The Royal Stag
Today we are the only pub in the village, proud to be the centre of the community and serving good food, wine and beers to locals and visitors alike from 11am until midnight.
Our food is freshly cooked on-site, featuring local ingredients served all day every day from midday until we take our last order at 8.45pm.
We do a fine Sunday roast and we advise booking a table so that you can enjoy our traditional hospitality, cosy fire and warm atmosphere. Enjoy a quiet chat in a cosy nook under the old beams or gather with friends, family and colleagues in the warmth of the bar overlooking the village green.
Only 3 miles from Windsor Castle we are a popular stop off point for a pint after a brisk walk with the dog! Pop in when you’re next passing.
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch after the remembrance service on Sunday -party of 5
Lovely pub grub
Lovely meal. Freshly prepared, good size portions and reasonable prices
Great pub for a lovely roast dinner on a Sunday. Great service really welcoming and food was fresh and great portions
The car park was closed and not knowing the area, found it a nightmare to park - almost gave up. The front of house lad seemed disinterested so not welcoming. The food was plentiful and good.
Love this place. Service is very good and food is great. Large portions and reasonably priced. I would go again.
Food was good
Struggled to pick as it was more like Posh pub grub for me.
Would recommend to people
A bit dark on arrival but seated at the tables at the rear which was light and airy. Car Park was closed so difficulty finding somewhere to park which was a bit of a negative. Staff very friendly and food good.
typical english pub
good homemade food
so very pleasant
Nice food and good service. Prices are reasonable and our table was in a quiet spot. Been to The Royal Stag quite a few times and never been disappointed.
Had a lovely lunch in this authentic and historic pub. Really great food. We were a group of 8 and we all had something different, each and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. I had a homemade steak and ale pie which was deliciious, filled to the brim with steak, served with fresh green veg The staff were accommodating and very helpful, especially with our children. Highly recommended.
Meal was good, front of hose couldn’t take to, he seamed a bit arrogant to me. I would recommend going there but if you get upset easily give it a wide birth.
The indoor dining area is small and not smart, so we were agreeably surprised with the quality of the food - very good. And the service was excellent too - lots of respect for the proprietor.
This was a nice pub if you want to have an drink but it is small and was quite crowded when we were trying to eat our meal. The staff were friendly but they did keep forgetting to get us thing such as a child’s menu. The calamari was overpriced for what it was, but food was fine. The children’s food looked really good. Like I said a lovely place for a drink but maybe not a dining experience (on a Saturday at least!)
Good lunch with friends. Interior is a bit tatty but food and service good.
The Stag is a very attractive old pub with a good atmosphere. We had the steak and ale pie, burgers and fish and chips. All very enjoyable. The service was friendly and efficient.
Food was very good and service was friendly and unhurried. I am careful about not having too much wheat in my diet and am also vegetarian. Chose the falafel burger (minus bread) and I was made aware that the burger did contain a small amount of flour and the oil that was used to cook the chips had been used for other food items containing wheat, which I really appreciated.
Standard pub food. I only ate (some) of my falafel burger because I was hungry. It was grilled paste and not very pleasant. Lovely coleslaw, chips and tzatzeki though. Music was far too loud and inescapable with speakers everywhere. But hey lots of people love that!
We had a lovely meal at The Royal Stag on Sunday, the roast beef was very tender and we didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. Our table was reserved which was great as we wouldn't have got one if we hadn't booked. The ambience was lively, only one lady who talked so loud the whole pub could hear her conversation but thankfully she left. Would definitely recommend and return.
Food is usually very good, but there was more fat than lamb which was disappointing. And not worth the money.
Service was excellent.
Ambience wasn’t great as there was screaming children and dogs behind us, which made it difficult to have a conversation.
Another good meal at the Royal Stag. Sadly the table we tried to book was busy and the subsequent place we sat at was a bit too cramped for our liking but - it was a busy Friday night so we will accept the reasons for the alternative seating choice.
New on the menu is the Squid as a starter - Very nice and with a main course of Chille C C and bottle of fortified Shiraz - a good time was had by all.
Fabulous young lady waiting on us and she really was a crsit to the team.
All acceptable Nothing exceptional
Pleasant and clean
We have been eating here for many years and apart from a few wobbles, the place is a great venue for dinner.
The menu has changed and the chops are fabulously presented (and cooked!!) The wine list has also changed and the Murphy Shiraz is exceptional value for money.
Staff are all attentive and all in all it remains one of our favourite / casual places to dine!!
Sorry to say not only were there no roasts left at 4.45 and no pie there was little else on the menu to choose. The comment back from the landlord was that it is Sunday lunch and we always run out later in the day as its very popular. Whilst he was friendly in his manner, if this is a regular occurance surely they should cater for more. Not help in the bar by very noisy regulars
Lovely food, pleasant helpful staff. My friend had the burger and said it was probably the nicest she'd ever had.
