Great Sunday lunch. Warm & cosy pub! Parking is a little limited for the amount of tables though

Sadly this was not a good dining experience. Our party of four arrived at 12.30, in good time for what is usually a busy Sunday lunchtime. We shared starters and then waited an hour for our main meals without any apologies for the delay from staff. Eventually when we asked, two of the four meals were cold and had to be sent back. We had to ask to see the Manager, rather than him addressing the issue in good time. They did knock the two meals from the bill, but it wasn’t a good experience. It is very unusual for me to complain, but in this case, there wasn’t an option.

Slow service, missing cutlery, reminder on drinks.

Food very good

Felt a bit tucked away in the corner upstairs, would prefer to have been in bar

The food and drink was good and service was prompt, but unfortunately there were far to many people packed into a small area around the bar, making it very noisy and difficult to have a conversation.
I think it would be fine in the week but I would not recommend on a weekend, especially a Sunday.

I would recommend! However, we were sat right opposite the bar and it was so noisey! The other side in the restaurant area looked a lot quieter!

The servers were friendly and attentive. The food, took a while to get to us, but everything seemed made to order and not heated up. Between us, we had the Scotch Egg to share as a starter, you have to try if that’s something you’d go for.
I had the Steak and Mushroom pie, which was fantastic, great suet pastry, good old fashioned taste, so glad I ordered.
The rest of the party enjoy a ploughman’s platter and the Cod.
What a fantastic, fun and friendly environment.
Wish I had a dog to bring along, as being dog friendly made it even more inviting.
Hope to be back for Sunday Jazz sometime soon.
Thanks to ALL.

A nice pub/restaurant in a lovely country village location. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food is okay. Not spectacular, but enjoyable and good value for money. The internal areas are a little squashed and not entirely comfortable, but it's quite quirky and interesting. For an everyday English country pub lunch it is a decent choice. We will certainly go back from time to time.

Four of us met at the Red Lion for lunch. We waited an hour for our other two guests but staff remained helpful and very pleasant, bringing us a bottle of wine and checking now and then whether we wanted to order.
When we did order they were happy to ask for salad with our fish rather than chips. The fish was moist and the salad excellent.
Our table for six was at one end of the pub, out of the way of traffic and noise and ideal for us.

Very nice pub for food, especially upstairs. The spiral staircase might be a challenge for a disabled person but there is plenty of room downstairs. You need to book well in advance and advise the pub if you have anyone disabled with you.

Very enjoyable experience.

Arranged to meet a friend here for a catch up over Sunday Lunch after hearing some very good things and we were not disappointed. We immediately felt welcome, all the staff were friendly and provided a first class service. The food was very good, tasty and nicely presented. We were sat within the main bar area, it was busy and at times a little bit noisy, however we did not mind this at all, the atmosphere was very congenial and contributed to the comfortable homely feel of the place. Will definitely visit again.

Very good food and gorgeous traditional pub. Meat courses better quality than veggie options unfortunately. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Sadly they were so busy there was a very long wait for food/service and it got a little noisy. Other than this I highly recommend. Prices are perhaps a little too high.

What a gem! How we’d never heard of this pub is astonishing but delighted now we’ve found it. Dog friendly, warm welcome, good well kept beers and great food in a beautiful period building with a sympathetic touch of modernism where it’s needed! Totally recommend the pub.

A great location and pub though the food particularly the lamb was chewy. This was mentioned to the team at the pub. Overall good service but expensive purely based on the lamb.

I have enjoyed this country pub on many occasions, especially on a Wednesday night when me & a few lads are out on our motorbikes. The food & service are second to no other. However, when it gets busy, especially weekends when me & my wife sometimes visit, the service does suffer a little. Otherwise we love it.
