Dinner with friends
Dear Customer, Thank you for your 5 star review. It means a lot to us here at The Refinery and we hope that you will come back to visit us again soon. Kindest, The Refinery Bankside
Nice lively restaurant with a bar, good for after work dining and a light business meeting or super with friends.
Excellent service and Awesome food.
I love this place and find every reason to be here :)
The pan fried salmon was pretty tasty. The grain bowl however was pretty gross.
Dreadful. Arrived to almost empty yet still somehow deafening restaurant. Maitre d was rude sending us to a table. Food all over the floor. We pointed this out and no offer to clean it up. Menus arrive. Staff have no idea about the London Food Festival offer which we’ve come for specifically. Walked out at this point. Shambles. Management needs to be sacked. Junior staff need to be trained
It was fine food for our teenagers and fun for an after work drink. You cannot hold a conversation because it is too loud.
Since this is in my building..
I love to dine here
And I love the food too
We've been to this place 6 or 7 times, and always found the food good, with quite an interesting menu. The wine list is decent. Staff have usually been efficient and pleasant.
This time, some favourites on the menu had been 'tweaked', so that the shredded beef and kimchi now comes in a cheap tasting taco rather than the usual flatbread. Pheasant sausage rolls tasted of very little but fennel seeds - or perhaps fennel!
Unfortunately, I waited for quite some time after my three guests, for the cocktail ordered, for the starter - and then for the main.
The worse part, though, which did spoil our evening, and made us leave earlier than planned, was the constant interruption from staff. Two guests had to hang onto their plates, as over-attentive staff decided to clear them whilst they were still eating. And why on earth would you clear away two plates, whilst the other two people are still eating? This happened during both starter and main.
Our conversations were interrupted constantly, by quite a number of staff. As one gave us the dessert menu, less than 10 seconds' later, another came to take the order. That's what finally made us leave. We won't be back.
My family had a rough trip from the US to London and was glad to have reservations when we arrived to find a good meal and nightlife. Refinery is a great place for after dinner drinks, catching up with friends, but not a quiet family dinner. We didn’t care, we were hungry and our server was amazing. I don’t recall her name but she was from Romania and gave us some great recommendations for our stay.
The food really was fantastic. We had flatbread pizzas, fish & chips, my son had the “Naughty Gnocchi MAC & Cheese” and still talks about it a week later! While I don’t recommend Refinery for family, I highly recommend the restaurant if you’re in the bankside area
Three of us dinned here while visiting London. Loved the rustic, comfy yet classy feel to the place. We enjoyed the charcuterie board and Scotch egg for starters, Mac and Cheese and Curry Chicken for dinner. I wish they’d served a basmati instead of wild rice with the curry but the curry itself was tasty. Apple Crumble and brownie for desert, both excellent. The service and bathrooms could have used some help. Overall, we would go back for a nice dinner out.
The meat from the burgers 🍔 weren’t well done... they were just very burnt 🥵😅🤐... apart from that, the ambience was lovely as always when I go to any D&M restaurant chain, beautiful decor & atmosphere, and super friendly & nice waiter from Venezuela served us tonight. Thank you to all the team at the refinery!! 🥰
Oh and the lamb dish was simply amazing!!
This was a celebration lunch for a friend, so we started with cocktails. The best espresso martini. Two of us had roast chicken- exquisitely cooked. And one, the braised brisket, with slaw and kimchi - the tastiest meal I've had in many months. Staff are very good.
Food was okay. Worst service. It was not busy, and felt neglected. I definitely would not go back
Great carvery on a Sunday and speedy service even with a large group.
We were a party of four. Two of them ordered hamburgers, "rare" and "medium-rare". To our surprise, they both got them "well done". We raised the issue to our waiter and he apologised and asked the kitchen for two new burgers. Since they were taking a long time - the other two of us were already well ahead eating our meals - we took a look at the cook and he was cooking them "well done" again. We then asked for the manager and a lady came to tell us that at The Refinery burgers can only be cooked "well done", and that she was sorry but we should order something else if we didn't like them that way. When asked why the only answer we got repeatedly was that at The Refinery they only cook them "well done" and that was it. When we asked why they didn't tell us when we ordered we just got the same reply over and over again (that they only cook them "well done") offering us to have something else. We ordered chicken instead, with over an hour's delay and very disappointed by such a weird behaviour.
Very good service and food was of a high standard.
Food was okay, but hit or miss. The tacos sounded really nice but the slaw and veggies were still partially frozen. The crab linguine however was lovely!
We went as a group of friends for a Sunday roast. The meal was quite good, but did lack seasoning and the gravy was a bit too thick, but beyond that we couldn’t fault the food, staff or the service. Overall the experience was really enjoyable.
Terrible service. Was quiet but still had to ask for everything including someone to take our order almost an hour after they’d given us menus! Took forever to pay also. And they got our drinks order wrong but instead of apologising the waitress blamed it on bar staff. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone or visit again.
Visited on a Sunday lunchtime with a friend. We sat in a cosy booth slightly away from the main dining area. It was just the right amount of quiet vs music. We ended up staying for hours but the staff left us to it which was nice.
We both had the veggie breakfast which was really delicious. Everything was so fresh and well made (I prefer the breakfast here over their other brunch in Kings Cross).
They serve Asahi beer which is a real bonus for me.
Overall it was a great afternoon and I would definitely come back again to eat/drink, or even treat like a cafe to do some work/reading.
Good food, great service but food was a little cold - had the shared roast and although it was definitely big, had we have shared it between 4 people as recommended it wouldn't have been enough for a hungry bunch. Kids food and service were great.
Maybe it was Open Table's fault but when we arrived, they didn't have our reservation and told me that they had called everyone on the app that had overbooked - but in fact no one had called me.
We had a great experience here!
Food was lovely, setting was beautiful and the service was great!
Will go back for sure!
Excellent vibe and atmosphere with good menu selection albeit basic.
The Refinery wad conveniently located for a bite to eat after a visit to the Tate Modern. Unfortunately it did not have enough staff for the number of tables to be served but the ones who were there did their best to minimise unnecessary waiting. The food and drink were perfectly acceptable although not outstanding.
One of the best meals we had in London!!
Disappointing quality of food, main courses over cooked and rather unappetising.
Lovely meal in a lovely restaurant
The Refinery is a lovely place for a meal! Everything was very tasty, and the service was great! I would highly recommend this restaurant as a great place for dinner!
Nice buzz, good food with a varied menu to suit everyone!
Unbelievable ! We made a reservation on opentable and receive the confirmation email. When we arrived, they told us that he reservation was not confirmed... I don’t know If it was the mistake of the restaurant or open table but anyway, the woman at the entrance was not really nice to us. We saw people ordering food from the bar space and we asked if we could eat there since a lot of table were available and she just say : no, you can’t eat here, just drink. But the two women in front of us were ordering food... so they clearly didn’t want us in the restaurant. Worst experience.
Booked via Open Table, restaurant said they hadn't booked us in. However we got a table 10 minutes later than we had booked for so that was ok. Drinks very expensive, will remember for next time (spirits). Had a nice meal with our friends, enjoyed the night
We came for dinner with friends along with our toddler. We had two courses each and some wine. It was a very pleasant meal and thankfully my son didn't break anything! We even managed to get him to sleep in his pushchair which we could keep near the table thanks to the spacious restaurant.
Lovely meal. Good food and great service. Not at all rushed. Good value for money.
We booked a dinner for 7 people yesterday at 20 and when we arrived the restaurant was closed. Quite dissapointing.
Service was friendly and welcoming. Food not spectacular but as good as expected.
Food was good- not bad- nothing special. The service though was on the bad side. Waitresses were very pushy and kept interrupting our conversation to up sell drinks
This was not a pleasant evening, the bar was heaving and full of thirty somethings, all drunk and way way too loud
I made a reservation for the party of 5 and it didn't seem like they had mine on schedule so we weren't offered a nice welcoming but confusion with staff (I'd say it's not a completely the restaurant's fault and systemic error could occur, and the staff in charge came over to our table to confirm). Then when we finished, we had to wait like an hour for anyone come to us to serve us with the bill which no one did so we called out loud and asked for the bill. After that, even though service charge was included in the chit and my friend even put tips on top of that, few seconds later waitress came back to our table and asked him to put tips on the terminal. That definitely made my friend humiliated and awkward when it was his treat and it made him look like a cheap person. That being said, food and the vibe of the restaurant was delightful.
It was ok. Food pretty good and not over priced. Staff friendly but this location is quiet on a Saturday night so probably a better choice in the week.
