The Queens Arms- Sherborne
Our philosophy is 'measuring our food in meters not miles'
We strongly believe in the provenance and quality of all our food that is why we source as much as possible from the stunning South West countryside and local producers.
We have chickens and pigs on our own smallholding and the head chef works closely with our neighbour to provide us with Corton Denham grown fruit and vegetables.

Fantastic food and lovely warming service, would highly recommend
Would have been nice to be met at entrance and ordered drink on arrival. I was waiting for service for 15 mins. And had to ask members of staff to turn music on as was silent, little atmosphere. Wine and food was good tho
Had a gorgeous lunch in the outside marquee.. would have loved to have been inside but the rules said no. So ambience wasnt as lovely as inside would have been...but that is nobodies fault. Service and food were excellent.
We ate outside. It was very well set up and warm with patio heaters and blankets available.
The service was quick and efficient and the staff were all very pleasant. The food was excellent and we would definitely eat there again.
A great outdoor marquee set up for Covid compliance with heaters, a fire pit and rugs. Service was very prompt and the mulled wine made me feel as if I was in a ski resort, which as I was wearing full ski clothing was appropriate. Worth a visit.
By far my favourite local! Love the atmosphere and interior here xx
Food was good as always - though I couldn't detect any hint of the lemongrass supposed to feature in the (otherwise very tasty) hake dish.
Service was a bit slow, but waiters were friendly and apologetic, and explained that they were more than usually over-stretched.
We did feel more could have been done re Covid-proofing though (especially as we were there with my 80-year old mother). Our table location near the front door meant that one member of our party was less than a metre away from every customer entering the pub. Plus there appeared no attempt by the waiter to bring drinks and plates on a tray and we then help ourselves. We have seen these measures in use in other restaurants and they don't take much but they do increase confidence in the seriousness with which Covid prevention is taken.
Meanwhile, as the 2nd lockdown looms we wish you all the best for getting through it - & look forward to returning on the other side...
Excellent food, extremely tasty meal. Friendly service.
Excellent service, the second couple in our group were delayed and everyone was very "chilled". Great to return and will be back again.
Delicious hake, very generous portion. Cosy but classy country pub.
Fabulous, always such a pleasure to eat here. Thanks all
All carefully arranged and organised. Good service. Delicious and well-presented Hake main course and Sticky toffee pudding with the Wednesday discount.
Delicious food in a fabulous well groomed pub!
Exemplary food and service
Lovely food, lovely service!
A lovely evening out 😀
A small menu means they can present food extremely well, and they certainly do. The menu was well balanced and would appeal to most customers.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the young servers very attentive and well trained.
Will we return? We have booked already for Christmas Day lunch.
A great pub for a walk followed by lunch. Even the dog was welcome.
This was by far the best meal that we had eaten on our short break away - a real treat. Some beers were not available and the table was sticky, but all felt covid-safe and friendly.
Worth a journey to eat such yummy food.
The best Sunday lunch we have had for a long time.
Very nice meal, the roast beef was delicious and the presentation of both courses was excellent. Service was a little slow which was a shame as the place was almost empty and we had dirty plates in front of us for 20 minutes but other than that it was a lovely lunch.
Lovely food, friendly service and a beautiful location. Always a pleasure to eat there as the food is without fail, excellent.
Lovely pub! Have been before with my husband. This time with friends suggested a walk to Cadbury Castle then lunch. Will come back in the winter if the fires are lit.
Great place for us to stop off on way down A303 without going too far off route
A lovely pub, great service, very clean and welcoming and fantastic food - try the burger!
Lovely garden with great team and perfect for a Saturday Lunch.
Right from the start you knew it was going to be good. When we went, Wednesday evening, it wasn't busy. We had booked a table for inside but upon arrival where asked if we wanted to sit outside by one of the brilliant young staff. So we sat in the garden, under a canopy.
The service was attentive and quickly we had drinks and menus.
We had a starter of Mackerel pate served on a sourdough biscuit with a croquet of mackerel
My partner had Mushroom risotto and I had Guinea Fowl. All the mains and starter were excellent. It was let down by puddings however. We both thought they were not to the same standard.
Overall I gave this a 5 rating as it really is a great place with great staff
Incredibly in every department, highly recommend. 10/10.
Lovely food, quiet ambience, will be coming back when we can!
Beautiful outdoor dining, interesting menu choices, Venison carpaccio very well presented good quality Viognier by the glass without huge mark up
Stumbled across this gem - offering excellent food and a great stage for a first pint post lockdown and some really exceptional food.
Always enjoy visiting the Queens Arms. Never feel rushed and food always good quality. Friendly staff and really nice pub. Very cosy inside and nice outside area which is now covered with a large canopy.
First meal out post the easing of lockdown restrictions and this was just the job - friendly service, good food and a relaxing experience following the required guidelines
On their first night open since lockdown, we were delighted to be back at the Queen's Arms, despite the lack of buzz that goes with social distancing. We all very much enjoyed the dishes we ordered and the portion size was much improved on last Summer/Autumn, when the prices had risen but servings and shrunk. It was strange being served by waiters with masks but that's what's required at this time and we will definitely be going back again, particularly when the weather is good and we can sit out in the garden.
One of the best Sunday roast ever! Service was attentive and atmosphere was everything you want from a country pub on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely atmosphere, staff were very attentive. However, my husband was not very pleased with the size of his meal. The quality was superb but quantity we felt was alittle smaller than a usual portion ? Not enough for a grown man.
A really good evening! We ate in the bar next to the fire ... great ambience. Simple, interesting menu - that tasted delicious. Two of the group were vegetarians and loved their 'parcels' on different fresh green vegetables. I had a fabulous dish of cod and mussels in cream sauce with Samphire, and my husband loved his steak with blue vinney sauce ... and we all loved his chips! Puds were fine. Attentive and personal service, great beers and wine ... and that fire ... made for a great evening on a wet and cold night.
Consistently good - Sunday lunch came with a tasty selection of seasonal vegetables. Both the beef and pork were good, although the beef was a little overdone for personal taste. This is a favourite weekend staple. Bring back the eggs royale and eggs benedict for Saturday brunch!
Birthday lunch for 8. Service very good and attentive. Food very good, be nice to see more vegetarian options on the menu. Great range of beers and gins.
Good food and good service
Lovely warm and friendly welcome. Great, relaxed atmosphere with a laid-back feel. Food is good and beautifully presented, but is on the pricey side.
