lovely pub, but very limited vegetarian dishes. sat in the conservatory where the doors were open so nice breeze on a hot evening. very loud clock which chimed every 15 mins which spoilt the evening.

Made a point of stopping off here on the way to Tavistock from Bristol with my elderly parents (87 and 89) and did not regret it. Extremely accommodating, patient, helpful staff and remarkably calm atmosphere despite full pub.

The Rock Inn was a lovely place to take my husband for his birthday lunch. We were accompanied by our friend from USA who absolutely loved it. We had a good table by the window and the guy behind the bar and the waiting staff were vey nice and efficient. Varied menu to choose from although less choice than the weekday menu as the emphasis is on Sunday lunch. Beautifully presented and delicious food, if I had one tiny criticism, it would be that the risotto I had was a little salty. Good portion sizes. The dessert my friend had was totally delicious and looked exquisite on the plate. The coffee was excellent too which is an all too rare thing these days unfortunately. Not cheap, but all in all, pretty good value and lovely for a special treat.

We were on holiday at Haytor and had a most delicious and delightful dinner at The Rock. Everything was perfect, the ambiance, service and food all beyond reproach. Highly recommended.

Just a really, really lovely venue that was relaxed and welcoming. The food was just short of perfect but that’s not a criticism, I’d expect perfect from a Michelin star venue.
The staff were really helpful and really nice.
The location of the table was in a really nice part of the inn.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at this comfortable restaurant. It is a place we return to for special occasions for excellent food and service. The beer pickled onions accompanying the ham hock starter dish were amazing. The rump steak was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and timely.

Quirky traditional hotel / pub / restaurant.
Various seating areas, but main restaurant area quite compact. Service good, but food simply outstanding. There is an a la carte or fixed price menu, both are good value with great vegetarian options (wife). Local produce, freshly cooked to order. Some of the best pub / small restaurant food we have eaten. Not surprising that you need to book in advance. If you love your food, you will really enjoy this restaurant.

This is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal or a snack either in the restaurant or (on a warm dry day) in the beautiful garden opposite. The welcome is friendly, the service attentive but not intrusive by any means.
The food is always good and the quality is the same whichever part of the menu you choose.
The location is just a stone’s throw from Haytor which is a stunning place to walk on Dartmoor. There is inevitably a drawback and in this case, it’s parking, which isn’t easy and is in short supply on the lane.
Whether you are a visitor or a local, this place is well worth visiting.

The Rock Inn is nestled away in a beautiful part of the Dartmoor Country Park. It has a homely feel to it and serves good food, which can be followed by a stroll up to Haytor Rocks to burn off a few calories.

Only disappointment was being sat on the table between the toilets. My partner would have liked more vegetarian choices. But, that said it’s the 2nd time we’ve been and the food, service and presentation were great. Thank you.

Very enjoyable meal and atmosphere. the female staff were very attentive, but the man in charge could in my opinion have a warmer customer approach.
The food as usual was very enjoyable but I have noticed that the portions are becoming more modest in size.
whilst I fully understand that the cost of preraring a meal has increased, please do not get a reputation for poor value for money

Beautiful roast beef and fantastic yorkshire pudding but apart from the latter, portion sizes were tiny! We love the pub and the food, as always, tasted amazing, however beef, veg and potatoes were certainly ungenerously provided. As for my two 'scoops' of delicious ice cream (£4), they were literally rounded teaspoons. A bitter disappointment for the money.

We booked a table for Valentine Day dinner. It was a wonderful menu with lots of dishes I would have like to have had, and absolutely delicious food which was beautifully presented. We could hear people around us commenting on how good the food was. I have already recommended friends to go there; I assume the chef works there regularly? Lovely Ashridge cider at the bar too.

Lovely atmospheric pub/restaurant in Haytor Vale. The service is welcoming and attentive. A good choice of food on the menu and daily specials offer well cooked pub grub at lunchtime and more in the evening. Fires in the winter and a big garden in the summer makes this an excellent find and worth a visit if you're nearby.

We had a lovely meal here on Monday lunchtime. We love this pub. The service is great and the menus are original but not too out there. They change the menu too so it’s always nice to see what’s on on that day. They’ve kept the traditional pub feel with reasonable prices. Highly recommended but gets busy so book a table

Nice, informal and friendly. Good food, STP was excellent. Great location for walks on Dartmoor. Vegetarian options, though more would be good. Dog friendly which was okay for us (we like dogs) but not so good if you have allergies or don’t like dogs around when you are eating.

Second time we have been and second time we enjoyed the meal. Located on the edge of the Moor, ideal spot for lunch and then a walk. Service quite slow but staff friendly and who is in a rush on Dartmoor? Good all rounder.

All the food is prepared and cooked on site and the standard is exceptional. They use real napkins not flimsy 'tissues' and the glasses and cutlery are always sparkling clean. The atmosphere is warm and comforting with open fires and dark wood panelling throughout. Love it!

We had a very enjoyable lunch. Plenty of food choices and well balanced. The portion sizes were good. The crispy duck ballottine very good as was the goats cheese. Would have felt confident to order anything as the standard of food and presentation is very high. Whole plaice delicious, potatoes a little al dente but I can live with that! Very good fish and chips with crispy batter. Service efficient and friendly. Looking forward to returning!
