The Queens Inn
A stylish pub, restaurant and hotel with a wood-burning fireplace, as well as a beer garden, a deep history of smugglers and a Georgian ballroom.
Fresh, locally sourced ingredients are combined, expertly cooked and served in our stylish, yet welcoming surroundings. Our meals are our pride and joy. We have a passion for creating a complete dining experience. We take the time to prepare our food from wholesome produce for our guests - no fast food, no corner cutting and are confident you’ll find it well worth waiting for.
Our menus show flair and imagination; never sacrificing taste and satisfaction. Our chef is committed to supporting local businesses and produce: Moon’s Green, Wealden Smokery, Park Farm butchers, Maws Fine Foods-Hawkhurst, Bodiam ice-cream to name but a few.
Six of us had Saturday lunch here, excellent food, good staff. Really enjoyed ourselves.
Our roast belly pork was lovely as were most of the vegetables, but the cauliflower was very ‘al dente’ and the Yorkshire pudding was cold. Wine was good and reasonably priced. The young lady serving us was excellent, friendly and helpful, and ensured that my food was gluten- free as requested.
Lovely tasty lunch in relaxed atmosphere with attentive but not over bearing staff. The halloumi salad was delicious as was the Malteser cheesecake - particularly the chocolate sorbet that accompanied it. Would recommend.
Very nice food, good service, will go back to try other restaurant.
One of my favourite places to eat. Food and service are always excellent. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere
Both quality of food and service were very good and provided excellent value. Restaurant was a little quiet on a Tuesday evening and lacked a little buzz but that didn’t detract too much from what was a surprisingly good experience. Breakfast was also very good.
Great food, comfortable seating. Good service from friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
Amazing! My new fav pub want to go again this Sunday
I have yet to have a bad experience at The Queen's Inn - they just never disappoint. Always a warm welcome, good ambience, excellent service and a fabulous menu - choices to suit everyone. My friend and I shared the Japanese Tuna and the Teriyaki Salmon dishes and both were absolutely delicious. We will be back! Thank you.
A small restaurant with about eight tables. The Main course provided large helpings of good plain food well cooked and the Apricot pudding compared favourably in presentation and flavour to what one might expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. For a local restaurant this was a great find!
first visit here. very impressed with the sunday roast.
It was a meal for my sisters birthday. Lovely food, very good service. Would definitely go again.
Lovely family dinner ( we also stayed at the hotel ) - great service and nice menu - thoroughly recommend.
Traditional pub restaurant with plenty of light and good furnishings. Great service and an excellent goats cheese salad with roasted vegetables.
Lovely gastropub. It was quiet when we went for Monday lunch. The food was good, service very nice and friendly and would definitely go back if in the area again.
Superb Sunday roast, possibly the best I’ve ever eaten out! Beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The staff were delightful, and the overall experience was one I will be repeating!
Lovely food, friendly staff, would highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back for Sunday lunch!
Lovely (vegetarian) Sunday roast for me, other had Roast beef and fish and chips. All very pleased with our food. Very good, efficient service despite being a bust Fathers Day.
Lovely roast dinner, good portion and value. Attentive service.
Great food and great setting. Friendly staff. Will be back
An excellent first visit, but will not be the last. Sunday lunch was excellent and the staff brilliant. Good luck to you all.
Service was very good. Waiting staff (Julio in particular) was very much on the ball. Food was disappointing in so much as quality of dishes vs price. Would have expected the food to be a notch or 2 up from that which was served given the charge per plate. Starters were very small. £10 for 3 scallops not much bugger than a 10p coin. Mains were served warm. No selection of fresh vegetables to accompany the mains. Desserts left a lot to be desired in so much as the Cherry bakewell cheese cake had no taste of almonds with a few spots of cherry compote. Custard tart was very heavy and stodgy and was served broken. Shame really. Good selection of wine and local ales. All the staff were polite and courteous. Ambience was very good. We went for our anniversary and they were kind enough to serve up a small surprise at no extra charge, which was a nice touch. I just think the chef needs to up his/her game or give better value.
Pleasant gastro pub type atmosphere with good solid food and attentive service. Recommended for relaxed weekend lunches.
We stayed for one night at the Bell and had our evening meal and breakfast there. The service was excellent with very friendly and professional staff. The food was absolutely amazing. A good selection on the menu, all cooked beautifully and presented well without being over fussy and fancy.
Not quite what was expected menu wise but generally ok
The decor inside the pub is lovely, very homely. Food is excellent albeit a little on the pricey side. Service was good, friendly staff. Definitely worth another visit.
My husband and I are new to Hawkhurst and we invited some friends over for a meal.
The Queens Inn was excellent.
Food was lovely, service was very good and our guests said we’d made an excellent choice.
We’ll definitely be visiting again 👍🏻
Great atmosphere, great service, great food. What more would you want? Well done Queen's Inn - you're doing everything right :)
Excellent restaurant, comfortable, intermate, excellent service and high quality food, very good value overall
Good breakfast, though the choice for no. Residents a little limited.
We stayed for our wedding anniversary. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The room and the food were fabulous. We had complimentary dessert and champagne which was a lovely thought. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
Great food and great sevice. Interesting menu and god's value wine list.
Overall a pleasant evening to celebrate our anniversary. If I had realised the dining tables were around the bar I would probably have booked somewhere with a proper dining room but as we were at far end and the dining room area not busy it was OK.
Several children in the eating area but not noise level OK.
Quality of food was very good and using local products and supporting humanely slaughtered meat is a positive in my book.
Size of portions was rather small for me and the pork belly was chewing rind rather than crisp so a bit disappointing. However the associated ham shank that was two small minces cylinder of ham shank was very tasty and the meat of the pork belly very well cooked.
I chose to have a beer (Doombar) which was out of stock and the replacement was not as enjoyable but I guess all bars can run out of a product.
Olives , cheese and bread was good, main course tasty but rather samm, desert (Praline) lacked enough praline but otherwise quite OK, Tea was good strength and well presented.
Expensive for what we had but in a better restaurant environment would have been fine.
Lovely 1 night away from the kids.
Celebrating our anniversary which was kindly remembered by the restaurant.
Lovely room.. nice people... amazing food
The setting is wonderful and the "Kitchen" part of the pub is fantastic. Just on this occasion, the Sunday Roast dinner was "meh" and the seating lacking a bit of ambience. I've been before and will certainly try again.
A lovely setting and welcome but food not as good as it used to be? In December the mulled wine was horribly sweet and not mulled wine as we knew it! We wondered if there was a different chef from the last time we came about 2 years ago. No fish cakes that we had loved them! It would be good to have a cheaper 2 /3 course option.
A wide choice of some delicious sounding courses.
Prices were a little above what I expected for the starters and desserts but well worth the extra.
Each course came up in a reasonable time but the main course plates took a little bit too long to be cleared away once finished.
We were asked by staff during each course if everything was ok,which it was,and also if more drinks were wanted. The servers were happy enough, helpful and polite.
I would recommend the food and the actual restaurant as well as the overall ambience was nice and cosy.
Lovely pub in Hawkhurst, friendly both with locals and visitors. Sunday roast was delicious and the staff very attentive and friendly. Would definitely re-visit for a drink, snack or dinner.
Wonderful food, wonderful service! Definitely will be returning in the near future!
I've been to the Queens Inn several times since it opened five or so years ago. It's a nice space and the service is friendly. Food is a little ho-hum gastropub fare - all well done just not particularly exciting.
