With a FOC reservation, we were allocated the sofa area, with additional tables and chairs. A very nice place. Food was okay: main course was only decent, but the dessert was very good. Service was adequate: polite, efficient, but not particularly friendly. Facilities were all good. Would recommend to anyone.

Lovely location rather spoilt by terrible food service, meals came out haphazardly over ~40mins. Food was nothing special.

It was busy at the bar and we had to wait a very long time to get a drink. They had run out of basic food such as sausage and mash, pulled pork for loaded fries. The sharing platters were very good though. Overall the place seemed chaotic, whether that was down to insufficient staffing or too many bookings.

Overpriced and very small portions ! I had the Chicken Supreme (£23) which was two very small pieces of chicken on the bone (not even a whole breast) two small potatoes sliced and overcooked plus four tiny heads of tenderstem broccoli all with a sauce that must have been no more than two spoonfuls .. this dish was very very salty ! Three of my friends had the Seabass with parmentier potatoes and in a Romanesco sauce (£21) …. One very thin small piece of fish, one small potato cut into tiny squares which were like croutons .. hard and rubbery.. no veg except for a sprig of watercress £21 !! Would not recommend this place to anyone service was slow .. we even had to ask for the table to be cleared after 30 mins ! We then had to also ask for the dessert menu .. we didn’t have any ! Our bill was nearly £180 … even the drinks were expensive more than £9 for a large glass of wine and £0.80 charged for a dash of soda water in it. Certainly not impressed with the quality, service and prices and won’t be going back !

Nice meal, great choice of beer and excellent service but overall seemed a bit pricey for what it was. But will definitely be back.

Very accommodating and great service. Food good and after a last minute booking it was a positive experience. Weather and view across the river made it all the more special for Mother’s Day. Thank you all.

The £10.50 Pasta and Wine offer at The Red Lion, Bishopgate, is outstanding value. The pasta was well-cooked and flavourful, and the accompanying glass of wine complemented the meal perfectly. Service was prompt and efficient, making for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Given the quality of the food and drink at this price, it’s hard to fault. A fantastic deal in a lovely setting—highly recommended!
