Built in the early 1790s, The Pump Room is one of the city’s most elegant places to enjoy stylish, modern-British cuisine. Offering brunch, lunch and traditional teas, it remains the destination to meet, dine and soak up the entertainment. Historically frequented by Bath high society, the splendid Georgian features are almost unchanged, creating a timeless feel, enhanced by the famous Pump Room Trio and resident pianists.
The best food, service and atmosphere. Couldn’t have asked for more for my partner’s birthday
Absolutely wonderful experience. Lunch was incredible, such a great price for the 2 course lunch meal. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was beyond perfect. Service was impeccable and the drinks choice they had was so broad.
The food was fantastic 5* one of the beat meals I’ve had in a long time. I took my mother there for an early Mother’s Day treat and she loved it.
It was a wonderful experience, the food was fantastic we had champagne. I think the most lacking was service their appeared to be enough staff but it was difficult to be waited on, our server was very nice but I felt that she just reallywa Ted get through this quickly.
Realy enjoyed the background music, the pianist and the trio. The afternoon tea was tasty and a good selection.
Lovely experience staff very professional but friendly, relaxing environment with background music provided by talented musicians. My only criticism having ordered the traditional afternoon tea I would have liked my tea served in a bone china cup and saucer not a plain white thick heavy cup the kind I normally get served coffee in.
Food was lovely, beautifully presented and staff were very attentative. Nicest afternoon tea I have had xxx
great food, really great service and the room was the delight to be in. we have already planned our next visit.
I took my Mum to celebrate her birthday and it was great
Took my mother for her birthday.
Pianist played happy birthday as they brought out a cupcake with a candle. Nice touch!
We are now going to be booking the pump rooms when we visit bath every three months.
Pleasant athmosphere, good food but on the more expensive side.
Delicious lunch in the beautiful Pump Rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience including the beautiful piano playing. Highly recommended.
Superb Sunday breakfast in a gorgeous setting.
It is a very beautiful restaurant and I really enjoyed the live music.
Nice ambience and generally good. The starters we ordered were uninspiring (prawn cocktail a kick back to the 70's) and the blue cheese tart more like a hunk of standard quiche, but the mains were good. My desert was not an egg custard and had no nutmeg, more like a vanilla tart so disappointing.
A pleasant place to lunch, but the food could be better. Enjoyed the live music!
Traditional afternoon tea with champagne for a birthday treat. The pianist played "happy birthday to you" which made it extra special and memorable for my friend. Always have a fabulous experience here.
I was treated to a Somerset High Tea for 2 by my work colleagues. My husband and I decided to visit at lunchtime and we booked ahead as the voucher advised. The service was fantastic, the food delicious and the ambience was perfect especially as the pianist was playing and were several birthday groups in the room too. Lovely experience.
Had afternoon tea, was very tasty. Excellent service nice piano and strings trio playing in background. Thank you
What a lovely experience. The afternoon tea was really tasty and will definitely come again. The pianist was great despite the 30 min break. The environment was wonderful. Thank you
Excellent quality food in a elegant setting and with good and unobtrusive service. The addition of music from an accomplished pianist and string trio contributed to a very pleasant and relaxing experience.
Were in Bath for a few days and decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea. Lovely experience from start to finish. Ambience was beautiful and the staff were wonderful. Can’t praise them enough. Our waitress asked about any dietary requirements and offered alternatives. Thank you all for making our experience thoroughly enjoyable.
Amazing for my girlfriends birthday would definitely come again!
Beautiful surroundings, delicious food and lovely ambiance.
We enjoyed the experience but it felt like we had gone back in time where the decor and carpeting were all a little faded and tired.
It was crowded and noisy and we could hear other conversations close to us - not very intimate.
The tea was yummy but very expensive - were the scones home-made?
Waited to be seated although booked - very busy vibe, which was nice, however seemed others were prioritized over us. We opted for the traditional afternoon tea for two - tea arrived in teapots that had seen better days - not what you'd expect of a place like the Pump Room - overall it was average and certainly not worth the £27 EACH - needs updating
It was the treat that we had hoped for. Thank you very much.
The Ambience at the Pump Room is quite special. You can imagine Jane Austen taking afternoon tea at the next table, listening to the same trio of musicians that entertain you. The service was impeccable, friendly and attentive. It's not cheap, but it is an unforgettable experience and well worth the money. Quitessentially English.
We had an afternoon tea for my mum in law and it exceeded expectations. We often avoid tourist places, but the atmosphere is worth the price with live classical music and a grand dining room. They also made our mum feel very special. Lovely.
Received a voucher for champagne lunch as 60th birthday present ,nothing on menu we liked so offered alternative of afternoon tea ,not really an equivalent to a 3 course lunch ,very disappointed, would not recommend unfortunately
Excellent loved the piano player in the corner - atmosphere lovely also
Atmosphere and food were of a really high standard.
The music added to the whole experience
Throughly enjoyed the afternoon tea.
The pump room was beautiful, had a wonderful ambience and excellent service. The food was good but the menu lacked a little variety.
The pump room is exactly what you expect. The service is attentive and the produce is lovely. I personally like the music but I can imagine that some people find it over the top.
Always such a treat! Visited for afternoon tea with a friend and had a really lovely time. The atmosphere is wonderful, the musicians are so talented and make it feel so special. The food is incredible, and the staff are all so friendly, kind and attentive. Couldn’t recommend more!
What a wonderful, quintessentially English venue. Outstanding food and surroundings, beautiful ambience with a pianist entertaining throughout an excellent lunch. The Pump Room is a must visit if you’re in Bath.
Excellent overall experience many thanks
My daughter arrived first, placed orders and mentioned rest of the family would arrive in 10 minutes, so that the restaurant could prepare the food. We arrived with no one noticed, this no request about our drinks. And total waiting time was 45 minutes for the food. People arrived late was eating and we had to chase our food for them to come. The afternoon tea set was bad, other food eatable but wouldn’t say it’s good or tasty. And there is no tables with the view of the Roman Bath, if we knew that we wouldn’t have booked lunch here.
A wonderful experience & I had the most fantastic gluten free scones & cakes. Looking forward to my next visit!
Beautiful setting, attentive service, good selection of teas. Too much food for me though! One scone would have been enough.
The orchestral trio provided a lovely atmosphere too.
You MUST book!!
Memorable surroundings, classic high tea. Just what one would expect when visiting the historic of Bath.
