The Prince George
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
The restaurant - and whole pub - was closed
(despite being able to confirm a booking through OpenTable).
Disappointed with OpenTable...
The pub was shut and had been since the 23.1.20 but nothing on their website or on the windows explaining that it was shut. So we turned up and it was shut.
This place has gone bankrupt and closed. Didn’t find that out until we turned up for our meal as Opentable were still taking bookings. Assume the pub owners didn’t think to let them know.
The pub was closed for 'safety reasons' with a notice dated 23.01.20 so we had no dinner! I did query with Open Table the fact that no dining times were displayed on the PG website but assured the venue was still 'live' on the system. I may check out the Prince George again to see if it reopens but I have no confidence in booking via Open Table again. The Prince George is local to my home but I would have been furious if the same thing had happened if I had travelled a distance to get to the venue. Pull your socks up Open Table!
The place is no longer open. Booked a table through you to find the place had been closed/shut down
On arriving at Prince George we found the place had closed down!! No notification or prior warning. Previous booking the previous Friday was cancelled after being accepted too.
Called with Wife and Restaurant closed
Rang every day and no answer
Beef roast was tasteless and the meat was overcooked and rock solid
Excellent meal and service in nice surroundings. i will definitely be back.
Fantastic staff but our food was not good at all. Order was 2 roast turkey dinners, fish and chips (which my daughter did enjoy) and a gammon steak with parsley sauce. We got stale potatoes which were like they had been cooked, gone cold or frozen then recooked again, waxy and almost disintegrated inside. One meal ordered was gammon steak with parsley sauce, was brought a roast turkey dinner and when explained should be gammon, they just removed the turkey and pigs in blankets and slapped a gammon steak on and a couple of pieces of parley on same plate, no parsley sauce in sight. The carrots were rock hard and unappetising. The desserts were better. Service was very good though and I'll put it down as to being very busy as it was full but I wouldn't return.
Always great food always great service staff are super friendly a must if you are in Watford
We did a Steak & Chips Groupon offer. It was tasty, however a small portion of chips & one of our steaks was quite fatty & gristly. We ordered 2 side salads as extra's but they came smothered in a sweet/honey dressing which I did not like. So disappointed we wont told it came with the dressing. Lastly, no one asked if our food was ok... but overall its a lovely pub & we have enjoyed the Sunday roast in previous visits.
The food and service was good at the Prince George. The only criticism I would say that it is a bit pricey and when sitting on the other side and not the main part near the bar when it gets busy we found that we were forgotten about. I had to go to the bar to ask about our desserts and the bill as we were waiting for a long time for it. Other than that I would recommend it and would go back again.
Excellent as usual great food, drinks and staff.cant wait to try new Christmas menu.
Excellent roast dinner
Ginger waitress was fantastic, everything else was dreadful. Don't put potatoes in a microwave.
Great food, good service, staff who are knowledgeable about allergens. Now an old faithful.
We had a really lovely family meal. Staff were lovely, polite and helpful.
Lovely food and extremely welcoming staff. An ideal place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
What a wonderful place! Ambiance fab... comforting, homely, warm
Staff were amazing, couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful
My dad (81) got a birthday dessert!
Would recommend to anyone and when I’m back in Watford I will definitely return
Great Sunday lunch. The beef was delicious. Good service, friendly and efficient.
Will definitely go back.
Lovely good, lovely service. A lovely afternoon
We enjoyed a perfectly cooked Sunday roast, all 5 of us very happy with our meal. Slightly on the expensive side but very good quality.
Great food and value. Attentive service.
There is a good choice, with something to suit everyone. The food is delicious but for a family of 4 it is a treat that we couldn't afford too often. Worth every penny as a treat though.
I think the Prince George is great value for money and the food is good. The portions are well sized (we had a chicken burger and a rack of ribs) and we loved the ambience and friendly pub vibe. I want to come back again.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Will def go again soon.
Just a nice place for a Saturday night dinner. The steak is beautiful!
Great little pub for dinner with the kids... staff and food were great! Kids had a little run around in the beer garden are which was very nice and relaxed! Great place to go after a tiring tour of Harry Potter.
Excellent interior, great ambience, in general food was top notch. A very nice, friendly pub.
Best Sunday roast I've had in as long as I can remember, lamb was perfectly cooked and delicious. Service brilliant as always.
Seven of us went to celebrate my dad’s 82 birthday, lovely evening had by all and dad thoroughly enjoyed his BBQ platter.
Very friendly and helpful staff, I visited with my daughter and her 2 friends all age 11. The food options were varied and with plenty of choice and very much enjoyed by all.
I would definatly recommend to a friend.
This is fast becoming our favourite pub. The food is really, consistently good and the service is really great. Quick, efficient but also so friendly and welcoming. It's dog friendly which is a huge plus for us as we have a small puppy who we can't leave alone for long so we can have a relaxed evening and the steak night was fantastic value. We went for a family meal with our teenager and all of us really enjoyed ourselves
Really great lunch at the Prince George for Fathers Day. We have a young baby and the pub reserved us a nice large table in the corner so we could fit the buggy. As it was Fathers Day the pub gave out goodie bags for the Dads which was a lovely touch on my Husbands very first Fathers day. Food was great and staff helpful and friendly.
Superb food. Great location. What more do I need?
Great find, best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages. The food and service were excellent.
Will definitely visit again.
We were on a visit and stayed over in Watford. We’d had a looked at a few eating places via websites and decided to book The Prince George for an evening meal.
The Prince George is a wonderful place to eat and the drinks are good too. We were made to feel really welcome and the food on the menu didn’t disappoint either. If we’d have been staying in Watford any longer we’d have definitely eaten there again.
If ever you are down that way, don’t miss this “jewel”.
Good food, good service and good prices too.
We’ll be back!
It's a shame the majority of the menu remains the same .
I had the roast chicken , it was a little dry
Normally food is very tasty
Very friendly and helpful staff. Had the lamb roast which was amazing! Very generous portions. Would definitely recommend.
