Great space to meet with friends and family, whether it’s a drink or their amazing roast. Dan & Tash are super friendly. Nice mix of being a restaurant & bar.
We booked for 2.45 - the band was on 3-5pm.
At 4.30 we were told that we had to leave as table had been booked for someone else
I understand they need as many customers as possible but we had travelled to get there and should have been warned there was a time limit in the table !
We went there for drinks with friends ! Really good selection of drinks, good service.
Good atmosphere in there and will definitely go again, very noisy but that’s fine. Very busy on Fri night but booked and very enjoyable night 😀
Warm welcome, really nice staff, clean venue with all covid measures proactively managed. Great selection of draught beers, wines and spirits, especially gin, but this is their specialty to be fair.
Please note: this was for drinks only, we didn’t eat but this survey forces you to score food.
Fab evening! Really enjoyed bringing my friends here who dont live in Swindon!
Booked a table for 3pm on Sunday - asked for menus. No roasts left - which wouldn’t be too bad if it wasn’t the only thing on the menu. Waitress then came back after approx ten minutes and said it was ok they could 4 roast dinners. Another 10 minutes after that , a manager came back and said that he was sorry but there was no roasts left. We could all however have Risotto - just Risotto , no other options. We rang the “Bank” and booked a table for four and shared a great family meal.
A very nice evening - bar service was a little slow when we arrived - usual issues regarding table service at busy times - overall very nice evening
It was a pleasant afternoon however we were not told at the time of booking or arrival that our table was booked out to someone else at 4pm. We had just ordered a round of drinks at 3pm and something triggered me to ask the question...the response was Yes the table is booked at 4pm. Then our drinks were delivered 2 cocktails each and the chap working came over around 3.20pm to advise us the table was booked at 3.30pm but we could have it until 4pm, no mention of seating us elsewhere...I understand that this situation we are in at the moment is difficult and no problem with time limits on tables IF you are made aware at the time of booking or when you arrive. Other than that we had a great time!
I booked a table for my friends birthday, we had a few of the 2 for £10 cocktails and they were all beautiful. We also ordered a pizza to share, I can't eat tomatoes so was really pleased with the pesto base and it was delicious. The member of staff that was looking after us was so attentive and lovely, so overall very happy and definitely coming back 😊
Lovely atmosphere as ever and the best pizza we have ever tasted! Highly recommend!
I did not have food here so unable to rate it. Poor score on service as took 40 minutes to get drinks once seated which is not great when you are on a timed slot and now minimal people in there.
Really good atmosphere and the drinks are great value.
Excellent food and drink
The owners really fit!
Didnt eat but it looked good. Ambience excellent. Service super. Distancing very good.
I marked the food down because didn’t eat anything. But the food does smell really nice so it’s probably top-notch. My only issue with the Royal oak is that although I booked a table we could only have it for 2 hours.
I would definitely recommend the Royal oak it is one of Swindon is best pubs
Booked a table for four people for my birthday. Had a few drinks and then we were going to order some pizza’s but was asked to leave as they needed table back. Booked in for 5.15pm and was asked to leave at 6.55. The turn around is meant to be two and a half hours not one hour and forty minutes. Couldn’t go anywhere else as would have had to book.
Cocktails were really good and great value with the offers!
Seating was all socially distanced without ruining the atmosphere.
I’ll be back next week for birthday celebrations part 2 :)
We didn't eat but pizzas smelt delicious
Service was good
Service was very good and friendly staff, very clean. Didn’t eat there but the food looked great
Didn't eat but it all looked good. VERY organised re social distancing. Staff superb. Very enjoyable afternoon
We didn’t eat but wished we had. Cocktails were amazing! Lovely atmosphere, so friendly. COVID secure as well. First time drinking in there and we will definitely be back 🍹
Sit in the chophouse but that was also quite noisy. Good, fun atmosphere though :)
Lovely pizzas, great service (especially the bottomless prosecco!). A really nice evening.
Really good service lovely atmosphere would recommend
Our favourite place to go for all occasions. Perfect for a chilled after, cocktails with the girls or even football with the other half
Great service, the front of house lady was lovely and found us a quiet table (it can be quite noisy in the bar area). Good cocktails and nice pizza. The cocktail trees looked amazing but I think you need to pre book these. We will definitely be going here again.
Great service and atmosphere!
Lovely evening and felt really
Comfortable with everything in place due to Covid19.
Always a good evening at the Royal Oak. Staff are fab making it a lovely atmosphere. Feels very safe too with regards to COVID
Really lovely evening, amazing pizza! Delicious cocktails and lovely quiet environment. Will definitely be going back for another visit.
Best pizza ever! I had two small ones as I couldn’t decide and they were both amazing, lovely staff too
Excellent service and food with a relaxed, safe and lovely ambience. Had a wonderful evening.
There's better places to go for pizza. It felt more like a place for drinks rather than food.
Arrived late but they were very Accommodating thank you
Great service, lots of choice :) Really good atmosphere and great music too!
Really enjoyed our evening cocktails amazing pizzas were fantastic Social distancing measures that are in place are really good
Service was great as usual, they really do go above and beyond. Didn’t eat this time but the pizzas they make are phenomenal. The manager couldn’t be a nicer guy really. Give it a go and try their extensive gin collection it’s great.
We were seated in the Chophouse restaurant although the booking was for drinks only, which we didn't mind but the restaurant isnt as nice for a drink as the Royal Oak side of it. The music was too loud and felt more like a club, this meant everyone had to shout to speak and made the noise levels even worse. The bar staff were lovely and friendly but didn't tend to our table so we struggled to get a drink. We were also sat within a metre of the table next to us and social distancing went out of the window. For what is considered a nice place to go for a drink in Swindon, we were really let down by our experience and sadly won't be rushing back!
The Royal Oak used to be a prestigious pub to enjoy quality sea food and well prepared cocktails.
I am very sorry to say its now 'just another pub' and one my partner and I probably won't return to. The menu has been reduced to just Pizza, which in itself is fine.
The real problem we had was the lack of social distancing regulations being upheld within the premises. I was sat within arms length of a group of chaps all obviously from different households. The ambiance has been lost, football was playing on every television at volume, which is fine for a sports bar not a venue that markets itself as somewhere to unwind with friends enjoying cocktails and prosecco laughing and enjoying life.
If I had wanted the sorry atmosphere experienced there I would have gone to a Weatherspoons.
Very sorry this venue has slipped so far....
