Wonderful cocktails. Wings were amazing. Great service. Will certainly return.
Poor value average food on cold plates won't be returning
Great food, great experience!!!
We had made reservations for upstairs fine dining and they had over booked the restaurant, so they threw us in the bar area with out any explanation. Only when I asked why we were not in the part of the restaurant that we had booked did they explain. Was not where and what we wanted to have for dinner so we left. The best part of the whole evening is that we found a wonderful little French restaurant that took us in without a pre booked reservation.
Enjoyed the night but felt bad for the server who was in charge of the entire area upstairs. Because of this our orders took a long time to be taken. Not the servers fault though seemed to be a lack of staff. Meat was extremely fatty but otherwise food was nice.
Myself and my boyfriend went to the reg on our weekend away to Waterford and we literally loved everything about it. From the amazing food (chicken wings, burger, steak) to the athmosphere and most importantly the amazing service. 10/10.
After a bad experience here we decided to try again, glad we did.
The food was fantastic and the waitress friendly and efficient.
I will recommend
Good food, good service and affordable with good set menu options!
Really nice restaurant and terrace bar.
The staff kindly sang happy birthday to my brother and brought him a little cake. Overall, really good e6and would return.
Our waiter was out of this world a 5 star service. Food was amazing
I didn't book this I never even heard of this someone else did but I've recieved emails saying I did
My husband and I were spending a few days on holiday in Ireland when we decided to visit Waterford. We were lucky enough to find The Reg right on the waterfront by Reginald’s Tower (hence The Reg). The staff were attentive and friendly without being invasive and the food was wonderful. Both of us had my husband’s favorite, Salt & Pepper Squid which was as good as you get. I then had the biggest bowl of fresh local mussels and my husband had fish and chips. Call us greedy but we then succumbed to the desert menu with me having a lemon posset with meringue - well, it would be rude not to - and David having a deconstructed cheesecake. The entire meal was delicious and we were lucky enough to be there on a beautiful summer day with a seat on the Upper Deck of the restaurant overlooking the Tower and the waterfront beyond. Go to this Irish gem, you won’t regret it.
Food uninspiring and no atmosphere. It all seems like a conveyer belt. Reasonable pricing. Location on quay convenient. There are better places in Waterford.
Absolutely lovely. The staff was so friendly, really cool building that it’s in. Only thing is the portions are huge. Maybe the wait staff could mention it or something but we didn’t eat over half the food it was way too much
Food was fab. Very Friendly waiter and chatty.. would like to see tables laid out but better but overall lovely place..
Location is perfect. Diner was good and the prices are okay. Music in the Reg was very good.
Enjoyed the food and ambience at the Reg though the restaurant was closed the evening we were there. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would have liked to see a more extensive menu though this limitation may be due to the restaurant being closed.
Over all 10/10 but due to the fact that there was party in the terrace we had to leave.
Beautiful food. Lovely atmosphere. Will def be back
For the service and ambience I would recommend the reg,but the food was a big disappointment , 6 of us went to celebrate a significant birthday celebration, two of us got a tikka masala, the chicken was tough, the sauce was more of a pasta sauce.there was also orders of macaroni pasta the chicken was also tough and the pasta wasn't macaroni two other meals of which were the mussels and chips and burger with chips these seem to please .three desserts were ordered at table, two brownies that were nice, but my creme brulee was overpowered by a toffee liqueur, which was a pity as the brulee was crunchy and set lovely. The waitress was a nice polite girl.we stayed for drinks some availing of cocktails which were good value.the reg needs to look at their menu and see where there're going wrong as there's potential for it to be better.overall 2.5 out of 5
Everything was amazing, the place is beautiful and the service very nice.
My friend and i had dinner upstairs in the restaurant. We had a choice of the set menu or bar menu. There was a good variety. I ordered the catch of the day with chips . Ann ordered slow cooked rib beef. She described it as really tender melt in your mouth. We both really enjoyed our main course. For dessert we had chocolate and walnut brownie and meringue. The staff in the restaurant and bar were really friendly and helpful. We had cocktails in the restaurant afterward . They were really tasty and great value at 2 for 1 on friday night. The whole night was really enjoyable. I would recommend the reg to anyone.
Great place to eat. Food was fantastic, great service (quickly also), plus a nice and relaxing setting. Top class!!
The food was great except onion rings but I would still recommend and come back! The atmosphere was relax and quiet on a Monday night. Service was friendly
Great experience there. Fast service and lovely staff. The food was fantastic as well and seem to have a lot of local input.
Food was perfect - very impressed and v good value
Food was terrible, only for the waiters friendly service I would write alot worse. Wont be going back.
Visiting from the U.S.A, we celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary at the Reg. The entire staff made us feel very welcomed. The food was phenomenal. Never have we had such amazing sea food chowder! When we come back to Ireland, we will come back to the Reg, for sure!
We dined outside. My Mussels were ok but not great, I asked for a side of veg instead of chips. It was a watery bowl of only corugette. Our friends had the chips which were terrible , small left over burnt bits, which the waiter apologised for but didn't offer anything else. Over all dissapointing.
I had the lemon chicken goujons as a main which were amazing. I had them previously as a starter . My friend also had the lemon chicken goujons as a main. The portion was a decent size and accompanied with chips. I also had the lemon posset which was tasty. My best dessert there so far has been the chocolate and walnut brownie. Two visitors from pennysylvania were also thrilled with the food and said they would eat there again. The cocktails were delicious. My favourite is the strawberry daiquiri. The staff were amazing. They were very friendly and helpful. The service was fast. The dj played a good choice of music . I enjoyed dancing there.
Our server was great. The Seafood Chowder and soda bread was some of the best we’ve had. The salad was just okay. The Seafood platter was not okay. Everything smelled too fishy or tasted bland. I had higher expectations. I’m sure it was just an off day.
I'm afraid the service was poor, the staff were nice but not professional, when we arrived we were left standing for a few minutes with No one telling us if our table was ready or if someone was getting our table ready... when the food came , there was no butter for the bread , we needed salt and pepper for the table and no one asked us was everything all right. The staff were polite but under trained. Unfortunately it was the food that would stop me from ever going back. The crab salad starter was mushy and didn't taste fresh, it looked like it was sitting in a container all day like a tuna sweet corn mix. My hake was really greasy and quite small and besides the potato it only came with 3 or 4 small chunks of veg. It should come with a side of veg. My creme brule had lovely flavour but needed to be set longer. Sorry for bad review, hope it can be constructive critisism.
Great service and wonderful food as always. Many thanks for a great night! The Reg is one of our local bars and the food is outstanding, especially the Seafood options and the cheesecake! :-)
We went to The Reg to celebrate a special occasion and we weren't disappointed! The Reg is one of the rare venues that achieve a level of service that matches the top-class food prepared by a chef who knows his profession inside out! The unpretentious menu combines the very best of Irish and international cuisine to make The Reg a truly cosmopolitan dining experience in the atmospheric and historic setting of Ireland's oldest civic building - Reginald's Tower. Our seafood tasting plate starter served to remind us of just how lucky we are to live within fishing distance of some of the best food our seas have to offer. Eleven out of ten across the board. Well done to all! Waterford can be proud of The Reg!
Recommended by our daughter - we chose roof-top dining and even though it was a little loud - the scenic view of the water and Reginald tower more than made up for it. Great ambiance! The seafood platter and hake dish were so fresh and light at the same time!
This was my first time eating at the reg . I have to say i thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely go there again. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious especially the lemon chicken goujons i had for a starter. My friend really enjoyed the beer battered fish and chips. The bitter chocolate and walnut brownie was divine. The strawberry daiquiris went down a treat. The music there was great too. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The rooftop terrace is great too if youre lucky enough to get a good seat. The view is great.
ate on the roof terrace with a group of work colleagues, fabulous ambience, lovely food and prompt friendly service, highly recommend and cant wait to return
Lunch for 4 people. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. Good variety on the menu. Staff were efficient and friendly and welcoming. Nice ambience. Will go back.
Fun experience on our trip to Waterford. WE each had simple meals - mussels, risotto and burgers - but each diner was pleased. Good selection of wines and fair prices. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. Muzak was a bit loud at our table and she graciously lowered the volume for us.
The food was nice, if overpriced for rather basic pub food. The steak at 24 euro for lunch deserves better service. The service was disjointed and indifferent - we had 3 different girls serving our table and no one seemed to know what was going on. More like trying to get a restaurant meal in a pub - and it wasn't that busy. We had a hard time getting drinks we ordered (even though we were seated next to the bar) and we waited about 15 minutes for the dessert menu. So overall the food was nice, but I wouldn't rush back as the service is very slow and not very friendly - for the price you are paying - you would get much better service in a restaurant.
We had a very enjoyable dinner in the lovely rooftop restaurant. Food , drinks and service were all very good, and we really appreciated the birthday plate they brought out for my husband.
