My husband and I came here for a meal last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was fantastic, staff very polite and always checking we were ok, was a lovely evening and will definitely be back!

Took a relative to celebrate their 70th birthday. Drinks were very reasonably priced choice of food was excellent. Good quality and plenty on the plate. Service was excellent and staff could t do enough. Overall a really great experience that didn’t break the bank! Will be back very soon .

Always lovely service. Nice food and atmosphere. This pub restaurant is located near Chepstow offers a pretty venue with often a wood stove fire nearby with a warming atmosphere. Staff are always friendly. It is definitely one of my favourite places to dine when ever I am in the area. It offers good desserts and I love the lasagne or Pork Belly.

Visited here last night (7/11/23) for the Tuesday Steak night. We ordered the fillet steak and it was done to perfection. As a side order we had battered onions.. which were home made, delicious and plenty. We were served by two lovely young staff, a male and female, and they were attentive and courteous throughout.. a credit to this establishment. The evening was perfect. Thank you.

We didn’t know the Rock and Fountain had an upstairs seating area, until the lady showing us to our table said “we’re going upstairs, unfortunately”, which rather set the tone. It looks like overspill into a function room, which although has nice lights and beams, has a grey office carpet, a disused bar area and no ambience. Oddly the tables were also a couple of inches too low, meaning leaning over slightly uncomfortably to eat and it all felt a bit weird. The food was good, but it was for a rare meal out on our own, for our anniversary (which I’d noted when booking), and wasn’t really what we were expecting. There was a long table of 20+ ladies next to us, possibly on a work do, who seemed to be having a good time and I think that is probably what that area should just be used for - functions and big groups, not a couple hoping for a special evening. I would suggest checking where you will be placed when booking, I did this online and it was listed as ‘standard seating, but as I say having been a few times before, I had no idea there was an alternative to the downstairs area, which is really nice. We’ve sat outside in the Summer as well which was also perfectly pleasant.

The food here is outstanding. There was 4 in our party and we all has the 2 courses, and a side of onion rings which are the best. Sat by a log fire on a cold day.

Ideally I would've liked the option to have just the one course for Sunday lunch. Also I requested no potatoes nor sausage and got both! No dramas I just hate to waste food. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. Overall a very nice experience.

Lovely visit again! Steak night too so what a treat. We had the rump and it was a bit chewier than I’d have like but the flavours were good as well as the accompaniment. Cooked well too!

The meal was very good and the waitress service was very good as well. The only fault we noticed was that the dinner plates were cold and this sucked all the heat out of the steak which then became cold very quickly. We showed the waitress and she felt the plates and agreed. The only part of the plate that was 'warm' was the bottom under the steak. You have to heat the plates up before you serve food on them. Apart from that, very nice.
