Not a huge menu but catered for most tastes, could do with a few more on the starter option though.
I had ray wing for the first time ever, it was enormous and very well presented. Tasty sauce with it.
Desert menu also very limited.
Service was very prompt and the young waiters and waitresses were very polite. Overpriced wine but that would be the same anywhere I guess.
Overall a pleasant meal.
Stunning garden setting, excellent food, five star service, highly recommend and will return for sure. Thank you.
Staff was very welcoming and friendly , lovely relaxing atmosphere, nothing was a bother to anyone . Massive credit to the hotel on their staff
Lovely meal and a great setting. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Thank you
Went for a girls lunch on Monday. Sat in the garden which was lovely except for the lawn being mowed but I guess that has to be done to keep it looking good but the service from Andrew was lovely, the menu had so many nice things we had difficulty choosing and when the food arrived it lived up to our expectations being super tasty and good sized portions . We had a real treat with some delicious Woodchester wine. Nice to see local produce on the menu. All in all would definitely recommend and look forward to returning
Very nice menu and the portion size are generous. We have been before and will continue to support the restaurant. Helpful staff and good atmosphere.
Lovely food, large portions, great service, desserts a tad expensive and not a big variety
Perfect food was amazing and service spot on nice atmosphere eve very friendly staff
Great food service a little slow, lovely and clean, staff polite just a little slow at the table
Had my meal been excellent I would have awarded much higher stars but unfortunately my chicken dish was spoilt by the tremendous amount of salt and ground black pepper on the very large portion of fries on which it sat. It would have been more palatable if served with a light salad and about three quarter less fries. Having said that, my husband's meal was topnotch as were our desserts. Coffee in the lounge was lovely. The staff were delightful and efficient. I did not return my meal as we were celebrating a special anniversary and I did not wish to spoil the moment. We thought the ambience of the hotel was super. We hope to return in the future.
Lovely hotel food fab staff very friendly great
The food wasn’t bad but the service was awful. We had to ask several times for things and never got some of the things we asked for. Definitely not going to recommend it not go again. Appalling.
Lovely food, and service in a fab hotel. The trout was delicious. The vegetarian Aloo gobi was tasty but perhaps slightly overpriced. We would certainly eat here again.
Clean restaurant, beautiful garden, tasty food, staff lovely however I would say they were under staffed an extra pair of hands was needed.
Food was ok but the service was very slow. The restaurant seemed to be understaffed and servers lacking in training (possibly a result of just reopening?)
Recommended by a family friend we had Sunday Roast which was well presented, ample portions, fresh veg and succulent Lamb (2 diners) and Beef (2 diners)
Excellent all round with attentive waiting staff
Meeting with a lifelong friend after 10 months made the choice of setting perfect
Thank You Stratton House Hotel
Went there for date night, and we loved it. The food was delicious (had the hand picked crab starter, the best I’ve had in the UK), the wine is nice and fairly priced, the ingredients come from local producers.
Although the setting isn't very intimate for a romantic date night, we sat in the beautifully calm garden as the sun was setting and we had a great evening.
Luke, our waiter, was very friendly and went out of his way to help, and he would have made the evening had the food been disappointing, which it wasn’t.
To top it up, it is surrounded by beautiful fields if you feel like going for a walk post meal.
100% would recommend!
Great fish & ships, sausage & mash, & veggie burger. Plenty of it, nicely cooked & well presented.
Lovely lunch, good wine, tasty food, welcoming staff.
Considering our evening meal was on only the second evening of hospitality reopening everything was excellent . Food, service etc all superb . Friendly staff and nice warm atmosphere . Fair value for money .
We loved the food
The staff were really friendly and helpful
Lovely staff that was always at hand, I had flat iron chicken which was over seasoned and black at one end. The children had fish goujons and chips and peas which made them sick that evening, I did have my suspicion about the fish as it did smell off, chips and onion rings was cooked in old cooking oil, the grounds needs a maintenance team in, hope they turn this place around as all lovely people there.
Lovely garden although there is some building work which is due to be finished in the next week. But will be worth it as the hotel is adding a spa. It was a chilly evening but we were kept warm with the outdoor heating. Lovely first evening out with friends since lockdown. The service and food was excellent which made to a very special evening reuniting with friends and catching up. Thankyou to all the staff at Stratton hotel.
Beautiful food and lovely touch free glass of champagne because it was my birthday. Really made it feel special. Thanks to the lovely staff
The food was well served, very tasty and places were hot. Service was very good. The staff adhered to Covid restrictions and were friendly.
The staff were friendly bu service was slow. Attention to detail was lacking. As a dairy free diner (through necessity) I was advised that I could have the flat chicken without the garlic butter. Unfortunately I was then given chicken with garlic butter. This was quickly rectified but just given some very dry chicken and a mountain of french fries. It was not at all thoughtful or appetising.
My son had the children's menu, which was OK, the usual children's choir of food and I think he would have appreciated something a bit more grown up. He did however say that the chips were the best he has ever had and his Brownie for dessert smelt delicious.
We had starter of mussels which was excellent but the main courses were very average with too many chips and not enough vegetables
Highly recommend. Excellent food in a beautiful setting
We stayed at this hotel and decided to eat dinner there.
Meals were as described on menu.
Well cooked and presented.
Reasonably priced and we enjoyed them.
Beautifully refurbished throughout. Excellent meal beautifully presented by friendly well drilled staff.
Decided to take the wife out for lunch, it was lovely the food we ordered was excellent, she had the Minute steak and I had the fish and chips. A whole Plaice standing on its edge was delivered. Well cooked and huge. Excellent value for money. Could pass as a special. The lemon and gooseberry posset to finish off was divine.
Atmosphere lost a star as it was a bit quiet as there were only 3 diners including ourselves. But I’m sure in the summer it’s a buzzing place as you can see it’s potential. Recommended by me.
We had never been here before and were favourably impressed. The restaurant was quit busy but well spaced out. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. I had chicken and hubby had sea bass. The starter of marrow fritter was lovely 😀. Everything was pleasant and we will go again. Maybe for lunch next time
Nice garden room restaurant with views over the terrace and garden beyond. Tables distanced according to rules, felt safe.
Table service was good with pleasant staff. Food was good , our fish and chips were hot and crispy, the fish white and falling apart.
Good food and friendly service. Limited menu options but beautifully cooked and presented.
Nice food in pleasant surroundings. Coped well with Coronavirus restrictions
We ate here for the second night of our stay. The fish pie was good and they provided extra vegetables when asked. The burger was disappointing as it was over cooked and very dry, it was also served on a tiny long plate which was. Of big enough resulting in most of it falling off the plate.
Excellent. Food was cooked to perfection. Menu was varied and had some creativity such as the new season marrow fritters (which were delicious). My first full English was the best breakfast I’ve been ever enjoyed (I stays for three nights). Thank you Chef, you did a great job.
Good service and social distanced food good menu a little thin
For starters I ordered the fried squid and it was very crispy and tasty. For mains I ordered the sea bream and it was delicious. Dessert I ordered the elderflower posset and it was yummy! Overall I can't fault the food and the service was excellent.
The food is well priced and hearty. The portions were very large and we definitely left full. We shared the pudding which was a lemon and gooseberry posset which we both absolutely loved!
