The food was indifferent. The staff didn't know what they were doing. One doesn't chill red wine. Our half bottle of wine left over in the fridge disappeared. All in all a VERY disappointing experience!!!!!
This was one of the worst dining experiences we have had. Not only were the tables sticky, no table cloths provided but the windows appeared not to have been cleaned for generations. The amount of spiders made it impossible to enjoy the meal.
The state of the hotel was deplorable, the upstairs restaurant area was in a mess. This place is in desperate need of complete refurbishment. Given the prime location of The Mitre its condition is deplorable.
In its present state it should be inspected by the authorities.
Lovely location. Limited menu. Friendly staff. Food freshly prepared.
Booked for evening meal. No need to as we were the only ones in the restaurant.
The view overlooking the Thames was amazing.
The food was simply fantastic so fresh and tasty.
Service by 20-somethings left much to be desired in terms of attentiveness, efficiency and speed. We shared the pork terrine to start and it was fine. I asked for the vegetarian plate to be modified, switching to pasta from gnocchi, which the chef did. The dish, however, lacked flavour. My companion had the spare ribs and chips. The ribs in the center were better than the ends. The chips were average.
The view, however, is what you go for, which is what most reviewers agree on. So adjust your expectations.
Lovely to be able to moor the boat and then enjoy a relaxed Sunday lunch on the terrace overlooking the River Thames. The service was excellent and food good value but from a limited choice.
The place is looking very tired and could do with a face lift. Food was very average and not much other than burger, chicken burger or hot dog with chips!!!! £11 + sides +drinks. Location is nice and the service was good and quick although it was very quiet for a saturday afyernoon.
Perfect position, could do with a little smartening, flowers on the tables would be nice. Menu was basic, but well cooked.
Food and drinks took so long to arrive and 2 nd drinks didn’t arrive at all, was forgotten about
very basic menu.... very basic pub grub. we were the only table in the restaurant.
used our opentable dining cheque, otherwise the meal would have been awful value.
Being a very hot day there were long queues at the bar , the staff couldn't cope with the extra influx of guests , who only wanted a drink .As a result they completely ignored the guests who had booked tables much in advance for lunch. We were seated at our table where it was completely deserted. Later one family arrived. They virtually forgot us.
STAFF MUST BE TRAINED TO WORK UNDER PRESSURE. The only good aspect of this place is the view , as the food is mediocre and few dishes were not available to order as they ran out . . The attitude of the waitress was also very rude as if to say we are busy go somewhere else!
Not a good experience at all .Would not recommend or even revisit.
I was given a voucher for a gift, if I hadn't, I would have left after waiting so long to be served. This restaurant is part of a hotel on the river at Hampton Court, so it's an attraction to sit by the river on the sunny Saturday we were there. When we arrived the barman looked harassed and the other mainly male staff just looked confused and overwhelmed. There were already people complaining about their drinks orders at the bar when we arrived, not a good sign. We arrived at 1.30 and left at 4. Some staff were making a good act of looking busy but actually weren't doing anything except carrying empty trays. If the majority of staff had better training then I might go back as the location is great and the food is also good which is a shame as the majority of the front of house let's the side down.
Lovely staff, but be very slow can be easier to order at the bar.
Booked a table here for Easter Sunday. Was seated quickly and given a menu (only 3 tables were taken so the restaurant wasn’t busy) but then completely ignored by the waitress for 30mins - no drinks or food order taken in this time and she was spending time clearing and setting tables We just up and left. Do not go if you are looking for good service.
Enjoyable meal in the Mitre Bistro. Friendly and nice service. Fairly narrow menu range but plenty enough for us. Enjoyable evening meal
Lovely restaurant , brilliant food and great service.
Nice food, and view, service very slow, had to go to bar to order pudding and coffee.
Food very good
Ambience let down by ageing decor, dirty carpets and overall pub feel if the place . Wonderful views of the river that could be so much more romantic
