We like to test the creativity of our highly skilled chefs resulting in great dishes you’d be unlikely to find elsewhere. Unlike tapas it’s not about everything being brought to your table all at once but more about promoting a slow paced and relaxed dining experience whereby ordering dish by dish you can eat as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
At the Ring’O’Bells we endeavour to please, after all, what restaurant would be complete without steak! Alongside our small plates menu we are proud to offer a selection of selected steaks which we chargrill for an authentic flavour. Other offerings include roast diners available Sunday lunch time and live jazz every Sunday evening.
SHUT DOWN don't go
Nice small restaurant, the food was ok but was nothing special. The desserts were disappointing.
Nice, friendly staff. Food was mixed. Some dishes were good, others tasteless. We had a nice time regardless.
Great little place to eat or just enjoy a glass. We had a wonderful meal, my hubby opted for a ribeye steak and I chose 3 small plates; crab bisque, scallops with smoked apple and caponata with polenta crisp. Delicious.
We apologise for your experience, let us explain. On this evening we were 75% booked so let OpenTable to take bookings. At 7pm we received a lot of "walk-in" trade and the restaurant became busy to the point of standing room only, and the staff didn't get an opportunity to block incoming reservations from OpenTable. Your booking came through quite late into service, giving us no time to cancel it. We explained the situation to you, apologised and suggested other potential restaurants.
Very expensive, menu was a bit limited and definitely not one to take children to. Food was nice.
To be fair we have visited The Ring O'Bells twice whilst staying in Bath. Our first visit in 2018 was great but sadly last week was not so good. Although the food was great we were told when booking that it was Bath Comedy Week and people may be in and out of the restaurant from the upstairs room where the entertainment was. I thought it would be ok but my advice is don't book that week as you will not get the real ambience of the place. The door kept jamming open as folk went in and out all night and people were smoking in the doorway, so we were both cold and I had to keep getting up to close the door. We eventually grabbed our plates and drinks and moved to another table but even then it wasnt great.
May be a good idea to close the restaurant during comedy week as I had no idea how much it would spoil the dining experience for us and as it was a special treat and cost around £80 for my daughter and me I was really disappointed.
A really good Sunday Lunch. This is a great pub to visit.
Ups and downs. Down was an early booking in empty restaurant yet we were sat beside a very noisy family with disruptive kiddies. Also there was a serious cold draft from a cupboard or stairwell beside me. The restaurant is nicely styled with very comfortable chairs. I love the small plates idea, the goats cheese semifreddo with beetroot was inspired, not so sure about the pigeon pastrami. The fish chowder had flavour but a watery consistency. We had a pleasant evening and staff were friendly. The manager had not see Open Table cheques before but kindly accepted mine.
Lovely restaurant and staff. The food was excellent, especially the steak, beans!
Love this wonderful local restaurant. Such delicious flavour combinations. Highly recommended.
Hadn’t been here for years and was impressed with the food, ambience and staff. Just need to sort their WiFi signal out as couldn’t pay the bill by card! ;-)
We really enjoyed our meal at the Ring O Bells on Friday night. The food was innovative, well cooked and beautifully presented. It's small sharing portion sizes, like Tapas. We found five plates between 2 perfect. Wine selection was good and some by the glass. I recommend the rabbit and hare ballentine most highly!
A superb meal, every plate full of flavour and beautifully presented. Infinitely better than the Michelin star restaurant we had eaten at a week before in Bristol. Friendly attentive service. A great experience
Excellent really enjoyed it. Great service and food was delicious. Lovely atmosphere too.
Concept of small plates is well executed here. Not a quick bite, but a full taste experience.
Really disappointing after reading such good reviews. Perhaps the normal chef was on holiday as the food was bland and forgettable. Sadly the service was a little awkward too.
Great experience, beautifully presented and tasting food! A great gem
This place is spectacular: staff, atmosphere, decor and food alike. Thank you for such a wonderful and unforgettable dining experience!
We were spending our anniversary weekend in Bath and staying near the Ring O'Bells which is just outside the City Centre. An unusual menu where you can either choose steak or small portions from the menu (they advise 3 per person). The food is outstanding but the portions are small, although surprisingly filling. The staff were really friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend
We had a lovely evening, really enjoyed the food and very nice service.
A delicious Sunday lunch served in pleasant surroundings by polite and friendly staff. Recommended.
A great choice, found through the opentable app, and it was brilliant. Great ambience, a friendly welcome, fantastic food - the small plates menu, and lovely wine. We really enjoyed the dinner, for my wife’s birthday. We will definitely be visiting again and telling our friends.
A lovely dinner: superb food, great ambience, and friendly staff!
Loved this place. The small plates are definitely NOT tapas, but more like you can plan your own tasting menu. Excellent wine recommendations too. The food was fabulous. Best meal we’ve had in Bath since living here for a month, and we’ve been out exploring a lot!
Loved the variation in the menu and the way the food is presented. It was suggested that we have 6 of the smaller plates between us and that was perfect. We shared everything although we noticed that
others seemed to eat just what they had ordered.
Food was exceptional
Exceptional - found through Trip Advisor and got lucky with a booking. Great opportunity to sample some delicious food
Excellent welcome, food and service. Very reasonable given we ordered the majority of the menu. Would strongly recommend
Absolutely fantastic meal - great choice (including for vegetarians) and all the dishes we had were imaginative, tasty and well presented. It's unusual in that you would typically order 3 "main courses" each, so they're smaller than a normal main, but you get the variety like you would with tapas, but without sharing :) It's more expensive than a normal pub meal (coming to £40 a head for us with the 3 mains & a dessert each, good bottle of wine, additional alcohol, soft drinks and a decent tip) but I wouldn't hesitate on going there again if we visit Bath in the future - it really was a special meal.
Not far from the railway station and decent place to eat with friendly staff. Take care when ordering. Make sure you know what you’re getting - we ordered too many dishes that were far too rich and difficult to digest.
The gnocchi was very bland. I think the concept of very small portions doesn't work. If I pay nine pounds for soup, I expect a full portion of soup, not a tiny dish. The salad was good The hanger steak was good. One lamb chop doesn't really fill the bill. My advice, switch to larger portions and charge whatever you must.
We loved this place. Been in Bath two years now and never ventured in and were blown away but the friendly greeting, the wonderful service and great food. Our new favourite place to eat in Bath! Thank you!
Very nice meal. Nice to have a menu that's a bit different! Really nice food and friendly service
Brilliant food....fantastic small plates with brilliant flavours
MUST try the squid with feta cheese stuffing
Staff are super friendly and atmosphere is great
Unusually interesting food realised to a high standard. The setting is much more pub-like than the food.
The most amazing food.
The best place to eat in Bath.
The small plates are just SO good. I have not tasted food this good anywhere else, ever.
I usually have two small plates, and my husband often does the same, or has a steak or an amazing roast, if on a Sunday. Despite the fact that the roasts look so good, I just cannot stop eating the stuffed squid! Since living in Bath these last 6 months, We have eater lunch here 9 times. It is just a hop behind the train station or a 15min stroll along the canal from the Holburne Museum. Highly recommend!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Portions are small but worth the price. Don't be put off by the location just out of the centre of Bath, absolutely worth the short walk.
The food, drink and service here were superb! The atmosphere was sophisticated but casual with no raised voices from other tables. I would highly recommend to give the Ring O bells a try and look forward to coming back soon. we opted for the tapas style plates and believe me I love my food but 6 plates plus 2 sides between 2 was MORE than enough!! The service was friendly and engaging and a lot of other restaurants could learn a thing from the staff here!!!
The “Small Plate” idea allows you to have a variety of dishes. There was a good selection and all the dishes we had were lovely. Something a little different with great service and a relaxing atmosphere.
