting. highly recommend.
Excellent service, delicious brunch, yet the Prosecco special has been “discontinued”👎
They charged us by the glass instead of nicely offering a bottle which made sense.
Food was excellent, service needs attention . . . .
Perfect again - 4th time in visiting
Excellent staff - nice small intimate dining with great sit up bar
Delicious food and lovely ambience. One of the staff overheard mention of my birthday and they brought a brownie with a candle which was a lovely touch
Lovely restaurant, quiet and calm, beautifully decorated, charming and obliging staff, nice menu selection. Food excellent, recommend highly - especially the chocolate liegois. PS come hungry!
Lovely food, but sadly the service was a little cheerless and distracted on this occasion
Monday lunchtime, but still fairly busy with nice atmosphere. Food very good and no complaints with service. But surprised by cost, which was on the high side for in effect a main course and coffee!
We had the set menu and although there as ‘t a huge selection of dishes, we all found something delicious to at. Good service. A bit noisy(crying children), but still a nice place to visit.
Good food and ambience. Excellent service
The food is good but the service is hit an miss for such a small place. Everything takes time and you need to ask for service.
Excellent food and service all the time. Thank you
Another lovely experience at the potting shed . Nice lively atmosphere for a Wednesday evening ! Friendly service and good food .
Waitress had very poor English proficiency and struggled to understand basic questions. Placing a simple order was really painful, and every question was answered with confusion. My starter never arrived, so I just gave up on trying again. I wouldn't eat here again. The management might think they are saving money with cheap, inexperienced labour, but they probably lose out on returning customers because of the rubbish experience.
Small but lively rerstaurant, excellent location for Marylebone station.
Love it here. Been a few times and it has been a great find!
Great night. Very accommodating staff and excellent service
Restaurant is below ground level which was quite nice on a super hot day. Possibly a problem with staff on the evening we were there as everyone seemed strained - service was patchy (had to ask for set menu, needed to catch waitress’s eye for requests) and service v slow. I have been before when service was better. Food nicely presented even from set menu - my husband enjoyed his smoked fish cerviche and dab, my soup was good but gammon was v ordinary. Also cocktail interesting and good. Pale green decor is well executed but slightly cold atmosphere. V pleasant live guitar music. Would go again because of proximity to Marylebone station which we use a lot
Lovely food and venue and very friendly staff. Would definitely go again and would recommend
Has been one of my longstanding places to go for lunch in Marylebone - always assured of a warm welcome, great menu and service.
The Potting Shed is located on a pretty and quiet corner of Dorset Square. Unassuming, the entrance is beautifully decorated with an archway of flowers, with steps that lead down to a light and airy restaurant. We had the afternoon tea option which was delicious and filling, and included the option for an additional re-fill of either the savory or sweet options. The staff where attentive and polite and the area was peaceful and quiet.
What a find! We were really impressed with the warm welcome we received and the service overall was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious yet affordable. The new potatoes were a taste sensation and the pastry on the lemon tart was baked to perfection. We loved the decor and the brightness of the room considering it was in a basement and the little touches of detail such as the plant pot wall and the cricketing theme peppered throughout. The whole experience was a pleasure from start to finish and we would definitely recommend without hesitation.
Lovely location midway between Baker Street and Marylebone stations, it's located in the basement of a hotel. It's quite small, and can get a bit noisy; but the staff - in particular our waitress, who was delightful - are fabulous. Value isn't bad and the food quality was pretty good. Good place to go for a cricket fan - lots of bats, balls, stumps and other cricket paraphernalia on the walls! Overall, worth a visit.
A stylish and fun restaurant, with very helpful staff.
Good quality food. Really friendly staff with just the right level of attention paid to the customers. Nice atmosphere, very relaxed and enjoyable dining experience
This restaurant is in the basement of an hotel. The architecture cleverly enables you to see the people on street level and lets in plenty of light. Lovely place to meet up for a catch up cocktail/meal near Marylebone.
A set lunch offered a decent choice of menu and the quality was good.
We went for the sparkling wine included in the offer but would have preferred a different wine had the prices been more reasonable. My friend informed me that the prices were OK for London. I disagree!
This classy and quirky, cricket themed bar and restaurant is well worth a couple of hours of your time.
Sit at the bar and watch your cocktail being expertly shaken or stirred.
At your table, enjoy the warm roll and butter whilst you make your choice from a delicious range of menu choices: Lamb? Crispy tofu? Freshly battered and fried haddock, a burger or lobster linguine perhaps?
If you have room, you may know that a chocolate liegois is a large, chocolate ice cream type sundae. I didn’t but showed appropriately sporting determination and finished it all!
The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
We had no need of an umpire to award this place a six!
Everything is just okay, not bad but nothing special. We like the space and the bar but in general food and service have gradually declined.
