    Overall very enjoyable meal, there were 3 of us, 2 of us had wild boar scotch egg to start, can’t fault them, excellent. For mains the venison steak was excellent , very tender, pork loin was great though the fondant potato could have used a few minutes more cooking, the trout was very good but the polenta was bland. Desserts were OK, crème brûlée was a little bitter, over torched topping, the sticky toffee pudding was a great success. Service was excellent and unobtrusive.

    Attentive service, pleasant surroundings and view into the garden. The food on the whole was good although we felt the pigeon breast starter needed 'something else' to go with it.

    We both had the chicken, good job I wasn't very hungry, not so good for my husband! Tasted OK but the portion size was laughable. A quarter of a small chicken, 4 of the smallest carrots known to man, and a Mr Kipling cake slice of potato. All for £18!

    We sat in the lounge as we had our pooch with us. The lounge has a nice atmosphere and was a great place to sit with no pressure when eating with a toddler. Beef brisket burger was delicious. Portions are big so can't complain.

    The fish was fairly small amount for the price and some of the artichoke was very chewy. The steak was excellent but the sticky toffee pudding was dry and the sauce was sparse. Overall quite expensive for what there was.

    Fabulous food at this lovely hotel… staff are excellent… highly recommend the pig cheeks and the herb chicken, but all was lovely . Bar drinks at London prices which is a bit off considering the location

    Lovely service, nice gardens and some tables have a lovely view onto those gardens. The food was a little underwhelming for the price, especially noted was the Sunday roast vegetarian option which was wellington, which two of our party had and didn’t think it was very tasty.

    Food is wonderfully cooked, flavoured, and presented,although portion size left something to be desired and prices seemed a little high. The restaurant ambiance was pleasant and staff quite friendly.

    Stand out for me both dinner and breakfast was the service. Excellent and rarely seen from such ‘young’ staff these days. Well done. My dinner was excellent.. the Sancerre delightful and the cheeseboard excellent. The breakfast was 11/10… Reception gets an honourable mention too. One minor .. Selection of channels on tv a bit restricted.. Would I return .. Definitely. 👏👏👏

    Had Sunday lunch at Stratton House. We have been a few times for various things and really like the hotel and ambience. The serving staff are lovely and very helpful. One server's shirt was very dirty! But otherwise they are all very polite and efficient. The set course menu on website (3 courses for X, 2 courses for X) is no longer available, and IMO this shouldn't be advertised on the website if that's the case. This made the £20 roast not as great value for money we thought - however, the vegetables were lovely and a good selection. We didn't like the choice of starters so passed, but the dessert choice was fair and our dessert were lovely. The sticky toffee pudding was supposed to come with toffee ice-cream but weirdly came with raspberry ripple because toffee was sold out! Upon asking, other choices would have been vanilla or salted caramel which was a much better choice - so this was a bit of a confusion to us - however, the server happily brought out this. My "soda and lime" was extremely expensive as 2 mini bottles needed for glass - I'd assumed it was on tap. £45 for the roast, a pud, 2 large soda/lime and a licquer coffee. Overall, we wouldn't return for the Sunday lunch, but do enjoy the food and atmosphere there, so would have afternoon tea or other meals/coffee etc.

    Denied sitting outside despite being 5 meters from where we were seated. Not willing to set up. Food was like a school dinner. No ice bucket for rose wine until requested.

    Lovely meal with friends at Stratton House on Wednesday evening. Sat outside on the lovely terrace as it was a warm sunny evening. Good choice of starters and mains and friendly helpful staff. Would recommend

    Food was nice, but nothing very special. Lots of things unavailable. One meal was really not great (dry in places and quite fatty meat) but the staff were lovely in swapping it without any fuss at all

    Service was rushed even though we were 0ne of the 3 tables dining so not busy and not very polite,,couple of youngsters were lovely..roast dinner,not tasty and not filling..desserts were good and to be honest that was the only good thing about our experience which was a celebration..a previous visit by a family member was superb and made us book under their recommendation

    I love the spaces inside Stratton House. 3 of us went for a ‘light bite’ and sat in the lounge in comfy armchairs. However I had a dish which I have had in the past - crushed avocado with (2) poached eggs on sourdough with harissa. There was about a tablespoon of avocado. This cost £11.50. I know everything has gone up but really it’s far too expensive

    The menu at the site is the old menu with (lower) prices. The food is well cooked but is served not warm enough because of cold plates. Paying cash was refused!

    We ate at Stratton on two evenings the food was absolutely beautiful and cooked to perfection. We had the lamb chops, octopus and risotto and the chicken. Each dish was amazing. The staff were great too Thankyou so much for making our stay very enjoyable

    It was nice to be able to have a coffee ,lunch (sandwich) A bar meal or a lovely Evening 3 course meal and wine in the Restaurant. I would suggest it would be nice in the evening to have linen table clothes and napkins which would just make it that bit more special.
