A lovely bar with an excellent restaurant. All meals delicious and served beautifully. Book a table, you will not be disappointed.
Nice friendly staff and good quality food all at a good price
Very reasonably priced food, but excellent quality.
Very friendly staff and chefs. The food was very enjoyable just as much as the atmosphere. This was for a special event and we weren't disappointed
We had a steak dinner, chips, mushrooms, peas and tomatoes with a bottle of wine for 2 for £30. Excellent value.
We walked in and was met with a warm and welcoming feeling followed by a relaxing atmosphere then showed to our table and ordered special for the day and would do it again mmmm
Really lovely food and good price have booked again
Service was great and the staff were very friendly.
Lovely lunch, great service and will definitely return.
Booked a Sunday lunch, never been before. Really great experience, food was great, generous portions of meat, lovely fresh veg.. good service and price not bad. All in a nicely furnished and comfortable restaurant.A really good time, highly recommend a visit.
When we first arrived, there were a couple of other tables occupied and service was great. Food arrived promptly. I think we have lowered our salt intake at home, so we found both the chicken supreme and the pie quite salty but the vegetables were delicious. The portions were generous.
Pudding was plentiful and tasty.
As the evening became more busy, the staff were very rushed but served us as quickly as they could.
A very pleasant evening and a congenial atmosphere.
When I am again in Birchington, I will revisit.
Great for a mid week meal with friends. Make sure you book to be sure. I booked the restaurant but due to a private function we had to eat aside the bar area; but not a problem however it would have been nice to be informed beforehand. Due to warm weather the premises entrance door was ajar permitting smoke from the outside tables to waft in which was unpleasant.
Food was well cooked and service good.
We were looking forward to our Lunch at The Powell Bar & Restaurant as we were recommended by a friend, we were very disappointed that after ordering a very nice wine, it was brought up to the table already open, a definite no no! we weren't asked if we wanted to taste it, if you are a Restaurant then your staff should be trained on how to wait table and also you should have a Wine Waiter. Paper napkins are fine for a bar snack but Linen or Cotton are preferred. The food was ok but needed more seasoning.
We visited with some friends and they were really impressed. I asked for a table away from the music in the bar and they did just that . The meal was really good and freshly cooked. We couldn't fault it.
Waited forty minutes for our starter which was only olives humus and bread had to ask if it was going to be a problem as we would go elsewhere.
Enjoyed a lovely meal with family down from Wales for the weekend. Food was excellent as always !
Visited early on a Friday evening as a party of 6. All the meals were well presented and the portions were good. They didn’t have the wine I asked for from the wine list but recommended another from the same English vineyard. Overall good food at a fair price.
The Sunday roast was wonderful, poetically the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Unfortunately the service was less great, we didn't make our next engagement because of the delay in clearing plates, coming back with dessert menu and then returning for orders, we also ended up quite thirsty and wouldve ordered more drinks if we'd had the opportunity
The food was quite good. The service was poor though. There were 2 staff trying to manage the tables and the bar. It took nearly 2 hours to get two courses and to pay the bill.
lovely place very friendly just the right atmosphere
Disappointed that for a special occasion that they we couldn't have what we wanted from the menu. Having already ordered and served with a white wine for fish & chips it didn't go to well with a steak burger, the only alternative that I wanted. To run out of fish only 90 minutes after opening isn't really acceptable is it.
Beautiful day to sit in orangery, sunday roast was lovely, friendly helpful staff. Made our anniversary perfect.
Lovely food , really tasty and well presented. Restaurant are was lovely and beautiful. Only niggle is the fact you have to walk through a busy bar bit to get to the restaurant and the fact you can still hear the loudness of the bar in the restaurant area , which slightly ruins the atmosphere. Would still go back again for the good though as it was delicious.
Great food, great presentation, reasonable prices - what's not to like??
Excellent service and food quality. Highly recommended the lamb.
Tasty, well presented food. Saturday night so bar area noisy, but our area near fire door at back was fairly quiet.
Went for my sons 21st birthday meal, lovely meal as usual, live singers excellent, lovely sunny day, good to see family’s sat outside enjoying a drink.
Second time here and enjoyed it once again. The decor, warm welcome and good food will keep us coming back!
Callum and his team cooked an awesome meal. the lamb was amazing could of licked the plate clean! Great portions for the money. Front of house staff were lovely and chatty. Food was great! Well done all xx
A birthday celebration for my partner and our first time to The Powell’s. The fish cake starter was piping hot and big enough for two! Accompanied by a bright pea purée... delicious. We both opted for mussels and fries. So fresh and tasty but not overpowered by garlic or herbs like some mussel dishes can be. The lemon cheesecake was fluffy and light and my granola crumble composed of poached fruits, tasty crumble and a quality vanilla ice cream. This could definitely be shared too. Service was discreet and relaxed, the whole experience was one I’ll want to repeat time and time again. How lucky we are in Birchington to have such quality establishments literally on my doorstep. A definite A*
Have been to The Powell for Sunday roast on many occasions as it is so good. Plenty of food, freshly cooked and really tasty. Great customer service and friendly staff. Would recommend booking as it does get busy. Bring back the Marathon bar dessert though, wasn’t on the menu this time and it’s the best!! 😮☹️
Had an amazing meal here on a Saturday night. Food was very impressive, a very high standard for the cost of the meal. All 3 courses were incredibly delicious, my husband and I remarked we hadn’t had food this good in a while. We will definitely be returning for more! Hot fondant chocolate pudding was the best I’ve had!
The pie of the day, chicken and guinea fowl, was amazing!
Nice ambient all around. Overall good food but the roast beef was a bit overcooked/dry. We had to ask for the bill several times.
Went to the Powell bar for the first time on the 17th Feb. Had a great lunch celebrating my mothers birthday. Cannot thank or praise the staff enough.
Good food and generally good service. Would return a gain
Pleasant environment, wide range on menu, good service,
Friend had come down for visit, she had fish and chips and I had the fish special. Both were excellent, the food is always to a very high standard and I am always recommending to friends. Thank you
Very nice Sunday lunch. Took my mum for her birthday and she also really enjoyed it. The roast beef and all the trimmings was delicious as was the chocolate fondant desert. The staff were polite and helpful. Was a tad disappointed the sticky toffee pudding was not on the menu. I'll keep my fingers crossed its available on my next visit.
I had the shoulder of lamb meal and it was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed it. My son had the steak burger which was also excellent and my cousin had the mussels which he really enjoyed. Always a lovely atmosphere!
