The Prince George
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
Seven of us went to celebrate my dad’s 82 birthday, lovely evening had by all and dad thoroughly enjoyed his BBQ platter.
Very friendly and helpful staff, I visited with my daughter and her 2 friends all age 11. The food options were varied and with plenty of choice and very much enjoyed by all.
I would definatly recommend to a friend.
This is fast becoming our favourite pub. The food is really, consistently good and the service is really great. Quick, efficient but also so friendly and welcoming. It's dog friendly which is a huge plus for us as we have a small puppy who we can't leave alone for long so we can have a relaxed evening and the steak night was fantastic value. We went for a family meal with our teenager and all of us really enjoyed ourselves
Really great lunch at the Prince George for Fathers Day. We have a young baby and the pub reserved us a nice large table in the corner so we could fit the buggy. As it was Fathers Day the pub gave out goodie bags for the Dads which was a lovely touch on my Husbands very first Fathers day. Food was great and staff helpful and friendly.
Superb food. Great location. What more do I need?
Great find, best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages. The food and service were excellent.
Will definitely visit again.
We were on a visit and stayed over in Watford. We’d had a looked at a few eating places via websites and decided to book The Prince George for an evening meal.
The Prince George is a wonderful place to eat and the drinks are good too. We were made to feel really welcome and the food on the menu didn’t disappoint either. If we’d have been staying in Watford any longer we’d have definitely eaten there again.
If ever you are down that way, don’t miss this “jewel”.
Good food, good service and good prices too.
We’ll be back!
It's a shame the majority of the menu remains the same .
I had the roast chicken , it was a little dry
Normally food is very tasty
Very friendly and helpful staff. Had the lamb roast which was amazing! Very generous portions. Would definitely recommend.
Another great evening catching up with friends in a cosy pub.
Two of us had the schnitzel and two the macaroni cheese. Could not fault the schnitzel, very tasty but my friends both found the macaroni cheese a little dry.
As ever, friendly and efficient bar staff and waitresses.
Will be back soon!
Great food at a great price....its not(i think) trying to be a gastropub ie no over priced scotch eggs but serving up restaurant quality food at pretty much pub prices....great find, will be back
Always great food, lovely location and great tring beers. Staff are very friendly and helpful!
Great service and food. A little too noisy for me, but to be expected on Friday night. Will be back.
The pub is very nice inside. The food is good and the staff is friendly and attentive. The noise inside is very loud, but it is understandable, it's a pub. I'll definitely go back with my friends and my family.
Waiter presented us with vegetables whilst half way through meal. Hilarious.
The Prince George pub is always a pleasure to visit, the staff are polite and attentive. The atmosphere is lovely, ideal for a meal and a chat, which for me is a fantastic evening (really dont like loud music). The pub is family friendly and allows dogs.
Delicious roast as always, lovely to have such a good pub at the end of our road
Yes it's good. I mean really good steaks. The value is outstanding my wife was chuffed which means I'm a happy man. Why go to Ciller and Marter when the steaks are almost as good for a third the price
The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and happy with our meal and evening out. Excellent meals and timings, a lovely place to meet with friends and chat over well-cooked and presented, good value food. Thank you.
Irish waitress was accommodating and very attentive, food was lovely, a little pricey for a pub but overall experience was very good.
My partner liked the selection of beers on offer.
We had come here for dinner after a visit to Harry Potter World. The parking was a bit of a pain, but we found a space in one of the side streets. The service was prompt and the lady gave us advice on what to eat. The food was hot and tasty - not the onion rings - these were greasy. We had dessert and a bottle of wine and thought the meal was good value for money. Our only criticism was that our table was cleared while one member of the party was still eating - it was not busy and I think they could have left the plates till we had all finished. That aside, if we were going back to Harry Potter World we would go there again.
Three days before Christmas and they had run out of turkey. The reason given by the waitres for this was because it was popular. Well of course it was popular, it's Christmas. We were not advised tha turkey was not a available when we were given the menus.
Meal was fine. Service was very good. The place was very full and therefore noisy with chatter. Thought lemonade spritzer was a bit pricey.
Fantastic as always!
We were politely greeted on arrival
It took almost an hour for the food to arrive and one order was wrong. Luckily, we were not in a hurry and we were the only diners
The front door kept opening letting through the freezing air.
The food was good and it was a cute restaurant, with an open fire
Friendly staff, tasty food and the ability to book a table on a Friday night - what's not to like?!
Traditional restaurant and bar with excellent food and a good choice of ales. Ideal for polite conversation.
Steak nights are real bargains.
All good. Very friendly, relaxed and a lovely atmosphere. good and pleasant staff.
Great place and fresh, well prepared food.
Excellent steak, good wine, friendly efficient staff. Attractive decor
Good Sunday roast, very tasty and food came hot. Friendly staff nice atmosphere.
Great food Very generous portions Staff were welcoming Nicely decorated inside the pub
The Lamb was excellent. Cleared the plate. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A home from home
Fantastic food, great staff! Nothing was too much trouble! Friendly and approachable team and Lamb sunday roast was brilliant! Obviously you have to get in early as they did run out of certain sunday dinners! But thats a sign the food is so good!!
Met friends here for lunch pre Harry Potter Studio visit. Butternut squash soup & bread was very good, as was the steak, caramelised onions & camembert sandwich. Steak was cooked to perfection (rare to medium). All from the additional lite lunch menu. If we had wanted a more substantial meal there was plenty of nice choice on the main menu. We also had a Prince George burger with a fried egg with chips - devoured rapidly by the teen recipient who said it was excellent. It was Friday lunch time and the pub was generally quiet but it was only 12.30. Staff were friendly and attentive. Car park at the rear of the pub but only 5 spaces realistically. Only positives for this pub which is a good stop before the HP studios if you have an afternoon timed visit.
Really nice place to get together with friends for dinner & drinks. Professional crowd not full of teenagers. Warm cosy feeling
We've been to The Prince George many times previously so we already knew the place is lovely. The food has always been very good - outstanding in fact. However, on this occasion, the ham hocks were not cooked enough and so were almost impossible for two of our party to eat…including my husband, whose birthday it was we were there to celebrate. We were also disappointed that our daughter's first choice of vegetarian meal was not available, the Vege Shepherd's Pie - it seemed strange that one couldn't be made…I'm hoping that they are not merely 'bought in' and they had run out. We also disappointed that our choice of vegetables were not available. The reasons cited were that Sunday lunches had cleared their stock, but this was a Wednesday - surely someone should have ordered more stock in for the week? We were compensated for the ham hocks being inedible by having them removed from the bill, but we did come away feeling a little wary of our experience there next time.
Completely different from most of Watford's other restaurants. Very well prepared food, real ale and clean warm environment.
Second time of eating here, both times have been great. Good food, friendly staff, and lovely venue. I highly recommend it!
My husband and I eat here lots and it is our favourite pub however this Sunday I was very disappointed with my gluten free meal. The waitress wasn’t confident about telling me which options were gluten free and then my roast dinner (that was ordered gluten free) was served with bread sauce, which had I not questioned it would have made me very poorly. The waitress took the bread sauce away but I didn’t feel reassured that the rest of the meal was OK to eat.
This is a shame as normally the staff are very good and the food is wonderful.
