Great music with a cool vibe. Amazing views would come back again.
Nice location, ambience and food! Drinks are very good and I'd definitely go back!
No one respected my request for a table on the rooftop, whilst allowing late-comers who were behind us to take a table instead. Poor service, and food was really nothing special.
It was a very lovely evening with my friend. It was her birthday and they gave us a free birthday macaron. It was lovely. The view was amazing, the waitress are amazing and so friendly. I like that place will go again definitely.
Rooftop at St.James was great, ambient environment with tasteful drinks and an amazing view. Heaters to keep warm and great appetizers on the menu for snacking. Must go drink spot in London.
Stunning views of London
Had to wait 20 minutes for drinks
One of the waitress needs to learn service with a smile
Great view, Customer service good but room for improvement and food ok.
Great view, Knowledgeable staff and very friendly!
Went for some drinks and nibbles before dinner for my boyfriends birthday. We had a bottle of wine, bruschetta and some calamari. The food and wine was lovely. However the ambiance quite different. We had gone hoping for a nice evening with a suit and a dress, many people wearing trainers and jeans and felt very over dressed. The music was very loud and the service was not great. We were topping up our own wine after the waiter not being able to open it properly... you’d think when spending £70 on a bottle of wine they could open it properly. Just a disappointment unfortunately. Nicer places to go in that area.
£32 for 2 very tiny cocktails was very expensive. However, the ambience, service and views were great.
had an amazing day, brilliant service can't wait to go again
This place was a joke. The purpose of a rooftop bar is the view right? This restaurant has a few tables with a view and the other 50 have no view. We visited the day before our booking to check it out and specifically asked for the ‘Terrace’ which has a view. Didn’t end up there. But we did get a counter seat with the view of the back of building, a waitress who didn’t speak any English and the appetizer we ordered for the 3 of us was delivered along with 2 forks and 2 napkins. Helpful!
So 3 drinks and one cold appy and 80£ later we escaped. Across the street is the Admiralty pub which was super fun, fairly priced and the food and drink were great.
Bad: cocktails, not great service.
Not much else to say....
Very good location and excellent view - though poorly organised and staff isn't terribly accommodating or overly friendly. We were sat right below the speaker, with tropical house music playing, which would have been pleasant possibly later on and if the table wasn't trying to have a conversation. The music did seem oddly loud - we asked if it was possible to move, to which we were met with even more confusion by the floor manager who promised to move us, later on, for a table that she'd saved for us after the current diners had vacated. The manager however left to go on her break and we were then informed that the alleged reserved table had been taken and we'd have to wait another 20 minutes to be moved. We then had to ask to turn the music down, and finally that was eventually actioned allowing us to try and enjoy the rest of the evening.
Moreover, we waited around 15 minutes for 2 pints of Peroni to arrive, which they did, after the food was nearly finished. On that note, the food is unquestionably overpriced, £20 for a cheeseboard that consists of about 5 different, clearly unscrupulously and supermaket sourced, cheeses and all in scarce amounts accompanied by barely any bread or crackers or chutney seems like an abysmal overinflation, to tread lightly. The average price of a cocktail is also unreasonably high given the average quality and small quantity delivered.
In conclusion, I am a firm believer in high quality and paying for that quality, however it appears clear that this venue exploits its location and view to masquerade poor service and below par food and drinks quality by unreasonably overcharing its customers. Notwithstanding the added service charge of 12.5%, which ultimately ends up becoming a sarcastic comment to the pastiche and underwhelming service and overall experience provided.
Perfect for viewing London skyline
Lucky to have a warm sunny evening but there were outdoor heaters
Staff accommodated us very well giving our overseas guests a superb table overlooking Trafalgar Square
We would return without question
Made a reservation for 3 for lunch (1.30pm) on a Saturday - Beautiful sunny day so really pleased that we had booked - We were welcomed at reception and upstairs, service was prompt and food was excellent - We spent 2 hours enjoying the “vibe” and views of the London skyline.
Defiantly worth a visit !
First time there. Excellent views and food. Great selection of drinks. Staff very attentive and friendly. Will be back.
Very pleasant evening. Lovely views. Drinks a little over-priced
Fabulous evening, views, staff etc could not have asked for a more magical evening in the capital
You absolutely cannot beat this view! We found the menu a little limited for dinner, but it would be perfect for drinks and shared plates. You really must reserve in advance as it's not terribly large and is very popular. Best location in London!
Second time and was much better service than last time. Just very dissapointed that the bao buns were taken off the menu, they were a favourite for us as the chefs made them perfectly. Overall this place is one of our favourites in London for romantic drinks and it hasn’t dissapointed both times. We will be back (hopefully with bao buns back on the menu)
The idea was great. Food was very limited. Service was poor. Ended up leaving and going back to covent garden for cocktails. View was amazing. Very disappointed as this was a birthday treat. I was offered a complimentary drink for the poor service, but at this point just wanted to leave.
There was, for some inexplicable reason, a DJ on the terrace, at 2pm in the afternoon, despite the space being fairly cramped and seating only. My friend and I had to leave because we couldn't hear each other, despite moving tables away from a speaker.
We were given one damaged menu and one non existent one (had been torn out of the leather sleeve). Finally were given the cocktail menu. Staff were very sweet but also a little oblivious.
An orange juice we ordered never came. I had a gin and tonic which cost around £13 but I had Hendricks which was probably more, and came with a scrape of cucumber (it was practically see-through!) and an unnecessary amount of ice. It looked like a busy robot had made it.
I think it could be nice without loud pumping music and more attention to detail, as the view is great, but it's not value for money. It could be a very elegant experience but it's honestly like Wetherspoons on a roof as is.
The service was fabulous, really great, which makes or breaks a place.
The food and cocktails aren’t cheap, and even by London prices are expensive, but the ambience and views go some way to towards making up for it.
Somewhere for a special occasion.
Very poor customer service. We went there (5 pax) , ordering cocktails, food and beer (delay even to serve a beer)
We gave a credit card as guarantee. While we were drinking, the staff requested us to pay. We informed them, we would pay in cash. After that, they came again to pushed us to pay.
The venue was still open and basicly the staff quicked us out!
I would never recommed that place. We were expecting a high standard place and we received a very poor customer service.
Love the view, the venue and the food. Cocktails are great too!
Didn't eat so ignore that score.
Service and location was really excellent. The team went above and beyond to help us celebrate (and surprise) our daughter on her 25th birthday.
You really need to work on your arrival procedure , the girls downstairs are sullen and rude . There is no nee d to be stopped and quizzed by them . If you feel it necessary to stop everyone , at least be nice .
That is the last time I will go to The Rooftop , I'm sick of them being so up themselves , its only a bar .
We only had cocktails very overpriced for what they were, service charge £5 for a very miserable waitress to bring our drinks over , positive parts were the view is spectacular and we were given a great seat and the other staff around were very friendly but not sure I would go again , this was my 2nd time and the service was so much better last time as where the cocktails .
Wonderful place to eat or drink. Views are amazing, staff are helpful and friendly and attentive. I have been before and would go again. Great place to introduce people to that haven’t been.
Lovely atmosphere, drinks were great, didnt have food but it looked very appetizing. Views were great!
Over priced, ridiculous process to actually get to rooftop-four people in foyer directing to a desk with one person actually working on the desk meant long queues and an unnecessary complicated process. Upstairs, over priced wine and food and further queues to be seated despite the reservation made.
The staff was helpful and very nice, we were in the bar area and they offered blankets, so we could still enjoy our time there despite the cold wind. The food was poor for the price in terms of quality, but I guess you pay for the place!
Very nice place for couples, nice view.
Lovely cocktails. Great service. Fab views of central London
I would recommend this rooftop because of the view and ambience but not because of food, it was like fast food and the service wasn’t the best.
What a great location, you can see the hustle and bustle of Picadilly Circus down below as you sit and look out on London's skyline.
Yes not the cheapest of places but hey it's London and the view.
2 small glasses of wine, 2 coffees, pint of beer and a Prosecco £65
We booked the Prosecco brunch, £45 pp.
The starter was very good. Limited choice of mains two of us had fish and chips, fine. One of us ordered the steak which although cooked medium/rare was as tough as old boots. The restaurant did the right thing and offered an alternative, pea risotto, bland bland bland. We were assured the chef felt it was all good maybe the chief needs a revision course in seasoning and choosing a decent meat supplier. The Prosecco stoped flowing at 4, although we were told we would have 2 hours for brunch. So we ordered three signature cocktails none of which were drinkable, and believe me we can drink most stuff. In fairness to this establishment they did refund one main course and not charge for the cocktails we didn’t drink and gave us one last glass of Prosecco. The location is great the service was great but really let down my food and beverage. Which really is what brunch is all about!!!
Lovely views, definitely need to book, good menu with a great choice of food and drink, cocktails weren’t as nice as I hoped.. and expensive as expected though - it’s the experience you pay for which is worth it. Shall return on another sunny day. Thank you!
A perfect place to watch the sun go down. Lovely location
The Rooftop is a fabulous bar/restaurant. It has the added bonus of views over Trafalgar Square so it's a lovely place to soak up some London atmosphere. The menu isn't extensive but the cocktails are very good and the service is good too although slightly slow. There's three different seating arrangements - bar, soft seating and high tables and its hit and miss what you get allocated. I've been a few times and it really doesn't matter where you sit you'll have a wonderful experience.
