About
Great food with great personal service - and great value! My first time at The Riddler but look forward to going back.
We booked a meal pre theatre and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good atmosphere and service.
Great food and great value. A great addition to the local area where food options at night are very limited. Ideal if you are attending something in the Tivoli or Vicar Street or for guests staying at Jury's
While new with a modern decor, cozy and inviting local with a highly attentive and accommodating staff. A real find for those in search of local, tasty cuisine.
The fish was outstanding, and the beefy tasty.
We had a Christmas Dinner, it was delicious.
For starter, main and dessert we had the choice between three dishes, also a vegetarian menue. We enjoyed it all.
great feel when you enter this establishment wonderful food friendly staff a great night out
The vegetable soup was wonderful. Risotto was bland and Christmas pudding was awful.
The service was second to none and the live music a treat- really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend- and happy days, just a short stroll to Vicar Street after!
Lovely food, great decor - especially the wall paper in the loo's!
Also it was a freezing night and we got a lovely table beside a heater.
Great value! Great service! Enjoyable night! Would come again!
Lovely food, good value. Location great for food pre gig in vicar st.
We visited here for early dinner last week on a biting cold evening. From the time we entered we were very impressed - excellent service - lovely ambiance and food was amazing. We will be back. Very cosy relaxed atmosphere. Very well managed with happy staff making diners feel very welcome.
The food was very nice, all of us, five persons, were enthousiastic. The wine I had was by the way not good and there was a cold wind where we were seated (nearby the door).
Excellent food and service. Very pleasant staff and overall a really nice place to eat.
Excellent food, staff were very friendly. Excellent service.
Excellent service from a very friendly staff. Food was fresh, the fish was beautifully prepared and not overcooked, the salad was tasty, the presentation is very good and it is great value too. We enjoyed it and will return.
My partner and I went for a date night at the Riddler last Saturday, we enjoyed every minute of it and the food was outstanding, would highly recommend.
The food is excellent but the service is horrible. Couple sat down next to us and was served way before us. Not cool
We were going to Vicar Street and wanted a bite to eat beforehand. There aren’t a lot of options around that area and we found The Riddler by searching google maps. The menu looked good but we didn’t have high expectations - we really were not aware of the treat that was in store for us! There were four of us and each one of us thought the food was truly excellent.
It was a chance find when we were looking for a restaurant near Vicar Street but we were very impressed with the food and the menu. Would definitely go back again
A wonderful dining experience food was fab. Service first rate
Booked on the off chance as we were going to see Dara O' Briain at Vicar Street, just down the road and had a lovely meal, staff were friendly and helpful, steak was excellent and cooked perfectly. Plus we enjoyed working out all the riddles bar one.
It took almost an hour to receive out main course. We didn’t order starters. Bread was served to all other tables around bar us. When asked about our main course after about 40mins there was no apology just told it was on it’s way. To wait another 10-15mins. When received chips were under cooked, greasy and soggy, veg was tasteless. We had to rush eating food as we were on our way to a gig which is never a pleasant dining experience.
Everything was great! The only negative is that when we arrived they thought the booking was only for 2! But after we explained we had booked for 4, the staff were very accommodating and sitted us at a nice table for 4! Food was great! Great find! Would definitely be recommending to friend and family in the future!
Picked this restaurant from others' reviews and proximity to our rental. Was quiet the weeknight we attended but it was also past 8. The gentleman who attended to us was very warm and helpful. Food was delicious and well priced. Menu was short but everyone in our group of four found something they liked. The Riddles were fun to ponder and debate too.
The food was well presented but no veg or accompanying food with the dish I ordered (hake) that's all that was on the plate. 4 options for each dinner course so very limited choice. Charged for a bottle of wine we didn't get although we spotted it. Although food was delicious I wouldn't go back for dinner as not good value for money.
Incredible risotto, very nice atmosfere and service. Highly recommend.
Nice friendly waiter who was very helpful with the menu. Quirky surroundings with riddles everywhere. We spent a while when we went in trying to solve some of them. Lovely food. Nice bread served while we were choosing. I had the goats cheese followed by the hake from the early bird menu. Top class presentation. The only fault was with the side of sautéed potatoes which were a bit oily. I would definately recommend The Riddler and as I will be back.
Fantastic service and food. So good we returned 2 nights in a row.
Fantastic food. Great service
Lovely evening. From greeting at the door to the service, the food all was great. Balieys Creme Brûlée was delish! Thanks to Ziggy and all the staff.
We had a very good starter salad with duck, and a great steak, which was cooked exactly to our order. Also the fish was very good.
I've been here twice and, apart from the Old Dublin on Francis St in the '80s, there hasn't been anywhere like it. The first time I wandered in for lunch and I suppose, old fashionedly, waited for service. Happily, the man I imagine is either the owner or manager, recognised this, greeted me and brought me to a table, gave me menus and offered me water. I ordered a glass of red wine and the confit duck wrap and it was tasty, duck and wine.
My second visit was for the Sunday brunch menu and this time I brought a friend. She had the goat's cheese salad and I had the seafood chowder. We both had glasses of Swallow's Tail Chenin blanc. She loved the salad and its unobtrusive vinaigrette. I found the chowder brimming with chunks of fish, white and smoked, plenty of cubed vegetables and a sauce that was neither cloying or heavy but flavoursome and appetising.
Of course, no brunch is worth its sea salt without a brace of alcohol, a hair of the dog cocktail like a Bloody Mary but, regretfully, as loving as it was prepared, it lacked the Tabasco bite I like and asked for, the one cloud on an otherwise sunny day. Will I return? Absolutely. They've started doing evening meals and I'm going to be a regular.
