Welcoming and friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, good food, very pleasant location. An ideal place for a good re-union with friends and family.
I've been using this pub for family and friends meetings for some time now. It has a comfortable, rustic ambience, welcomes dogs, walkers and horse riders with equal enthusiasm, and serves decent nosh. They also serve all day, which is really helpful. Service has been consistently good, and the staff are always polite and helpful.
Good, relaxing atmosphere.
Disappointing this time compared to our previous bank holiday meal. The service was poor very slow and only half the order arrived, had to ask for other meals. The menu wasn't as good either not as much choice.
Such a shame lovely pub, garden and staff very good. However we had the roast and it was truly dreadful. Lukewarm, lamb was stringy and fatty and vegetables had no taste. On reflection Should have complained and sent it back. Eaten there before and food was good.
Heard the reviews which were all well founded - great bar, food, and excellent service. Very good open grounds, great during good weather. Will definitely return!!
Very cosy pub with a great garden - absolutely perfect for a sunny day!!
Service was great as usual all in all good experience
We visited with friends from Spain as the Night Jars band were on that night. Nice ambience in the restaurant and we were impressed with the service, as very friendly staff. Food good although the special main course had run out. Enjoyed the music and will definitely be back.
Had a lovely experience on Friday with my friends. Great meal lovely staff
Chose Sunday roasts. Beef was tough/chewy, chicken was on the dry side. Nice selection of vegtables although portions were not large. Poor value for £13.95 each.
We came in the back way from the car park and we made ourselves known to the staff at the bar. Majority of diners were in the vast garden but we opted to stay inside by the window at the back. Very attentive waiters. I had the fish and chips which was a big portion but delicious my hubby had the fish pie which was not with mash on the top but a proper pie he ate every morsel, clean plate. He is quite discerning re food so I was very pleased. Good experience all round will go again.
Excellent food, and venue. Service was a little slow but this I put down to being very busy.
Excellent service, very friendly staff, very tasty food.
An appealing dining pub with high quality pub classics and a daily special, cheerful service and realistically priced.
For the first time we came here for our 11th wedding anniversary. The food was great, staff very very friendly and helpful. Great service would come again and we will come back as we recommended to member of family who travelled to visit us recently. Seating was ok but i found not much space. Overall really enjoyed the visit and will come back again . The staff were friendly and very helpful. Thank you . Look forward to coming back again :)
The food and the service is excellent. Well worth a visit
We have been to this pub/restaurant a few times and have always enjoyed the experience. Really worth seeking out. Sunday lunch is excellent.
Friendly, cosy, delicious food. Outstanding local country pub.
We have been to The Rose and Crown 3 times and each time was equally as enjoyable. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere with welcoming staff and delicious food. Family friendly/ dog friendly but equally special enough for a romantic meal. We would now consider it our ‘local’ and intend to visit often! I can’t wait for the warmer weather so we can enjoy the garden.
A lovely discovery with an amazing view and homely welcome. Fine decor and delicious roast lunch. Definitely worth a visit
A lovely pub with great staff! The food is amazing and the recommended wine was lovely. Their staff Andy and Andrea are absolutely excellent!
The bar area is dog friendly (including free dog biscuits) and so cosy with two fires. Highly recommended!
Here for a bit of lunch with my elderly parents as I hadn’t been here for a long time and they live nearby. The service was lovely and friendly throughout and the food tasted fresh and tasty and nicely on time.
My only slight gripe was it was a little chilly in the restaurant. I was fine because I had a decent jumper on!
I would recommend the place though and I hope to return soon.
Went to the Rose and Crown for lunch with elderly Mum. Bar area is very cosy with open fires and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant is very clean, light and spacious. Menu is not huge but covers most people’s tastes and food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. I would recommend this pub for the beer and drinks as well. I couldn’t fault it.
As I live 110 miles away and this is an unknown are a to me, I did a bit of research on the internet to find a place where a friend and I could have Sunday lunch in pleasant surroundings. I couldn't have been more pleased really. This is a nice pub/restaurant, warm and cosy with two log fires in the drinking area and a welcoming restaurant room, seasonally decked out. I had made an internet reservation late the previous evening.
As we walked through the door the lady host greeted us by name, clearly aware of our forthcoming arrival, and led us to a nicely laid table for two in a window seat. The brown paper that serves as a table cloth was handwritten with our names and time of eating, which actually is a nice touch. We were introduced to a tall young man who would be our waiter, who was attentive, courteous and eager to please. We each had a warming mug of mulled cider whilst we perused the menu. We ate a starter, a main course, and I ate a dessert too. My friend had a vegetarian main course whereas I had the days roast and vegetables, followed by fruit crumble and custard.
The food was very good and the service was excellent. I noticed that the host was vigilant and the two other young ladies waiting on tables were equally attentive.
After lunch we retired to the bar area and in fact stayed by the fire all afternoon so comfortable were we. Service at the bar was also polite, courteous and friendly.
We both enjoyed our visit and resolved to return in the near future. Well done the Rose and Crown.
Our first visit here for many years. A very pleasant local pub with friendly service and a menu selection that was not too big - some places try and offer far too much. It's location should be great for dining outside on a pleasant summer day with its views over the countryside.
Lovely pub with great service. Food was good value, tasty and well presented. Thanks
We went for Sunday lunch and the roasts were good. Staff mainly very young and inexperienced but friendly. It did mean service was slow, had to prompt them a few times. Surroundings very pleasant, nice garden and views. Feels as though you're in the country although you're not really!
