The Roman Baths Kitchen
Overlooking some of the city’s finest architecture, including the Roman Baths, Pump Room and Bath Abbey, the restaurant’s central location and proximity to Bath’s main attractions makes it the perfect spot for dining. Whether it’s a morning coffee stop, a light lunch or dinner following a busy day’s shopping and sightseeing, or a special event, you can enjoy our seasonal menus, tour experiences and private dining.
The restaurant is a short walk from both Bath Spa train and bus station as well as a number of central car parks.
Really nice experience - I would certainly go back! Staff were great and food was localy
We visited as part of a Roman baths package - although the set menu was limited we were allowed to switch with the standard menu (there was no need to, the set menu looked good). The portions were big, the food was tasty. All in all we enjoyed our dinner here.
We had a prebooked set menu through the Torchlit Roman Baths tour. The food was exceptional and the staff and kitchen were very accommodating to make any changes we required. Thoroughly recommend this venue
First class food and service. Friendly helpful staff who had time for us.
Hello Madam, Sir,
I’m quite surprised about the below email as we had confirmation on the Sunday by one of your team member that no reservation existed by this name on this date.
As such, we weren’t able to attend this diner and had to come back on the day after to visit the Roman Bath.
Could you provide me with explanations and please provide us with a refund? If needed, I will be more than happy to present you with any document you might need to process this demand (is. tickets of the day after visit, timing of our demand, etc).
Thank you in advance for your return,
The three course meal after the visit to the Roman Bath was very nice, staff were friendly and quick.
I wished we had known that we couldn't get back into the Roman Bath to actually see the torchlit bath.
Maybe you'd want to inform future clients who also book the Torchlit Tour together with dinner that it might make sense to go for an early dinner and visit the Bath afterwards rather than how your webpage suggests (museum, tour, dinner).
Friendly staff, we were late but still let us take a seat.
you got a special menu or could take for the same budget on the normal menu.
The Roman Baths Kitchen was part of the Roman Baths Torchlight Tour so we had a limited menu. However, the food was tasty and good portion size. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Overall a nice experience, but we were sat at a very small table for a group of 6 with zero elbow room & so small that the boards the starters came on, couldn’t fit on the table.
They also had a few things on the set menu that were sold out as well as a few beers.
Lovely setting, nice breakfast menu, reasonably priced
Sat outside on their patio on a beautiful summer day. Made for an even more enjoyable dining experience
Setting, ambience, service all very good. Menu was limited. A few more additions to menu needed.
Service began quick and efficient. Food excellent. By the end of the evening front of house staff were nowhere to be seen. Three tables were waiting for their bill. Only one minor member of staff was helpful and explained the reason for the delay.
Lovely food, even on the set menu. Friendly and welcoming staff and good value for money. The only issue was the temperature. The air con was on and made the restaurant very cold. It was turned off when we asked but it didn't make for a very comfortable evening out.
We initially sat outside as the weather was warm, and the young guy serving us was delightful, when it turned a bit chilly we moved inside, and the service became rather lacklustre, and the place was only half full so it wasn't due to capacity. The mint tea ordered was undrinkable, and I wanted a good 10-15 mins to get it resolved, and in the end just ordered the bill. The food was just ok, wouldn't rush back, or recommend sadly :(
Excellent value, very good service, great location right opposite the baths, did the tour and walked straight across to our reserved table, no fuss or drama on a Friday night, would recommend to all as a package, also liked the option of reverting to main menu if I wanted
Nice restaurant and my Dad loved it but slightly limited menu choices and quite expensive for more of a casual type lunch. Would be good if they did some offers or added more to the menu.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Good service and we were asked if we had any allergies. Took into account my allergy and the food was excellent
Will definitely go again when we visit Bath
Perfect for an interesting lunch menu. Well situated with great service. Ideal for a light lunch.
Food was fantastic.
Steak was better than any I’ve had at Gaucho Grill!!!
We went as part of a Twilight package at the Roman Baths. Next time we’ll skip the baths and head to the Restaurant.
Booked the Roman Baths torchlit Visit & Dinner Package - A special package offering a visit to the Roman Baths, followed by a three-course dinner at the Roman Bath Kitchen restaurant, opposite the Roman Baths. What a fantastic wedding anniversary experience - booked our 3 course dinner for 7.30pm - the food was absolutely delicious, tasty and hot when it arrived. The service was prompt and friendly - our waitresses Ulla and Lydia were helpful in recommending dishes on the menu and we requested to see the chef Frank to commend him on the quality of his delicious food - we chose the butternut soup, followed by pan fried salmon and desert all freshly prepared and delicious - the best meal we’ve had on our trip to Bath so far. We would highly recommend The Roman Bath Restaurant - ambience, service, quality of food excellent and such a friendly warm team of staff led by the manager James who was a great ambassador for the restaurant. Will definitely be recommending to our friends and on TripAdvisor for the benefit of others visiting Bath.
We had a really wonderful time.
The waiter was awesome, great service and lovely food.
Couldn’t have chosen a better place to meet up with our NZ friends.
I enjoyed a Mother’s Day treat along with my mum and sister at The Roman Baths Kitchen. We had a lovely table outside in the sunshine, the food was lovely, and I received a complimentary glass of champagne because I cancelled my peppermint tea order which took a while to arrive. Thank you.
It looks like a cafe not a restaurant. It is noisy with buskers working outside and the terrace out front is like sitting in a cage in a zoo because of the numbers of people shuffling along to the Cathedral. The web site photographs do not accurately reflect this venue.
Thank you StephenJ for your review. I'm sorry we weren't to your liking, however our website does clearly state our location within the City; 'We are located in the centre of Bath, on the iconic Abbey square overlooking some of the city’s finest architecture, including the Roman Baths, Pump Room and Bath Abbey' It is also explained that we are open daily for breakfast, coffee, lunch, dinner and drinks. So again, we are sorry this wasn't what you were expecting.
The food was delicious and the staff attentive. We were early in the evening so had the restaurant to ourselves for the most part. However the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
