The Ragged Cot
Having stood proudly since the 17th Century, the coaching house has an intriguing past filled with highwaymen and pilferage. Good service and good food made for a very enjoyable lunch even though it was a little cold to be eating outside.
Went on May Bank Holiday. Despite the absolutely horrendous weather we had a great time. The service was brilliant and the food was also very nice! Thanks for still being so hospitable and friendly despite the cold and wind and rain!
Excellent service and food in difficult circumstances. Only [small] gripe was blue re: steak came out medium rare, but was still lovely!
The food was OK but not outstanding for the price, however the really awful aspect of our dining experience was the disgusting smell from the sewers that kept wafting across from the drains in the garden. I spoke to friends about this afterwards and it appears its not unusual.
A mixture of families eating and groups going for it on the £25 all you can drink in 2 hours. Not for me , went for a family meal but really an odd place. I went a few years ago and really enjoyed it , yes it was outside this time but I wouldn’t go back I’m afraid.
Not easy to create a good dining experience with open doors on a cold day but the Ragged Cot did its best to achieve a pleasant time during the reopening in tricky times. All in all a good lunch.
As usual we received a warm welcome from the staff. Food was delicious and delivered to the table in a timely manner.
Overall we had a brilliant Sunday lunch, it's about 75 miles away from home so quite a long way to get something to eat but the reviews were all good and as we were visting Stroud it wasn't far to drive up to the pub. We sat outside due to Covid on a beautiful sunny day, the beef was melt in the mouth and the accompaniments were all very tasty and perfectly cooked. The only downside on the day we visited was there had been some kind of power cut so the restaurant was trying to help out other nearby places which meant the service was not as attentive as it could have been and lunch was a little drawn out, but apart from that it was one of the best Sunday lunches we've had :)
Such a nice location but lacked engagement and feeling from staff, food average and we were disappointed the Bottomless Prosseco lunch price of £24.99 didn't include any food- this made it very expensive. Sorry, we won't be rushing back. Lacked ambiance and expensive for what it was!
A delicious brunch in the sun, a delightful setting and very good food
Great covid precautions in place but they could invest in more outdoor heaters!
Food was good just had to wait a long time for salt and pepper this should be brought out before Food as your eating outside.
I'd eaten my food before salt and pepper arrived.
Currently service is too slow and they appear under-staffed. Far too slow to take orders and provide the bill.
Sadly I also found 2 hairs in my food.
Lovely venue, with friendly attentive staff. Enjoyed the experience very much.
Thank you to the team.
Lovely alfresco dining in covid restrictions. Really nice relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for an evening meal and drink.
Great service, lovely food, lovely place. We were very fortunate that the weather was beautiful, so it was a perfect lunch.
The food was fabulous, but I do wish that non-alcohol drinkers were offered more than just Becks Blue, which is arguably the most boring non-alcoholic beer, when there are so many really good non-alcoholic beers available.
Lovely food. Great service. Nice garden tables well spaced out.
A lovely meal in a great setting. Staff were efficient and friendly, food was very tasty.
Great food great service
Staff were courteous and efficient. Good menu and wine list. Nice surroundings.
Lovely area with spaced outdoor seating, food was really good (in particular the burger) however it was very expensive
Would still definitely recommend!
Great outdoors area in fine weather for drinks. Lamb roast and gravy wasnt as generous as some reviews led to believe
Got shown to a table that we booked , only about 5 other tables taken which most were already eating.
Sat for half an hour even before we were asked if we wanted a drink in which time they’d been reserving other tables.
Other guests came sat down behind half an hour after us and were served with drinks straight away at this point we got up and told them we wouldn’t be drinking or eating here and left, at this point our drinks had still not been bought out.
Service wasn’t poor it was abysmal
Lovely outdoor setting. Food was lovely although could do with a bit more I.e chips.
We had a lovely meal. Great service. We will definitely visit again. The food was nice and fresh. Very colourful. Thank you for our first lock down meal out
Great meal, lovely outdoor area
Went for brunch. Sat at a lovely sunny table, great atmosphere, however sadly the food was poor. Poached eggs overcooked and not runny, fried eggs the same. Bread was dry, avo had no taste. Waiting staff were busy but could have been friendlier/checked on us. We weren't offered any sauces, had to ask for salt and pepper. A shame as the setting was perfect.
Have eaten here before lockdown and has gone down hill : (
This was our first eating out experience since lockdown and it was lovely. Choice of beers was minimal but that was due to delivery issues and I’m sure they usually have a wider range.
Social distancing was very good and both of the waiting staff were efficient, friendly and congenial.
First meal out in months and it was fabulous - service excellent as was the food - overall superb experience
Very disappointed with the food and poor value for money
The service was good
Sitting up on the lawn you get a very nasty smell from the drain ( sewer)
Lovely location and lots of outside space. Menu was good and so was the food. Cost is slightly high, but quality good.
Beautiful gardens with an awning and patio heaters. Delicious food and excellent friendly service.
Great ! A welcome return . Good menu and fantastic service
Very little appears to have been done to make eating outside comfortable. Service was lamentable at best (waiting 15 mins even to be served drinks after we sat down at the table), and overall I was distinctly underwhelmed.
Afraid I shall not be returning any time soon.
Tasty food but not as advertised. Seafood Linguine was some prawns with spaghetti for £17.00!! Great service, shame that corners were cut.
Duck was overcooked and soggy skin
Steak was cooked nicely though
We enjoyed our food and the service was good. We would go back again.
We had and early breakfast here on Christmas Eve and were the only customers in the place. The food was good and the service attentive and friendly. Just what you want. The location is perfect.
Lacking in atmosphere as very few people in restaurant.
Good vegan choices ( although need more pudding options please ) lovely setting , friendly staff & excellent service
