We had a lovely evening. It was busy, we had to wait quite a long time to be served. The food was excellent, atmosphere was great. Definitely go again

Great food and service. One of the best outdoor covered areas we found in the area, which was very much needed due to COVID restrictions and poor weather!

Had a great lunch at the puffing billy. We cycled here from Exeter, and it was really easy to find. There is a bike rack to lock our bikes up meaning we could forget happily forget about them while we ate. On arrival it seemed quite busy and it took about 30 minutes or so for the team to take our food order, we were getting a bit cold due to covid restrictions meaning we were outside and the weather was turning. But our food came quickly and was really yummy. Thanks for a great birthday lunch!

Outstanding food, the service was a littel slow but that is to be expected.

The park next to the pub is great for the kids.

It’s the best roast in Devon I’ve found.

Food was very good. Service was average. Drink was made wrong and was quite annoying thst different staff asked the same question. Shame they could be designated certain tables. Really like the outdoor cover. Would certainly recommend.

Wasn’t happy at first to be given our precooked table for two NOT under the outdoor canopy when rain was forecast. On asking, waiter was very helpful and we were moved to a table under canopy as luckily there was one available. My vegan roast was excellent and my husband’s fish burger was very very good. They were v busy on bank holiday Monday so verybusy but we weren’t offered dessert menu so we just asked for the bill as we weren’t fussed but it would have been better to have been asked if we wanted dessert or coffee.

A very enjoyable visit in the circumstances. Food was on the whole excellent but the roast was disappointing - roast potatoes and parsnips were good but with only just one small head of broccoli there was not enough green veg on the plate! The Beefburger meal was, however, very good indeed and the puddings, although expensive, were excellent.

Three out of the four meals were good. The roast dinner was not. Hard undercooked vegetables, hard Yorkshire’s. We should have complained at the time. The fish platter was delicious, and other food was enjoyed.

Value for money down because the wine was so expensive £29 for a bottle of Chardonnay. £22 for Sauvignon more acceptable but still over the top.

One of the reasons for choosing was because they have heaters. Only two up, and we were far away from them, but to be fair they said they have more on order. We were asked what the occasion was and I wrote it was for a birthday. Had hoped that would be acknowledged, but nothing happened.

Puffing Billy has always been one of our favourite places to eat, thought they did well under difficult lockdown situation.

It’s been a while since we lasted visited the Puffing Billy . This time we were a little disappointed with the menu ,perhaps this was due to Covid . The staff were welcoming and there were blankets provided for when it got chilly . A much needed gathering with our family

Super food and drinks - all our group of six REALLY liked what they selected.
Good service and a fun visit. Our only observation was that we were some distance from the space heaters.
Would return in a heartbeat and recommend.

Outside because of Covid rules. It was raining when we arrived but all seating well under a huge canopy so quite comfortable. We were 30 minutes earlier than booked but got a table straight away. I had fish cakes as a main dish and they were fabulous with lots of fish (unusual !) My husband had mussels which he enjoyed. The chips were excellent too. All staff efficient and nice. Lovely relaxed lunch

Service was very poor and very slow. Waiters and waitresses only loking down at the floor so very hard to catch their attention. Even then it took a long time.

Outside area and food were both lovely however slightly pricey given the poor service due to one forgotten starter, no cutlery, condiments or napkins (had to ask for them) also requested a finger bowl for mussels 3 times before we got it. And we were never offered a dessert menu nor was the table ever checked on.

Ordered a prawn sandwich with a Bloody Mary sauce and chips. sandwich arrived with no sauce just a few prawns on a bed of lettuce, it was tasteless. I was charged £2 for 6 chips as a side order. It’s a shame because we really like the Puffing Billy but this was a disappointment.
