The Rainforest Cafe London
Burger patty, lettuce, tomato, pickle, cheese, onion ring
Beef Lava Nachos
Ground beef, peppers, onions, black beans, cheddar cheese, green onions, sour cream, pico de gallo, chipotle salsa
Battered white fish, coleslaw, tartar sauce and Safari fries
We went here on the hop after visiting london for a few days. The waitress brought out the wrong food then tried claiming that’s what I ordered and if she’d have heard what I’d said she would have told me it wasn’t in stock. After this she gave me attitude and I asked her if there was any need for it and she gave me more attitude. We’ve been to the rainforest cafe in other locations and have always enjoyed. The food here was very mediocre and the service was awful. The best part was they had a cheek to charge a service charge! Laughable. 2/10 for our experience. £100 down and highly disappointed.
Please read to save yourself a poor evening and a waste of money. I don’t often write or read reviews, however, I did on this occasion and chose to ignore them - what a mistake. My first experience of The Rainforest Cafe was in Vegas and although I was fully prepared for it to be a predominantly family environment with food secondary and not as spectacular as Vegas, I did not expect the food and service to be as diabolical.
- We arrived on time to be seated at a dry bar (no bar service) whilst we waiting for our table to be cleaned.
- We were seated in a segregated room, away from the rest of the novelty interior, opposite the open kitchen door looking at a Pepsi machine, we asked to move tables.
- Our waitress had absolutely no knowledge of alcohol so she showed us her iPad where we had to select which drink we wanted
- They had no Coconut Shrimp
- The “Awesome Appetiser” can only be the “chef’s” ironic joke. The plate looked like it had been dropped on the way out of the kitchen, was cold and included one chicken strip to share between two
- We were given one napkin between two
- The Rainforest burger came with no onion rings as described so was sent back
- The “safari” fries had no seasoning whatsoever, not even salt.
- We weren’t asked if we would like any sauces I.e mayonnaise, how our food was or if we would like another drink.
It was a frosty departure after a 12.5% service charge was added to the bill for what I believe is the worst food and service I have ever experienced.
Please do yourself and your partner/family a favour and avoid this overpriced tourist trap!
Worst meal I have ever had to pay for. Truly awful
We visited yesterday and it was awful. We visited due to a great experience in USA Disney, this is not comparable. Staff all looked deflated and it then took 35min to order or drinks only after asking a number of times if we could. Food came quickly but was that nice, really overpriced for what we got. Tables were left dirty for a long time and a lot of people were complaining.
Was super excited about visiting here with my 3 year old son, but unfortunately it was a real let down for us. Rude, grumpy staff, loud inappropriate music and way too over priced. Won’t be visiting again, most definitely over rated.
The service was very slow, waiting so long for our first drink…. In fact any drink we ordered too forever! The food was not very nice at all, very dry burgers, awful mash. I just really felt for the price the food was terrible!
it wasn’t very clean , the food was expensive for what you get!
The food was alright and when we actually got served it was ok too, although it did take a long time for someone to come see us despite the restaurant being empty. The music and noises were so loud you couldn.t have a proper chat. The worst part were the state of the toilets. Out of 6 cabinets only one was clean and had toilet paper. Would not go back!
We weren’t expecting much by way of food so were therefore not particularly disappointed, it’s expensive burgers. This would be fine if the surroundings were good but sadly, it’s very tired and dated and my young children weren’t impressed at all. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy but we were surrounded by dirty tables which hadn’t been cleared, this doesn’t make for a great dining experience. Won’t be returning and wish we’d gone elsewhere.
Headline : Abysmal
Even my 8 year old who loves this sort of thing suggested we go over the road to McDonalds as even she’d had enough
Booked a table for 2 of us and my wife wanted to come along, but no room. Seated at a table for 6 !!
Slow, tired, tatty with nonchalant service, poor quality expensive food.
Am sure management are equally as nonchalant given the steady stream of gullible tourists.
Don’t waste your time and money !
Visited as a special treat for our 6 year old daughter. Food: tasteless, small portions and very very expensive. Service very slow and not particularly friendly. Please avoid ! Total rip off
We had quite a good time but I wouldn’t rush back. The foliage and animals are really fun but for young children (ours are aged two and five) I would’ve preferred animal noises rather than fairly noisy pop music. All of the staff were super friendly but I think the service could’ve been better organised. The food was typical pub fare, perfectly satisfactory but not particularly tasty.
Great atmosphere shame we had to wait over 40 minutes for just our drinks overall good 👍
It was a birthday surprise for my 27 year old daughter. She used to have her birthday parties there as a child, but we haven’t been back in 19 years, so it was a lovely surprise for her. Our waitress Molly was so lovely and super efficient. We loved the whole experience and it brought back such lovely memories.
I am so sad to say but we were quite disappointed with the rain forest cafe. It was nothing like I remember when I visited them in the states on holiday years back. I'd never been to the London one and we brought my daughter for her 3rd birthday. She loved the theme and the animals etc but overall my husband and I thought it was pretty poor. It all looked really tired and run down, the seats and tables were all wonky and needed moving and shuffling or tissue put under the legs. The food seemed like it had come out the microwave and we overheard another table saying the same thing. Some of the moving animals looked broken in places and like they needing fixing and repainting etc. The toilets were pretty grim the whole place just needs alot of cleaning up to be honest, re-painting and fixing up. And the food needs A LOT of improvement. Our waitress was lovely (sweet friendly purple hair young lady with a some funky tats on her fore arms) but everything else was just not good. The whole place seems very run down. I was really hoping to love it and was so excited to bring my husband and my daughter there for the first time but it just did not live up to expectations at all I'm sorry.
Thanks and best wishes
Definitely be coming back at some point food was amazing and the staff were brilliant very happy people the atmosphere in there was also amazing my little girl loved every minuet of it …… definitely recommend to others superb experience
The overall experience would have been better if there was better service and possibly not a service charge for what you don’t actually receive. After paying £70 for two steaks and 2 drinks along with the service charge I thought this was a little over priced. It took 15 minutes to be asked what to order and my whole experience was 45 minutes.
I believe the steak was cooked how I asked, however the mash, would have been better off having Asda prices own version of microwave mash as this is what it felt like within the mouth and was impossible to squish which meant I had to chew. The best part was possibly the 6 green beans gotten with it.
The atmosphere and ambience was mesmerising to look at but was ruined by the service!
Nice cafe, nicely decorated, amazing for kids and their special occasions. Staff was good, friendly & helpful. Maybe too slow, as waiting time for menu was quite long. Should pay attention to cutlery given to customers (ours wasn’t clean, and this just annoys me badly). And last thing-food-well overpriced, would recommend to update menu as its quite basic and nothing very great to choose.
Really fun theme for children but looking a bit tired now, time for a re-vamp? Vinyl cover tables all felt a little tacky. Food was very underwhelming and over priced! I had the Ribs which had hardly seen any bbq sauce at all, should’ve come with bbq sauce in side but had ketchup instead. Mozzarella sticks starter sat on top of ?? Looked like dried nail clippings? Think it was deep fried onions but not sure… didn’t eat these. Drinks in plastic cups. Toilets need a good clean and refurb too. Not worth £75 for single course, sides and soft drinks fir Two of us!!!
Do not eat here!! My experience at the Rainforest Cafe was a complete and utter disappointment. After visiting several others in the US which are incredibly ran I was SHOCKED by the sheer painful experience this was. From the shocking, off-theme pop music which completely ruined the experience, to the lack of atmosphere, ‘kids party’ feel, we felt uncomfortable the whole time and couldn’t wait to leave. The food was cold, dry and somewhat inedible not to mention the extortionate price tag!?! It appeared the waitress was preoccupied (despite it being very quiet), not welcoming or attending to any needs at all. The cocktails were small, overpriced and had little to no alcohol. Finally the toilets were absolutely appalling, no toilet wasn’t blocked, dirty and undated. In short I may as well have thrown £60 in the street and would never return to that restaurant. Hands down the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had.
The place is outstanding by decor, amazing and loved by children.
Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Three star for service are given due to all people packed next to each other in small space, in time of pandemic while the 3/4 of the restaurant are completely empty. No social distance allowed between seated tables.
Poor food. Like microwave meal. No lift so had to carry pram down stairs, considering it’s a child’s restaurant that’s poor. Baby changing facility is poor. Waitress was not interested in us at all. We left loads of our food and she didn’t think to ask if there was an issue.
Only good thing is my 1 year old liked the surroundings.
£70 for two mains and a child’s dinner. An two soft drinks. A glass of Diet Coke £4.50
It was OK. I had wanted to take our toddler here for months, we saved it for my birthday so we could take him somewhere he would enjoy. In it’s day it would have been fantastic, but you just get that sense that nothing has been updated for at least two decades. But our toddler enjoyed it, the food was ok (just nowhere near as good as other places nearby) and the waitress was sweet and did try really hard even though she was way too overworked!
Location and decoration was great but service was slow and poor. Actually see people leave as we’re waiting to be served. The place was not busy. Food was similar to what you would get in harvester but not sane price - over £100 for mum dad and 4 year old
Beautiful restaurant but the staff aren’t the best the main lady that was serving us was good but very hard to get her attention and the other staff didn’t even bother with us. We asked at the start to be moved to another table which they didn’t do although there were many empty tables. When it came to ordering there were a few things on the menu unavailable which was quite annoying. Food was okay nothing special especially for the amount of money it costs. Mainly disappointed at the fact that my booking asked me what the reason for booking was and I booked for an anniversary and this was not acknowledged at all during any part of the visit
Very bad service and the food was the worst. I had to wait for more than 20 minutes for my order to be taken!
Dirty restaurant, Awful food !!! Incredibly slow service.
We left before our desert arrived as we were waiting over 35 mins after ordering
Dusty wall and ceiling decor dirty floors
Food was mediocre at best stale bread felt like microwaved up food
Waitress forgot anything I asked for And no where near enough staff on duty
Over £100 for three main meals two adults one child no alcoholic drinks ordered one coke ape
Juice and table water
Ok so nobody to welcome us, until a member of staff said what please and then disappeared with his cup of coffee. Server eventually helped us out who was lovely and made us feel very welcome. Food arrived quickly was hot but was not worth the price. Experience overall was ok but nothing like the one in Florida. When asked for a volcano dessert it was placed on the table with no theatre or fun. Wasn't very busy and £110 for 2 of us was a tad heavy. Felt like it lacked leadership. Plus the music didn't fit the style either with modern music rather than styled to fit.
Overall 4/10 only saving grace was the lovely young girl.
The restaurant is very nice, lovely decor and great for kids. However the food needs a lot of improvement. The burger I had was so gristly I was unable to eat it, the Chips were soggy. I have visited the rainforest in Florida where the food is amazing, so very disappointing!
The atmosphere was nice and my daughter enjoyed it. The service was fine. However the food was disappointing. The adults meals were just ok and the kids meal was not nice, the chicken was dry and the chips stale.
Dark, noisy and average food. Service was not great.
the experience was as follows:
- Doors did not open until 12:10pm and our reservation was for 12pm
- no sign posted lift
- we were seated and my daughter was given coloured pencils with her menu
- the QR code didn’t work in order to access the menus
- got given a menu for food but not drink
- had to flag down a member of staff for the third time to ask for a drinks menu
- when we ordered there were no smoothies & milkshakes available
- our order wasn’t taken until 12:25
- our food arrived and the pasta was over cooked and very unpleasant. The spicy chicken wings were dry and devoid of sauce. the blue cheese dip was very low quality and unpleasant
- nobody came to check that our food was ok
-had to again flag down a member of staff to send back pasta and asked for chicken nuggets instead
-we got the chicken bites at 12:58
-then when I wanted to leave I tried to pay at the host station as no waiting staff were around and she said “no” and that I had to go back to my table.
- then I realised I’d misplaced my sunglasses and when I asked the same member of staff if she could check my table she checked the wrong table and said there was nothing they could do. Could they not have taken my number in case they got handed in? A lost property system perhaps?
Overall my daughter enjoyed herself as she is 2 and liked the animals an decor. The staff were nice but really unhelpful and the service was incredibly poor. I would describe this experience as appalling to be honest, and would never recommend it based on today.
The food was mediocre whilst the price was high range! Our waitress was lovely whilst other staff were so rude! My husband received the wrong meal, the waiter that came over snatched it off my husband huffed and stormed off, no apology! The wait time was really long as well.
looking tired and food looked like it had been kept warm to long: reheated?
Ordered our drinks, but took 30 minutes to arrived (the restaurant wasn’t busy) then when we finally got the drinks they were wrong! Food was okay but not great and not worth the money
Good atmosphere, food was ok. Not the greatest but very very polite staff and helpful
Great place to take young kids. Great experian e for them they will love it.
iT WAS A GREAT PLACE TO EAT. THE FOOD WAS NICE, THERE WAS A VARIETY OF CHOICE AND THE CHILDREN'S MENU WAS GOOD. THE PLACE FELT JUST LIKE BEING IN THE RAIN FOREST.
It was supposed to be a great experience for my daughter - and it was. But, I don’t know if it is Covid related or not, but it felt like they were short staffed (everyone was really kind and everything, but, when they were running thought the restaurant, you could see the tension in their eyes). The women’s restroom was disgusting, things are broken, the toilets weren’t working.
Have been here before some time ago. Accepting the difficulties with covid I was really disappointed with the experience. I brought my granddaughter. The cup you could take home was not a a availability. Cocktails came in a boring water glass. No milkshakes and they ran out of lemonade. Service was appalling. We asked for cutlery which didn’t arrive and no salt or pepper offered for our food and no offer of Mayo or any other condiments. I would not waste my money again
