The Red Lion - Chester
Food was amazing and excellent service .One of my favourite pubs to go to for a meal
Good portion size
On a busy Mother’s Day evening the food and value for money was excellent
Quick service , good value food . Usually opt for Sunday lunch . Been going on and off the the red lion since the 70's . Always good to go back .
A good Sunday lunch with family - Great friendly service in a comfortable setting - 2 of the main courses were rather dried out - suspect they had been left under a heat lamp for a while before being brought to the table - but the desserts were excellent - especially the selection plate.
This was a family lunch the day after our anniversary. I had a duck starter. It cost over £6 and I got 4 minute very fatty pieces of duck, together they totalled the size of 2x50p pieces with two sugar cube sized pieces of something tasting of beetroot. Three of our party had prawn cocktail dumped on a plate and all tasting different (surely not right)
Four of us had beef dinners. I had less meat on my plate than anyone else, and 3 of the 4 meat portions were incredibly tough, mine particularly so. We were comped two desserts following my complaint. My chocolate brownie was stale.
Not the best experience I've ever had. I feel that the meal was poor value for money, and the food was substandard. Service was fine
Quite an amateurishly run kitchen , I thought
