The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm
*Due to the style of menu on special events including Sunday Suppers and Holidays, because of the complexities involved with individual and specific food allergies, we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions.*
Sourcing food and fulfilling our goals of supporting small local artisan growers and producers and utilizing our farm as the chefs pantry gives us the opportunity to create an evolving menu that draws its inspiration from the seasons and in harmony with the earth. The venue with a breathtaking view and natural setting overlooking the Potomac River is spectacular. Our farm to your table presents local, organic, seasonal cuisine. Dining Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening, Saturday and Sunday brunch/lunch, Sunday supper, a wedding, rehearsal dinner, corporate or special event – we strive to exceed your dreams. The innovative and skillfully executed dishes follow the lead of nature, being mindful of the environment.

As always this restaurant is amazing. Service is great, food is excellent, view is spectacular. I would recommend to try vichyssoise. Trout is great. Dark Chocolate Pavlova is exactly as I remember it from my childhood (many moons ago). Strongly recommend to visit this place.
Service is outstanding and very intimate. It's like visiting family. The food is impeccable. The chef visited our table. We were there for Sunday Supper which is served family style.
Second visit--One of the best meals EVER! Compares favorably with several Michelin restaurants we have dined at. Service was excellent and not overbearing. The progression of dishes which included a "roots" course; striper brandade; gnocchi(fabulous feta dressing); pork belly(rhubarb and salmon for the pescatarian) and two scrumptious desserts--plus a couple of more courses made for a "just enough food" dinner that left us saying "this needs to be a monthly event." Kudos to the Beverley Billand (owner and hostess) and new (6 month's on site) chef Vincent Badiee.
This is our 4th time here. The food was excellent.
Simply the best. #1 in Virginia, and probably a few neighboring states as well. Just sorry it took us so long to visit this fine establishment.
Amazing service, food taste and presentation was excellent. Hard to find anything wrong with the progression menu. Great ambience that creates an authentic farm to table experience!
The vichyssoise delightful; the whole trout delectable; the desserts sinful. In short, as always the kitchen knocks it out of the park. But... service was a touch off, we felt like an afterthought, not helped by the fact we were told "I'll be your server 'after all' "... Alas. Patowmack Farms remains my favorite Sunday brunch place and I look forward to my next outing there.
Fantastic chef and original exceptional dishes! Try the crab cake appetizer! Everything presented is well thought out for outstanding taste and quality, and originality.
Excellent meal as always!
The food was great and well presented. The portion was a bit small but loved the flavor of each course. However, the server who helped us that day was not friendly and she did not serve the food but different people come and go while other servers were interacted with their customers and explain about the dish with details. When cleaning plates, she looked other way and it seemed she almost tried not to make any eye contact with us. Other servers who came to our table with food were friendly. Without them, I would have felt very unpleasant and uncomfortable feeling during the entire dinner. I would love to come back if the service is better next time.
Friend and I came for brunch. We were the only ones there to start. I had dined there once before and had raved to my friend about the food. It was disappointing this time .. the food was fine but not on par with my last visit. The coffee and food temperature could have been hotter. The view is fantastic and I will probably go again just for the view but I expected more.
Staff extra caring. Food was delicious
Ambience very pleasant and easy to visit with each other.
Wonderful service and delicious food!
A great place for a special meal. We went for my birthday, but we'll probably be back to splurge every couple of months since they're always changing the menu.
I was so excited to go back to this spot. My husband and I had been there a few times prior and it was one of our absolute favorites. Due to COVID it had been shut down for a little while, and just recently it opened it doors again. I immediately booked our reservation, and it just happened to be around our anniversary.
We arrived a little early for our reservation, but were sat right away. The tables were spaced apart nicely and the staff was very conscientious regarding social distancing and masks. When we sat down we were given the personalized menu (always a wonderful touch), but it was 1/3 of what it normally is. The last couple times we had been there they had the "grown / raised / farmed" menus to choose from, but this time there was only one list. The beverage / wine list seemed very small as well. Unfortunately the menu only had a few things that I really enjoyed - and the items that I did enjoy were just ok. Nothing about the menu left me wanting more. I remember being sad when my dinner was finished the last time we were there, but this time I didn't have the same feeling. We both did the wine pairing and the wines were good, but not great and often the pour was very, very small - and typically one of our glasses had much less than the other. Also, the wines would come out way before the course, and it would be gone by the time the food arrive (there was a significant lull at times - fine if we have enough wine to drink). Our bill was a little over $300 for two people, $370 after tip. For the amount of money spent, we just did not feel we got what we had come for. I know this is still covid and they just reopened, but if this menu is going to be the norm, I am not sure if I will come back.
*I would not recommend Restaurant at Patowmack Farm to a friend until they bring back their traditional menu style (3 choices).
The dinner could not have gone better. Great view next to the windows, a warm mini-fireplace near the table. Great service and the food was very accommodating to my dietary restrictions while remaining gourmet quality.
We had a marvelous and truly one-of-a-kind dinner tonight. The chef's tasting menu was creative and beautifully plated. This was not the work of any typical chef--it was edible art. It was truly inspired. The wine pairings were spot on. Service was exemplary. We will be back many times and can't wait to see what the next menu is like!
Thank you for the kind words. We truly appreciate you taking the time. I will pass on the "greatness" to the staff and chef. Hope to see you soon. Beverly, Owner
It was wonderful as always. The view, the food, the ambiance is
always a pleasure.
Thank you for taking the time to review. Truly appreciate it. Bevery, Owner
Excellent progressive dinner. Wine parings were perfect. This is my favorite restaurant in all of Northern Virginia.
Thank you for the kind review. So great to see you. Look forward to seeing you again. Beverly, Owner
The restaurant is unique. Staff were great. The dishes very very good. Only one dish out of 8 on the tasting menu was not up to their standard
Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We always appreciate constructive criticism. It is the only way to improve and the chef has certainly done that. I look forward to seeing you again. All the best, be safe and stay well. Beverly, Owner
Outstanding dining experience in every way! Each course is innovative and packed with flavor. Creative presentation. The cocktails are unique combinations. Service is personable yet professional. Tables were spaced to accommodate COVID restrictions. Have been here a number of times and never disappointed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. I am so happy that you enjoyed your dining experience. I will pass the information to the staff who will be delighted. They are truly the best so thank you for mentioning them. Beverly, Owner
Wonderful food and experience. A great restaurant.
It is such a delightful treat! The food is exceptional!
Once again just an absolutely wonderful experience both from a service and food perspective. Having recently been diagnosed with celiac I wasn’t sure how things would go since it was the New Year’s Eve progressive dinner. The entire staff was abundantly aware of my situation before we even arrived and took the time to explain. The precise differences between by GF dishes and my wife’s ‘standard’ fare. I truly believe this is one of the best restaurants in the entire tri-state region. We’ve never been disappointed.
The food was terrific; the new chef is excellent. Ambiance could have been better, esp. given it was a holiday. We know that COVID restrictions mean outside eating where possible, but the restaurant should have anticipated people wanting to eat inside and planned for that, as there was more than enough room inside to accommodate. The main problem was the service, which usually is excellent. It started out well, but deteriorated to the point where we moved empty plates to the side of the table as a hint to remove them. Even with that, it was difficult to catch the wait staff's attention (the restaurant was not busy.) Not what we've usually experienced at this high end restaurant.
Always a unique field trip. Lovely setting, delightful presentation and delicious food.
Loved our Thanksgiving meal outdoors at the Restaurant at Potowmack. All Covid 19 orecautions taken, and ate at lovely outdoor patio. Food was fantastic and the views are amazing. Loved our experience there, especially after being in isolation for so long. I did feel bad for the next time slot, as our meal extended longer than they likely planned, resulting in a backup/wait for the next group. But I felt this experience was worth every penny. One of my all-time favorite places to go for dates or special occasions.
Fantastic food. We will definitely be back. Superb view. Most of all I was highly impressed at their Covid training and screening for every patron.
Remind diners that the bridge at Dickerson on Route 28 is closed. The detour takes about 45 minutes. Better to come up 270 to Urbana, catch 80, then south on 28 before heading toward Point of Rocks and Rt 15
We had a wonderful brunch on their outside patio. They should be used as a model on how to provide a safe dining experience without sacrificing a welcoming atmosphere, great service and delicious, inventive food. We plan on going back soon.
Fantastic experience top to bottom. Gorgeous setting and an exquisite meal. A perfect evening.
It was our wedding anniversary and the flowers at our table were wonderful!! Food was superb and service fantastic. We ate indoors and a huge rainstorm hit the area after about a 1/2 hour. We took our time, had some coffee, and our wonderful desert. My wife and I reminisced about our wedding event 52 years ago and before we knew it the rain stopped. No one rushed us at all and their staff wished us a Happy Anniversary as we were leaving. We will be back for sure with some of our neighbors. Thank you for such a wonderful evening to celebrate our Anniversary!
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch out on the patio overlooking the Potomac River valley. Already planning our next visit!
Had an excellent experience and enjoyed the scenery and the food.
Loved this restaurant; perfect for date night. Even met the owner and had a wonderful conversation. We can’t wait to go back.
The view, the food, the drinks and the service add up to a wonderful experience.
The best restaurant in Virginia.
We’ve always loved the Restaurant at Patowmack Farm. The scenery and food never disappoint. We also greatly appreciated the care staff took during the pandemic with temperature screening of patrons and a requirement to wear a mask when not at your table. Thank you for a lovely time. We will be back soon.
Lovely place. Very expensive, particularly since food portions very small and inadequate. Delicious food, though. Wine pairing was quite expensive, given the small pours (and one of the four was a very sweet port).
