The terrace was really well set up for outside eating during Covid restrictions. I felt our table was far enough away from other diners and staff were really conscientious when they came into your space to deliver food and cleaned thoroughly between diners. The covered awning, patio heaters and blankets all made it weatherproof too. The extra touch of a decorated cake plate for my friend’s birthday was very thoughtful
Had a lovely lunch at Cowley on a day with very mixed weather. They have clearly spent time and money on erecting a sturdy, but attractive, canopy over the outdoor terrace. There was some torrential rain while we were eating but we were completely protected so remained dry and, with the addition of heaters and blankets, warm too. Although it was busy, the tables were well spaced so we didn't feel too close to the other diners. The view at Cowley is absolutely beautiful - even in the rain - so it was great to be outdoors enjoying it, even with mixed weather. The food was very tasty - I had poached salmon and my friend had fish cake. The portions are never huge but it was enough, with side orders, to feel satisfied. Service was friendly - the only grumble was that it was quite slow (over 40 minutes before our food arrived!). But all in all, a very pleasant return to socialising (safely!)
We ate on the Terrace on a very windy, rainy day - one of our party was a little wet and it was very cold but the experience was still fabulous after so much lockdown.
Always memorable for the right reasons. Good to see English wines and spirits available.
Will definitely pencil in another visit soon.
Nice meal, al fresco due to Covid restrictions. Would have preferred tje food to be a little bit warmer (didn't mention this as was unsure if down to cooking or the fact we were outside so could have taken sometime to get from kitchen). Staff polite & professional.
A lovely experience for my Mums birthday. Great menu choice, lovely setting. Very relaxed, staff very helpful and welcoming. Lovely surprise for the complementary cake and candle at the end of the meal.
Really lovely afternoon tea with delightful view of the garden, sheltered outdoor seating and great service. The food was delicious too
Lovely afternoon tea experience on the terrace in the sunshine. Felt very covid safe and the afternoon tea was delicious.
For a reunion with my lovely friend after such a long time this venue was perfect. Gorgeous environment and delicious food with the bonus Imogen amazing weather.
Everything was outstanding. Thank you for a lovely day!
As always, beautiful location, attentive staff and wonderful food.... however
I asked for a Tom Collins cocktail which is a pretty basic cocktail and they got it completely wrong, nowhere near enough syrup if any, which is disappointing for a restaurant of this standard but maybe they didn't have the correct staff on that day. Anyway, I hate complaining so I fixed it myself with sachets of sugar which made it drinkable but they should maybe take note or not agree to make a cocktail if they don't know how .... especially considering the price of their cocktails.
Will be back despite this but stick to the cocktails on their menu I guess
Wonderful outdoor dining experience on the terrace.
Amazing setting with stunning views amazing service and delicious food
Always a joy and a treat to visit Cowley Manor, excellent food and amazing surroundings
First time here.I thought it would be somewhere nice to go for my husband’s birthday. The food was disappointing, particularly the dessert ,a chocolate delice which was a dry bland sponge with a claggy mouse and some chocolate sauce. Can’t remember when I last left a dessert! The meal felt like there was no effort . We won’t be going again.
Great setting and food was excellent.
Only one part I was not impressed with is that the woman on the table next to me was smoking. I would have thought you would ask if guests wish to smoke or not and put them together in one area like on the far left and you come in.
Food was delicious. The setting was incredible. The gentleman who showed us to the table was a little cold but the service was great after that. Considering the setting, the menu was great value.
One of the best restaurants in Cheltenham and they did not disappoint, despite COVID regulations. We went for a business lunch and it's fair to say our client went away very happy with the hospitality.
I would recommend paying a visit!
Excellent all round! Loved the environment and outlook across the gardens and parkland.
Marvellous place and the food was perfect! Best roast beef I have eaten! We will be back several more times.
Fabulous location for our first `out of lockdown` lunch on terrace overlooking the extensive gardens. The weather was beautiful - however the hotel have awning and heaters, and blankets on hand should they be needed for al fresco dining. We will be back (if we can get a table!)
Staff were very accommodating and service was flawless. Food was a very high standard - plenty of choice and excellent flavours
Friendly staff. Very good food and beautiful surroundings. Would definitely recommend.
Very good food and service. Lovely to be able to eat out again and the terrace has been turned into a lovely dining area
Excellent food and service. The restaurant had obviously worked hard to enable customers to have as good an experience as possible during the current COVID-19 restrictions.
The surroundings, the food and the service here are all outstanding. I've had spa days, afternoon teas and a few evening dinners at Cowley Manor and even managed to come and watch some of your outdoor cinema when you were able to do this. I love the place and the friendly staff and would highly recommend to anyone
Sunday lunch at Cowley Manor is always an enjoyable experience, food and service exceptional and the whole place is decorated beautifully for Christmas.
Went for breakfast didn't get alll menu items as described
Service was very friendly, but not quite up to scratch for such a smart hotel.
Lovely food and great service. Afternoon tea and champagne were really good quality and worth the money.
Continental breakfast has a good selection, but the pastries were the equivalent to a cheap low cost hotel. There are a couple of good bakeries in Cheltenham and would suggest the hotel review their supply chain for these.
I decided to pay extra for the full English, and in all honesty, I wish I had not. I could not eat more than a quarter of the sausage as it tasted like a cheap pork sausage. I was also served the smallest poached hens egg I have ever seen - you get the picture.
Overall, this hotel really really needs to up their game with the quality of their ingredients.
The service however was excellent and the waiting staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Nice food overall. Plates were super hot, but the food severed on them was just slightly warm and could have been hotter. The spiced cauliflower didn’t deserve to be called spiced as their really wasn’t any. The pork belly was lovely and morish.
The restaurant was freezing cold, I had to keep my snood abs coat on for most of the meal. It ruined it sadly.
We had an outstanding birthday dinner for my wife. Crowley Manor is a beautiful place and the food matches the quality of the surroundings. The staff were very lovely too and we had a fab evening. We will be back!
Love visiting this place. Always delights and our boys love the pool table!
We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Food was amazing and we were treated to a happy anniversary plate of fruit and merengue
We ha e been to Cowley Manor for meals a few time and it never disappoints.
This occasion was for my wife’s birthday and the surprise pudding at the end was a real treat. Amazing setting, fantastic food and friendly staff made for a lovely meal.
Great tasting, quality food presented stylishly. Cool modern / retro decor in a traditional stately home building. Good service from friendly staff. Would definitely eat there again.
This was our first visit to Cowley Manor despite living in the area for many years. It was lovely, loved the quirky decor and the grounds were spectacular. The food was good and such good price. All serving staff were very nice and we felt safe in the surroundings. We will certainly return.
Lovely food - made even more good value by the Eat out to help out scheme. A very enjoyable evening.
