Great roast and lovely setting
Lovely chilled place, with good views of the river
Saturday evening catch up with a friend visiting from Hong Kong. Sat in the conservatory: very light and airy with views of the river. Excellent service throughout the evening. Excellent food too: roast cod and duo of duck. Highly recommend this place.
We’re running late & got a phone call to confirm we were coming 🙂
We were impressed by the quality and presentation of the food,
Lovely location near the river & old bridge, we have already recommended to there, and would return.👍👍👍
Lovely setting and good food. Service wasn't great -They lost our drink order so food arrived with no drinks! Had to chase about 3 times. Hopefully just an off-day as the setting is really lovely and I'd definitely go back.
Booked lunch at The Red Lion after reading the menus online.
I’m veggie and the other menus along the river don’t really cater for vegetarians much.
We went Paddleboarding and the had a fish platter and the Super food salad as I really craved an AMA zing Salad. 5 stars for creating some tasty food for vegetarians to eat. My friend loved her fish platter too 🥗🦀🍟
Lovely setting by the river just what you need on a sunny day. The food was good and the drinks were good. The only small negative was the service is slow but that could be a positive as you don’t drink so much
A big thanks to our waitress she was extremely good. I didn’t get her name, but she had just had her jab.
She is an asset to the pub.
Though very busy the staff were unfailingly efficient and kind
Family of 4 get together. Great table on the terrace overlooking the river and the medieval Bishopgate bridge. Slightly peeved to have to wear a mask after so-called Freedom Day while walking through restaurant (we’re all double jabbed). Also, quite annoying to have to pay as you go. At one point we had to get out a bank card to pay £3.50 for a side salad. Waitress was difficult to understand beneath mask. However, despite that we had a wonderful evening and the espresso martinis were superb. Food was a bit underwhelming. No wow factor. Would definitely go back.
Lovely pub great service , great music , but the food was dreadful. Fish Finger Burger sounded great , but was a grey piece of fish (?) in horrible greasy batter. Shame .
We had the fish platter and it was fantastic. Lovely food, excellent service. Lost stars for sitting us at an outdoor table with no umbrella, on a hot day. Even though I’d booked ahead of time. The manager did fix it quickly by sitting us at the front instead of the back of the pub. Buy another umbrella, maybe? Then it would be perfect. Will definitely visit again.
Excellent service, delicious food and wonderful riverside location. We sat outside by the river and it was perfect. One of our party was in a wheelchair and the waitress was very considerate and got a ramp for us. Also the Red Lion is very dog friendly and provided a water bowl for our dog.
Pre comedy food and drinks. A warm welcome as always and we were soon able to move to an outside table to take advantage of the good weather. Initial drinks service was fine however once we'd sat outside it became (putting it kindly) somewhat chaotic. I sensed lots of new staff who, whilst faultless in terms of their friendliness and keenness, hadn't quite got up to speed with the actual serving. This said, I love this place. The setting is great and the team have done a great job at smartening up a tired old boozer. Once the service is ironed out it'll be almost perfect.
slow getting drinks, staff need to be on the ball as soon as you see an empty glass get in there also offer drinks when we get seated we would have had at least two more drinks ( more profit )
Nice location, foods not amazing for prices, lots of room for improvement.staff look anxious.mainly young girls serving.many places in Norwich much better.worth a visit, but I would not be tempted to rush back again...
We were recommended the red lion and have been twice since. Service is very good, efficient, quick, friendly, informative. Food is great especially Sunday lunch. Sitting outside is just lovely. River location and relaxing
Second visit, excellent all round, service very good, great food. 👍😊
Lovely staff members, cheerful and helpful. Great food for a great price. Thanks guys. X
Really great Brunch!Good choices on an excellent menu , catering for all my families different requirements , vegan, lactose intolerance and two fussy grandchildren. Very good and helpful staff. Would recommend and already have to friends and family.
For all those who mourned the loss of the Red Lion, Bishopgate, rest assured, it is back. You walk in the door and immediately can see that, although it has been re-vamped, this is not an anonymous gastro pub makeover, it is in fact the RedLion, born again!
It has been very sensitively renovated.
Congratulations to all involved!
Outside table for 4 today Saturday, we asked if we could have an umbrella table and were asked to choose which one would we want, no issue whatsoever. The service was top class, any issue handled speedily, regular genuine checks on our food and checking on enjoyment. We could not be more impressed, most certainly recommend this pub for the food, the drink range the staff and most certainly the genuine service - Thank you to the whole team.
Excellent setting on the river. Perfect for an evening drink and meal. Cheers
Great afternoon sat in the sun watching the world go by, what more could you ask for
Lovely food, lovely staff and lovely setting. We will definitely be going again,
Great service, waitresses very attentive, had lovely table outside, food served very quickly, was my first visit, would go again
Unfortunately the duck was tough on the day we went, but the rest of the food was excellent. This was mentioned to the staff.
Great to go somewhere that wanted your custom
Felt welcomed from start to finish
Busy , which was great and the staff looked after us well
Food was lovely freshly cooked and full of flavour.
we had the Sharing g boards
Just enough for us
Good selection of local Gins and craft beer nice to see them supporting our local economy
Really disappointed with our meal this evening. The beef and fish finger burgers was unexceptional in taste and poor value for money. The fish was miniscule in the fish finger burger. Not what we expect from this group of pubs.
Menu seemed a bit limited .thought there would be snacks ,sandwiches, paninis , etc on it for a light lunch .
Lovely place for brunch and a good selection of quality food. The young lady who served us was very friendly and efficient.
A lovely pub and the waiting staff were so sweet and friendly The food was genuinely amazing, though the cost seemed a bit steep for the portion sizes.
We sat outside and though it was a bit cool and blowy by the river, on a sunny day this would be one of the most perfect pub settings.
Good to go back to a pub I have been frequenting for a long time. Looks to be in good hands - table service very friendly & helpful.
Looking forward to the football season.
Lovely location by the river wensum,
Friendly service. Nice atmosphere Food very tasty, Very good portion sizes. Table in conservatory good choice of drinks.
Food served good well presented
Service very haphazard asked for extra gravy for nut roast which very dry but after asking 3 different staff none materialised , they also brought a portion of cauliflower cheese which had not been ordered
Pub very noisy with loud music not sure we will return.
Fantastic food and service in a great setting, what more could you ask for? Will be back soon!
Great all seasons venue. Staff friendly. Sunday roasts were lovely.
Loved it! The staff were great and the food was delicious and I loved the decor. Our new favorite pub in Norwich!
Great pub, we arrived to a very busy pub but was seen to very quickly and taken to our pre booked outside table by the river.
Atmosphere was great and was made to feel welcomed straight away, service was excellent as due to how busy it was expecting to have to wait a while for ordering drinks/food.
However service was extremely quick and food arrived within 20 mins of ordering, I had the Cod dish which was exactly as I hoped, fresh, full of flavour and wouldn’t change a thing.
We were never left for that long when a waitress would be checking we were ok and needed anything.
Returned the following morning for breakfast and once again was great.
Great setting by the river and with views of the cathedral, easy walking distance into the city/tombland with plenty of bars and restaurants.
Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning especially to try the Sunday roast.
